  1. That Scud is insane - not a big Ferrari fan, but that must haul ass. Perfect color
  2. I think so unless Ray has 2 cars? Looks sick with the black pipes... makes me want to make a move on mine... Great work as always guys!
  3. Just saw this thread, been so busy with events and new business ventures, Thanks for the opportunity to work with you that day Webb, your talent speaks volumes through the images. I just received the large print in the mail last week and it is being framed, i chose the one on the bridge, just a spectacular photo. Another white monster is on it's way, very very rare car and having the PPI done tomorrow - I will be sure to connect with you again for a full WHITEOUT photo shoot of all my cars. Just one more on my list I will probably pickup in December..... My count will be up to 15 white cars then...
  4. To all Participants, Spectators, Media & Fellow Enthusiasts, On Sunday, April 25, 2010, Exotics Rally hosted a Runway Event at the Dade Collier Training & Transitional Airport in Ochopee, Florida. To measure this competition we used a new-unique timing system built by 2 engineers that have extensive knowledge of electronics, circuitry, mathematics and more. They have worked for The Military, US Government, Apple, Disney and many more projects past, present, and future. The system was built to perform better than the mainstream systems normally used when measuring a 1 mile speed competition. It was tested and calibrated and found to be 100% accurate within 100th of a second when it was built. On Sunday, April 25, 2010, Myself and one of the tech's measured the mile accurately using a measuring wheel and laid out the trap sensors perfectly. We performed tests to insure it's accuracy with my car and compared it with a vBox and it was 100% accurate at 9am. At approximately 9:30am Jason Heffner and Ray Hofman approached me with a concerning issue. The lane for the 1 mile was directly set over the markings that were painted on the runway. They explained that they had been testing on the runway a few days prior and that it caused the car to become very unstable and they feared it could cause an accident. At this time I instructed my tech to move the lane over approximately 20 feet to avoid being on the markings. I began to help move the trap sensors and then was called away and went to the front of the airport to handle registration issues. When I returned, the tech had said it was completely ready to run. Cars began running the mile and when times were announced many people were disheartened with the results claiming there was no way possible and the 'buzz' was that the system was off by approximately 9 mph. We continued to run until 12:45pm and then stopped for a lunch break. While everyone went to lunch I became aware that the tech did NOT re-measure the actual mile and simply walked the sensor traps across the runway laterally. This should have been handled differently and therefore the timing was indeed inaccurate. We went and re-measured and obtained the proper distance and the determined the exact calculation of the error. Thankfully the system is designed so that the tech was able to add these calculations to the software and re-adjust all the previous runs to read the correct times. Towards the end of lunch I came forward and made the announcements regarding the issue and handed out time slips. Several people concurred that the timing was now accurate according to their vBox's, speedometers and gps devices. As of Tuesday, April 27, 2010 there had been much talk on the Internet, in chat rooms, on the phone, and in the media questioning the validity of the World Record Run, by Ray Hofman which resulted in a reading of 266.938 mph. There was also speculation that now the system was reading higher mph results as well. In reviewing the data file from all the runs of the day it is my finding that there may have been some inconsistencies that some would find questionable. Therefore, in order to verify these results I personally emailed both parties on April 30, 2010. In sum and substance I asked Jason Heffner & Ray Hofman to share their results with me exclusively. I offered a non-disclosure waiver, stating that I will not release or share any data included within the results that they claim they are in possession of with any other 3rd party. To my dismay I received an email from Jason Heffner stating that the timing system was inaccurate. He also declined to share their data with me. With all these variables I cannot firmly state that the run was without question 100% accurate without the additional results. However this does not discredit the timing systems reading of 266.938 mph, it merely does not verify it with their results. You may draw your own conclusions as to whether the timing system was accurate or not. For the remainder of the day it is my tech's conclusion that the timing system was working properly when it was not being blocked by spectators which happened several times. Please see the following statement made by my tech's. "From everything I have seen, Heffner's run was completely accurate. If he recorded a near-exact time on two other independent recording devices, I would be inclined to assume that all things are indeed equal, and hence the times are accurate. Please obtain these records to completely eradicate any margin of error and then you will have not 1, not 2, but 3 verifications." In closing I would like to add that I am sincerely sorry that this dispute has taken place regarding the accuracy of the timing system and the validity of this specific run. It is my hopes that this would have been resolved prior to the posting of this letter. I thank each and every participant, sponsor, and co-worker for your support and efforts. I pride myself on hosting value packed and exciting events, but this particular excitement I could have done without. Upon return of my support vehicle to NY which has the timing system, we will be renting an airfield in our local area to test the system and will present those results in the coming weeks. Yours truly, Seth Rose, Pres. Exotics Rally
  5. FYI - I just printed your time slip 11:20 am 4/25/10 1/4 mile time 10.969 @ 160.403 mph 1 Mile time 23.547 @ 246.763 mph So if your Motec GPS shows 247 we were on the money.
