Roadster roof panels

How do I avoid damaging the roof panels on my new SV Roadster? I've wrapped the roof in XPEL but I'm scratching the film on the left side panel when I take it from the trunk. The felt on the folding retaining guide isn't long enough and the bottom metal edge is exposed and hard to avoid when yanking the panel loose from its clips. Any tips from experience Roadster owners?

It is a design problem that I complained about in normal lp700 roadsters too which needs to be fixed! Nothing yet done about it but you should complain and maybe lambo will do something about it.

I use a soft towel to cushion the compartment where roof sits in front ... Until one day Lambo will come up with a solution which I already suggested.

My buddy's brand '16 did the same thing to the film on the first try.

47000 miles on my 2014 roadster and 5k miles on my 2016 sv roadster... tops removed over 400 times based on my conservative estimate..

 

I replace ALL my film (4) layers on my car 3-4 times a year and the undelying car and roof is without one tiny little chip or scratch ever.

 

I see no problem the film is always damaged there and after a while replace it.

 

there is a certain "piece" that after 30k miles starts to rattle on the cars body behind the driver seat where the roof clips in... maaaaaaaaan I hatted that noise... starts at about 5K ON MY SV cause its a rougher ride... but .... I FOUND THE LITTLE FUCKER!!!! and a tiny pice of foam rubber placed there before you cover the hole with the vanity caver solves the whole thing!!! I'm so happy to have found this littloe annoyance and solve it forever.. if car was here at office today I would show pics.. I am pleasesd with this "free" fix

 

 

Is this causing damage to the applied protective film only or is there a risk that the panels themselves would get damaged? That's not good.

I've placed a strip of double sided tape (leaving the protective film on) across the metal area. It's not particularly pretty but it should do the job for now. I feel lucky the CF finish wasn't harmed...

I believe most people put the thick 8mm matte Xpel type of film to protect the panels... And I would probably replace every single year.

There's a real risk. I'd rather cover the offending metal edge to stop the problem at its source than keep replacing film. It's not hard to do but it's pretty shameful that Lambo don't fix the problem for us.

I will get the dealer to have a look when the car gets here, thanks for the heads up.
