keiphers Report post Posted September 13, 2013 Good afternoon, everyone! The thread title seems absurdly specific, but it's for a reason! I need a Chicago-area owner of an LP550/560/570 with an Escort 9500ci radar detector that's interested in helping Mid City Engineering / me develop an instrument cluster interface for the 9500ci that works with LP model Gallardos. I don't know how any of your PASSPORT displays are mounted, but it can't be as slick as this! I've been in contact with them since April, and they make an absolutely insane interface for the R8: http://www.midcityengineering.com/radar-in...erfaces/9500cr8. You need to watch the video to get a real idea: . As y'all probably know, the R8 and Gallardo share an instrument cluster interface, so there is a chance that the R8 interface will be plug-n-play for the Gallardo (no wire splicing or cutting). Installation requires removing the radio. If the interface is plug-n-play, installation would be quick and easy (all done in 1 day). If not, they would need the car for 2-3 days for development - the tester would of course get the module and installation for free. I spoke recently with TJ Stailey, operations manager at Mid City, about functionality, based on how the R8 interface works. The interface only briefly interrupts whatever is displayed (e.g. iPod track or satellite radio station) for alerts or for setting changes using the standard Escort control module, e.g. changing the volume then goes back. That means the iPod track or SiriusXM data would still be displayed. They said they would need a day or so notice to make sure they were ready to tackle it when your schedule would permit.
