  1. Chip, its a wet sump motor so you're ok doing a preliminary check even if the engine is cold as long as the car is level. Even though I'm new to Lambos, my experience with other wet sump motors is that if the oil reaches the bottom mark of the dip stick when cold, it will reach the middle of the min/max marks when warm. You can top off the oil after checking once the engine has warmed up later.
  2. Chip, in your case the oil pressure sender or the actual gauge is probably the issue. Get that checked out first. You can play with oil grades after. Hope my banter with Jota1995 didn't hijack your thread :-) Just trying to add to the tech conversation.
  3. What you're saying is correct in theory, unfortunately in real life high output mid-engine motors inevitably run very hot regardless of how well the cooling system is working resulting in possible oil shear and/or lower oil pressure. The only real fix to this is using thicker oil if the car is driven hard for sustained periods. I checked with a couple of Lambo techs, and they all advised me to switch to 15w50. DC area summers are hot enough that I don't need 5w protection at start up - 15w works just fine. But the 50 weight at operating temperatures provides the added insurance during hard driving. If I remember correctly, the Lambo factory actually told Simon George (he's a member here and an EVO writer) to switch to Agip Racing 4T 20w50 on both his V12 cars to deal with low oil pressure after hard driving (see EVO 132).
  4. Chip - great meeting you today. Beautiful car. Get it checked out by Richard/Fernando as soon as you can. After today's drive, my cold oil pressure on start up was 8 bar dropping to 3 bar at idle once warmed up. This was using M1 5w40 TSUV oil (a really good Group IV oil - probably the best off-the-shelf M1 you can buy). I will be switching to Motul 300V 15w50 on my next fluid change just as an insurance for the heat and humidity of VA.
  5. Very understated color! What color is the interior? Do you have any more pictures? FYI - I already bought an SV (Jeff's old car) and I'm just curious about your car.
  6. If you're talking about the red SV, Brian Albertson (Exotic Car Search) has that for sale. This was a yellow SV that Roy had for sale on consignment. I'm guessing this is probably Jason/Jaime's car since the likely hood of two yellow SVs in Xenia, Ohio is pretty low.
  7. I was on the check with our franchised dealer sponsors website and saw that they were based in Xenia, Ohio. Maybe this was Jason & Jaime Jones' car. The car used to be in California (Steve @ Driven Exotics used to service it). Since the car is no longer on Roy's website, I can only assume it went to a good home.
  8. Beautiful car Chip. Hope to see you soon.
  9. Congrats to the new owner. I'm down for a VA cruise if you're planning one.
  10. Not exactly in DC - in Northern Virginia. Good luck with Brian - you can't go wrong with him. Thanks for the compliments guys!
  11. I started looking for a Challenge Stradale last summer when Brian Albertson at Exotic Car Search showed me a 99 Diablo SV. It wasn’t an F-car and it didn’t drive as well as the CS, but the sheer drama around the SV made me feel like a 10 year old again. Decision made then. Not so quick. It took nearly a year of going back and forth with Jeff (the owner, he is an LP member) via Brian in the middle to convince him to sell the car to me. He was finally convinced last month and we signed the paper work nearly 11 months to the day that I had first seen the car. Well the car was delivered today. In my excitement I turned a little dial on my camera that underexposed all the pictures – I know, how stupid can I be? Fmylife. We can always take more pictures later :-) A few thanks before the picture: - Jeff for agreeing to give his car to a good home - Brian for dealing with me for a year and arranging the best car buying experience ever. If you’re in the market for an exotic give him a call for sure - Todd Doty at Lambo Denver for the PPI - Richard and Fernando at Competizione for their advice and reviewing the many pages of ECU read outs, service records, and compression test results - DC area F-chatters - LP and LT members And without further ado, pictures: Todd @ Lambo Denver the day of the PPI The truck is here! Car being unwrapped Rolling out Lowered on the lift Finally on terra firma Initially I had concerns about the car fitting in my garage – no problems getting in and out Now I just have to register the car here and try not to lose my license ;-)
  12. Thanks for the replies guys - any info you can get is appreciated!
  13. Don't have the exact location of the car, but it was titled in XENIA, OH. It's a yellow SV - do you know anything about this car?
  14. Thanks for the input guys. I know about the bad rep cats exotics has, but was hoping a PPI would be able to ferret out any problems with the car. I'm also in touch with Brian - but the yellow 99 SV he has is outside my price range. Now if only Brian would have a change of heart and drop the price a little :-)
  15. Does any one know a yellow 99 SV with VIN ZA9DU21B4XLA12185 ? Its in Ohio and is being consigned through cats exotics and a few others. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Thanks for the replies guys.
  17. Is that mirror tip to mirror tip? If so, won't folding in the mirrors give me some more room? I have a pretty wide drive way, so I could pull the car in dead center or is that just an accident waiting to happen?
  18. This might sound like a rather silly question, but will a Diablo SV fit into a regular garage bay? My garage door opening is 92 inches, so I'm assuming that the Diablo should be able to get in. But will I be able to open the door (I'm only concerned about driver side) inside the garage? Here are some pictures of the garage bay with my M5. There is a beam above the bay that is 8ft high from ground level, while the garage door rails are 7ft from the ground. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  19. Thanks for the tip - I'll follow up with ECS.
  20. Newbie posting here: Are there any no-story 99 Diablo SVs for sale? I recently started looking for a 99 SV, and everything I've seen publicly (dealers, ebay, cars.com etc) seems to have some story behind it (paint jobs, repairs etc.) or very little info (the Monterey edition car in KS). Anyone have a no-story 99 SV they want to let go to a good home?