  6. He has the contact information for the persons that run the airport and was cleared for this in advance. They were paid and I didn't feel that it was necessary to not allow them into the venue with the understanding that they would keep him in the RV and not be flashing his weapons around. At no time did he come near the starting line or the tent and thats where I spent most of my time. None of my staff told me about him being around other participants or spectators, had I known this he would have been asked to leave and or I would have contacted the local authorities to have him escorted off the property. It was more of a dog and pony show for him and at the end of the day - he is the type of guy that wants to be infamous instead of famous. There is always one in a crowd. He added a bit of shock value I guess.
  7. This is what the timing system reflected, I have referred your question to the techs. Here is the answer I received: MPH is a metric of horsepower. ET is a metric of traction and driving. As for how it can happen... any way you can imagine. Driver rolls on from 70 mph, they're at the 1/4 trap doing 117 in 8.4 seconds. Driver rolls on from 50 mph, they're at the 1/4 trap doing whatever speed in whatever time. It has absolutely no bearing on standing quarter mile speeds. Likewise, if you roll on at 2,000 rpm in 4th gear, you're not going to accelerate as quickly, in a relative sense, as you will dumping the clutch in first at 7,000. The gearing is different, the realized power is different, the wind resistance is different, etc, etc. There are dozens of metrics that affect the speed and time. I have zero control over any of them. I can not tell you WHY a car took x seconds to get from point A to point B at a particular speed. All I can do is tell you what those variables were when recorded.
  8. this was the flying mile with a running start before the 1st set of traps
  9. like I said, I think it was more of a publicity stunt than a legitimate threat I mean really, what would be the motive to threaten him? Competition breeds success, it makes you go back and come up with better combinations to achieve a better result. Obviously that was the case with Ray Hofman's car and they succeeded.
  10. Bentley SuperSports was a spectator and did not run the mile. SLR came late and ran the 'flying mile' ONLY 1. 1/4 @ 9.904 @ 113.637mph & 1 Mile @ 29.050 @ 148.403 (Female Driven) 2. 1/4 @ 8.456 @ 117.810mph & 1 Mile @ 28.727 @ 149.976 (Female Driven)
  11. Allegedly his life was threatened if he was to show up at the event. The armed bodyguard had a federal gun permit and was granted permission by the county and airport management. I asked them to keep him in the trailer and out of plain sight - obviously that was ignored and yes it was completely ridiculous and in my opinion some sort of publicity stunt and completely unecessary. I will only give that team 'props' on one account, the team with the Nissan GTR - Majestic, left all of their garbage behind, including several empty drums of race fuel and other items on the taxi-way. Performance Power was kind enough to clean up and take that garbage with them. So I will say 'thank you' for doing the right thing with the garbage. They stated it was ridiculous and they would UPS the garbage to the 'Majestic' shop today - I would probably do the same - that would be priceless.
  12. 1 Run only 1/4 Mile Trapped @ 11.338s @ 122.301 mph 1 Mile Trapped @ 28.933s @ 155.470 mph (I believe he backed off considerably since the front was just repainted and he advised that using 3m on a matte black finish is useless since it will make it glossy)
  13. My tech have been analyzing all of the results and pictures that were taken as well, please note that after yelling at the crowd several times to move back some were numb and as a result affected the outcome of the timing by blocking the antenna system. Please see below, I guess roping off the area would have been the answer... Please yell at anyone you recognize !
