  1. Andrew, Have been trying to PM & IM you but it's just sitting there. e-mail me at [email protected]
  2. Just read more about this on other posts. See that you had a clutch done. If master and slave are fine then the arm would be the best suspect. If I have it correct yours also has a pin on the end of the arm which rests on the piston of the slave. This pin needs to be correctly in line with the slave or it will bend or break. I know this to be fact as I learned the hard way as I replaced 2 pins in a mater of days because the alignment was off.
  3. Andrew. Sorry I could not write sooner as I have been in FL for the last week. Just my 2 cents but I had the EXACT same thing happen to me on my Roadster. Both times it was the clutch slave cylinder. Both times the clutch reservoir showed full or near full. One time (the second time) hard to engage gears and then all of a sudden it emptied itself on the floor. The last time I replaced slave and master. No problems since it's been over a year now. Forget about the syncros. The only syncro broblem is with the fork on first only. Happens on occasion but rarely. There is one other possible thing to consider. The arm from the slave to the pivot arm on the trans. These do break. Would not be suprised that one would bend before it breaks. They are under lots of pressure. Don't panic. Check/deal with these 3 things first. More likely one of these then a true trans problem. Let me know what you find. Dave. (Pocono with the silver 6.0)
  4. phxdiablo Don't feel so bad. When I bought my Roadster I had the full paperwork history on it and a PPI. Just before I picked it up it had 2 new front shocks and a new clutch paid for by the previous owner. Within the first 9 months both front shocks went (when I say went I MEAN they went, bigtime) and a head gasket went. Absolutly no way of predicting it or holding anyone responsable. Remember it's Italian. Clutch has 5 years on it now and is still strong.
  5. This is getting silly now You all can hammer me when it turns out not to be the starter but this is like your wife or girlfiend who finds a pair of panties in the wash that aren't hers and thinks "Oh there's some other explination for this" :axe:
  6. Romandad, If it were the alternator to my knowledge it would be the FIRST alternator to go on a 6.0. Lambo alternators can be tough as tanks and RARELY go even on older models.
  7. OK as much as I would like to keep quiet I just can't (sorry Allan). While not a mechanic in the proper sense (though I am an engineer and have done work for the automotive industry) -- THINK PEOPLE!! If the car started and was idling, even if the battery was on death's door the car would never die and would continue to run with electrical power being supplied by the alternator.. e.g. it CAN'T be the battery! DUH!!! [-(
  8. Let's see. Just my opinion. Allan I know you know your stuff but not counting parts what can you get done on these cars for under $1,000? Seems like vertually nothing when you acutally have a problem.
  9. I quess how long it should take and add 10%. In this case a safe harbor guess would be 30 hours (not unreasonable). Times X labour rate + 10% say oooooooooh $2500-$4000. Depending on your labour rate. This way I won't feel ill when I get the final bill. :vom: Let me know I bet I'm not far off.
  10. phxdiablo Yes and no. Yes it's very minor from the standpoint of an engine problem (i.e. head gasket, bent rods, blown piston, seized engine, etc) but it may be more of a big problem from a labor position. If we assume that I'm correct it's quite rare that this would happen (but does) on a 6.0. Not the fault of the car just sometimes shit happens though your key ring comment is open for argument. If that was the cause of it that's unfortunate. The location and replacement of starters in all diablos can be quite tricky. I do not have first hand experance with the changing of the 6.0 starter but from what I have heard from those who have had first hand experance it can be quite a laborious job. Time is $'s. Not an afternoon job.
  11. phxdiablo Just checked with a friend of mine. Judging from what you describe don't waste you're time with the hope of something small. I'll bet the farm it's a seized starter that stuck engaged.
  12. p.s. You ask why would the engine die while idling? If the starter was engaged and it did seize that could cause the enging to stop dead. It's like accadently letting up on the clutch with the parking break on. On second thought I wouldn't worry about electrical problems. Would lay bets that the starter was stuck engaged and seized. The key to my Roadster and the 6.0 are on their own NEVER with other keys.
  13. Starter. A badly damaged starter could cause a short that will kill other things. If it's just to check if a motor is locked never push in 1st you'll be working against your self put it in 5th. This may sound silly but keep this in mind. If the starter is still engaged and seized slim chance you'll get the motor to turn even if the engine is fine. The seized starter will prevent it. It's the starter just hope the short has not caused any other electrical issues.
  14. Allen, Did usspeedo do your/the cluster above?
  15. modman. Do you have their contact info? Thanks in advance.
  16. While there's not much to see our car is on the Larini site. You can see it on the link below http://www.larinisystems.com/featured-systems.php
  17. alexkviper, Will take some pics and post but it will take a few days as my schedual is a bit hectic for the next few days. Dave Just read my post and see it's slightly disjointed. Regarding the "resonating" sound I talk about is just that your more concious about it. More so to do with the car then the pipes. I've heard this from other people wether it be Larini, Tubi or what ever. Overall of the 2 others I've heard my Larini sounds deeper. (To me  )
  18. I have a Larini on my 6.0. Sounds deeper then Tubi. Definatly louder in the cockpit (without stock box) but not so loud as to be anoying. Only one down side is I get a realy loud resonating inside at around 1900-2200 RPM's. Though most of the time the RPM's are above. Can be a bit much in traffic but overall I give it an A+.
  19. I've seen them. Where can I get them for a 97 Roadster? Can I get just the face plates or do I have to buy all the gages?
