Perfect is very difficult to live up to. I don't think that word should be used with ANY car body part as almost everything without fail (OEM or not) requires work to make it right. If you doubt me, ask your local lambo shop how much prep work an oem murci/lp 640 or diablo bumper needs before its acceptable.
I completely agree with you. But if a vendor uses that word, he can't complain if the customer won't accept anything less. And frankly, if the grills or splitter don't fit properly, that's not just less than perfect, it's less than reasonable. But we'll see. Hopefully these few preliminary reports aren't signs of a pervasive problem, or at least one that can't be remedied easily.

With all the talk about the wait being necessary to ensure a "perfect" product, I'm not going to be a happy camper if it's anything less than that. The color match on the prepaints I can understand because there is always a risk in that, but the issues with the grills and the c/f piece are unacceptable.
But LAMBO-N-IT said his grills and c/f piece were perfect--maybe he can clarify how closely he's looked at them. Could be a quality control issue.

You are 3M'ing it that quick after paint? I was told to let the paint breathe for 30 days before 3Ming it.
I asked Hersh about that (he had mine done before shipping it), and he said with the way the body shop down there bakes them it wasn't necessary for them to cure more than a few days. I hope he's right, although I'm not sure there would be a way to tell unless you removed the film at some point.

Has anyone actually installed OEM grills yet? Just wondering if we know for sure that they will fit (even if they fit the opening the attachment points could be different, etc.).
-
Yes.
Maybe I missed it earlier in the thread, but why are you ordering OEM grills when it's supposed to come with grills?
-
An increase of 214rwhp (70% over stock) on 6.8 psi? Is that even possible?
-
I don't know if Hersh is including installation instructions or not as I haven't received my bumper yet (I seem to recall him saying he was going to, but I could be wrong), but if one of you enterprising early installers wants to do a write-up on the install it would be most appreciated.

Can someone PM me Herschel's cell? My BlackBerry Bold died so I lost a bunch of numbers.
I don't think there is any need to PM it as he posted it a few pages back--718-496-8751.

Fred, Rhynos bumper was a honest mistake if you read above. Of course it should be painted black
Actually it shouldn't need to be painted at all as Hersh said some time back that the bumpers are being made in black poly. It should be able to be simply left unpainted.
-
Can we choose to not have ours drilled? Or have they all been cut already? Thanks!
You may already know this, but the part of the bumper he's talking about drilling is located behind the grill, so it really shouldn't be visible with the grill on.
-
Also, the front grill opening looks smaller than the space available. Is that the case with the LP560 as well?
Happy Trails.
This came up several pages back. The grill will cover the entire opening. The problem I see here is based on the earlier post the area behind the grill should have been left black and not painted orange, because the orange part will be visible through the grill.

Hey Hersh, for the ones you've had painted and for those of us who might want to have clear bra applied to it, how long do you recommend we wait before having the bra applied? I'm assuming the paint needs to cure for some period of time before putting the film on it.
-
Looks good Hersh, and I hope there's a black one painted and ready to go. Let me know if you didn't get my paint code.

I am very much interested in the carbon fiber mod for the headlights... where are these available?
-
Do you have any updates?
Once I can find time to pull the light (and figure out how to do it--hopefully it won't be too hard) I think I'm going to send it to the guy in Tampa you told me about and give him a shot at machining the chips out.
-
Ok, I've found a guy (not local) who says he can sand the chips out. The next question is how difficult is it to remove the entire light assembly?
-
Thanks for the diagram and info. Ocparts, if it can be removed, what is it that keeps it sealed from the factory? Does it use a rubber type seal or something else?
-
You might try this at evilbay. Looking at the pictures it does look like the lens is part of the casing and not seperate.

I've actually exchanged emails with that seller going back a few days, and the problem is he has no idea why it was removed from the car and won't guarantee that it works. Which leads back to my question. If the lens is removeable, it wouldn't matter if it works or not as I could swap lenses onto my headlight. If not, then buying a non-working headlight is money down the drain.
-
I dont think you can. The lense is Glass. You might want to see ifyou can get it buffed out.
The lens/outer cover I'm talking about definitely isn't glass. It's some sort of plastic/polycarbonate. I wish it were glass as I probably could use a filler like they use on windshields. This is what makes me wonder if it's possible to remove the lens:
-
I know you can't buy the lens separately (unfortunately), but I have some rock chips on one and wondered if I found a non-functional G headlight with a good lens if I could just swap the lenses. Thanks.
-
I'm assuming the hole in the right side grill is to access the tow hook? And is there is a plug of some sort that goes there? Looks good Hersh.
-
Looks good Hersch! Good Job!
Looking good Herschel. Are the air inlets shown in the previous pics optional or required (I know the lower splitter is optional but wasn't sure about the inlets inside the larger openings)?

Honda lost a lawsuit based on a 3.75% odo error...id be curious if the odometer is 10% off as well..i see that doltmo has done a visual, has anyone done a official calibrated odo reading besides what the dealer is saying?
I haven't (and would also be interested to hear if someone has), but I'd bet a significant sum of money that my odo is off at least 10%. It was very noticeable the first time I drove the car.

Hi Ronnie,
I have had a couple of cars experience some e gear related shifting issues at the 1000 horsepower level. We are currently in the process of re writing files in the factory control modules to correct this. There are definitely a handful of differences that must be considered when TTing an e gear car.
Thanks for the feedback Jason. It seemed to me there must be some issues once the power level is increased beyond a certain point.
Who wants an LP560 front bumper?
