Shark01 Report post Posted June 17, 2012 Interesting thread. I am thinking about my next fun car. Normally, I buy something newer and lose my a#@ in depreciation. I'd like to reverse the trend. I'm not concerned so much about value gains as much as not losing much other than money spent on maintenance. On those terms, wil any Diablo model meet my goal? And is budgeting $5k per year in maintenence reasonable for a decently sorted car?

Charlie Report post Posted June 18, 2012 Shark01, If you are looking for a Diablo I would highly recomend 1994 or newer. Alot less maintenance, issues, Power steering, etc. No way ANY Diablo is an investment when you have to maintain, pay for insurance, plates, etc each year compared to other investment options. I'm OK with paying for insurance, registration, maintenance, etc....because those will be there for any car. But I'd like something that is near the bottom of the depreciation curve. I'm OK with several years before it starts appreciating. So in this context, would I be better off financially to buy a $130k Diablo or a $130k Murcielago? bikeman Report post Posted June 18, 2012 Car as investment :lol2: :lol2: buy an exotic for love not money, that being said I think it is a good time to buy a diablo I remember 6 or 7 years ago when FI countachs were going for 70-80k. Not any more. I don't see diablos getting any cheaper so if you have the cash now is the time to buy.
IlToro Report post Posted June 18, 2012 Yeah, and just keep in mind even if you do buy at the bottom, it's unlikely your going to make money when you sell it. The goal should be to just keep the loss to a minimum.