  14. Actually his pilot flew the plane - very - very nice people. Complete gentleman and first class all the way.
  15. Timing issues, complaints, recap. Absolutely there were timing issues for the first 1/2 of the day. History: We arrived at the Airport 5am to begin setting up the timing system. Due to Ray's Jet landing at 7am we needed to wait until then to actually place all the traps in their proper place. Once landed we proceeded to setup the system completely. Everything was measured accurately and it was tested as well, compared with vBox and was completely functioning properly. 8am, Jason Heffner approached me with an issue regarding the placement of the timing system and that the 'lane' was running over painted stripes which could potentially cause a major hazard and someone could lose control and he had experienced this first hand on Thursday when they were test running on the same airstrip. Immediately I instructed my timing tech to relocate the lane where there was no painted markings. Unbeknownst to me he did NOT remeasure the mile but simply moved it across the strip. I think we all know that it is almost impossible to laterally move such items and have them in the exact same location with the same measurements. Admittedly I should have supervised and/or measured it myself for accuracy as it plays such an important role in an event of this nature. All the runs from 9am - 1pm were off by a margin of approximately 9 mph. Once we broke for lunch, we re-measured the mile and the traps and were able to adjust it accurately and since our timing system records all of the readings on the hard drive we were able to populate the correct times in the records. We then printed out the time slips and people commented that their vBox readings were matching the times displayed on the time slips. I ran my personal car 3 times through the traps setting the cruise control at 60/75/82 and each time the system came back with 100% accurate readings after is was recalibrated. The second half of the day - the readings were accurate. There were however a few that did NOT read at all or completely wrong due to a few spectators blocking one of the antenna's at the starting line which caused a false reading. As I am still in Miami for another day, I am sorting through all of the times and editing the names that were spelled wrong in the system so that everyone has accurate timing slips with their name and vehicle type. I will be mailing originals to those who request and or email them as well. Unfortunately with electronics as well as cars there is a margin or failure. However I did my best to make sure it was resolved. At the end of the day most were happy with the accuracy of the timing equipment and I apologize to those who were not. As far as comments regarding the price of the event. To address this, all I can say is that we strive to keep our events on a certain level, attracting a great quality of participants and cars as well. Much goes into this event, including but not limited too, Airport Rental, Insurance, Permits, Rescue Team, Tents, Portable Toilets, Advertising, Promotional Gifts, Rain Event insurance (which would reimburse everyone had in rained) And many more items not listed. At the end of the day everyone makes a choice, if you don't like the price, don't participate. I think that's pretty simple. Lastly, I truly appreciate everyone's participation, sponsorships, and vendors that participated. Special thanks to my close friends Slavik and Bobby who at the last minute filled in for employees that that had an emergency in the morning and could not come that were carpooling. At the end of the day, it was a great turnout and people had fun, got sunburned, and went home with their stomachs full. I know that I am hurting today with all of the above, it was a very long and at times stressful day. Thank you again - and congrats to Ray/Heffner for an incredible time. Seth Rose, Pres - ER ps - If anyone lost their Florida Tag that ends in KPH I have it and it was found on the runway upside down at the end of the day. One more closing comment - I am very grateful that everyone went home in one piece and there were no casualties of any kind. At these speeds it is a factor that must be realized and one more event has passed with even higher speeds. When does it end? I don't know - hopefully with comradere amongst the tuners and not tragedy.
  16. Very cool article - these guys keep rockin' it... your right Dino - race car drivers seem to hover around the TT Gallardo's... must be something... I haven't found out yet still struggling with the concept for myself... We will have to get them to all participate at the next runway event... 4/25/10 Dupont Registry Ad will be in March issue, going ALL OUT this time! New timing system custom developed just for Exotics Rally! (Sorry not trying to hijack this thread - any sponsors interested let me know)
  17. yes bluetooth is an option, mine is white and has bluetooth - I am missing only 1 option - ccb's
  18. My first event we used vBox and a Radar gun which proved to be useless, god only knows how the cops get accurate readings Every event that I do I learn something different. The vBox slows things down a bit because you have to unplug it and then power it up in the next car and wait for the satellite signals, so therefore I invested in a wireless timing light system with a x-mas tree for the 1 mile timing. Still haven't received it yet - but should have the whole system soon and will do some testing.
  19. I thought I would contribute any information I had. I wasn't talking shit about anyone. I was told he was registered with 2 cars, and his Ford GT had an ecu problem in Austin. Now this is all 3rd party information, I cannot verify it myself because I am not there, just as much of the information that has been supplied in the prior posts. Best bet is to wait for the results posted on the website to verify anything.
  20. Portable tree with timing through the 1 mile and time slips will be printed. vBox will be used to verify top speeds.
  21. UGR's Viper - stock clutch is slipping UGR's Yellow G TT - they are making a gear change UGR's Orange G TT - is about to make another pass - no engine issues Some guy "Peak" Ford GT is broken
  22. 1:40pm Today Kyle went 231mph on his second pass 2:45pm today Heffner TT Viper raced SW in an Underground Racing TT G 1000hp - SW Won in a Rolling Race more to come as it comes through....
