Body Seam Sealer and Glass Sealant?

I recall a few years back the on-going debate between using black silicone (matte finish) vs a seam sealer (urethane, etc...)

Has anyone had success using the 3M Urethane Seam Sealant on the Countach body panels?

Wondering if this can be used around the taillights?

For re-glueing the Front Turnsignal Housing lenses and frames or rear quarter window glass and frames.... thinking this Polyurethane Glass Sealant would work?

Curious what factory used and what those who've had restorations done used.

Look forward to hearing about it.

Thanks in advance

Dave

I sprayed my car with a mattel black plastic paint then went over the seams with 3m urethane which is shiny because I wanted contrast over the matte. I'll post a close up shot. I believe at the factory they used silicone but research it, I'm not positive.

Thanks for your post and the photos.

Very helpful

i did some more investigation and looks like others have done well with the 3M Urethane Seam Sealer 08367 on the countach. Guess I will order some.

Came across these sites:

It also looks like some have used 3m Auto Glass Urethane Windshield Adhesive black (3M-08693)

https://www.another board/vbforum/f1...ndations-26362/

https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/3m-auto-gl...ve-p-15923.aspx

Thinking the Glass Urethane Windshield Adhesive would be best to use to glue the window frames around the car to the glass and glass to the body when doing restoration work ?

Another alternative to the 3M Urethane seam sealant, that some have used in past is Sikaflex 221 polyurethane sealant black.

Dave, it was sprayed with a rubber type finish that peels off and good luck with your project
