  1. Simple explanation... recieved an email saying the race location would be by Neptunes Nest @ 9 am. For those that dont know where neptunes nest is.. it is the exact location with the ferrari race scene in fast and furious... also where the Enzo lost control and crashed. One of the most heavily patroled areas, not to mention dangerous areas to race. They had specified 1 or 2 40-120 mph races to which I declined.. Not interested in killing myself, someone else or going to jail...

why don't you suggest a time and location?

  2. I'm sure everyone found out that's its much easier to go fast on a dyno than on an airport runway :) Traction and tire choices are really tough for mile events.

I made one run on drag radials at the Texas mile....I'll never make another run. Those soft sidewalls are TERRIBLE above 200mph..

    R6's FTW

  3. The ford gt shattered A cam gear yesterday while tuning. He is trying to fix it to come out by the end of the day. Everyone is just getting warmed up right now. So far only 186mph. More to come as Eddie bello just finished tuning his car. About 60-70 cars that are running+ a huge car show.

hope they get it running. Please update this thread if they do or don't show. Thanks

what happened to the other 1000 hp cars?

  4. I hope you are right Joe. 249mph would be awesome, and should be a record if I am not mistaken. I believe there are 4-5 confirmed cars (could be more) at or over 1000rwhp, so it should be interesting.

Crazy thing is that these guys put the finishing touches on it yesterday, and are out street tuning a 1750-1800 crank hp car!

my 226.200 mph is the standing mile record for a Ford GT.

  5. I just watched the 220mph run and unless they have changed the gearing in this car since then I don't think it will go over 238 (provided they are running more power now).

They have obviously changed the gearing from stock (for the 220mph run). He was shifting into 6th at 200mph. They probably did the 3.9 gear change on this car (not good for top speed runs)

I was in 5th at 226 with stock gearing. I never shifted into 6th.

there are a bunch of unknowns on being able to predict a speed for this car.

  6. With this much HP on a RWD car I would say the trap speed will depend on traction in 1-3rd gears and how good the driver is.

With my car and 994 rwhp I was getting FULL traction in second gear and up with the R6's in the rear. I would hit it hard enough in first on the launch to get wheelspin at roughly 5000-5500rpm and then I would slam it into second and all there was to do was to watch the rpm gauge and shift about 100-200rpm before the redline.

if the weather is 70 degrees and minimal wind I will predict 249.

the above prediction is if it stays together and on the track.

There is one little known fact about the GT that I am curious if it will come up (not a safety issue but more a mechanical "thing"). I'm not going to say what it is before the run. The driver of this car would be able to confirm or deny after his run(s).

  7. After reading some of the comments in the article and elsewhere, I never cease to be amazed how some people derive such glee at the misfortunes of others. I guess that it makes them feel better about their pitiful lot in life.

equally fun is seeing the different and very wrong theories of why things (wrecks usually) happened.

Couple I have seen on this one alone......

insurance gig........not, he just bought it 4 weeks ago

going way too fast for so and so street. not this time

  8. I have seen that article before and the article is speculation on the Veyron GT also known

as the Grand Prix. As to date there has been no customer car. The factory has been testing a few

mule cars and pictures have been floating around on the web. Many people thought it would have been unvailed at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show but that was not the case.

yep, I agree. was just posting it so it could be read.

  9. Yes Jason you did win but my 900 clutch plates would not hold even at mid boost. You did not even seen the whole power of the car. Again no excuses and a race is a race but when I punched my car and started pulling you could obviously see the effect at 27psi. My car was pulling in 2nd gear and I could not see you, I hit third still could not see you, at top of third the clutch would not hold so I let go to preserve the clutch for my mile contest. I even hit 4th then I saw you creeping up. Now this is the story and the video will back up my talk. Just wanted to chime in and tell everyone the whole story. BTW, my new 1330 plates and dot slicks hook the whole power on the ground:)

no worries, I didn't think posting the details in my post was necessary. We both know what happened.

when you didn't see me it's because I was 1/2 a car link behind you....right in your blindspot.
