  1. fcuk that supra was insane................
  2. As I said, it's a matter of opinion. For me it's a catch 22, the Countach more than any other car offers two superb experiences. Firstly, I agree it is a fantastic driving experience....but it's also a marvel just to gorp at. It would sadden me to see mine deteriorate- even slightly. Every time i go to the garage it still pleases me just as much as the 1st time just to admire it.
  3. Maybe i'm very lucky, but I have dynoed my car a couple of times and had some v.healthy results?? My car is standard with the exception a a full ss quicksilver system and new ecu. It revs nicely to 7,800rpm and on the right day pulls the high 480's/90's. I race the car fairly regularly and it will happily keep up with gallardo's and 911 turbo's until 150 or 160. On a rolling start I am faster than a gallardo low down. I manage to get a nice tail slide, with a good change, in both 2nd and 3rd. I am not convinced that, certainly the euro cars, were given optimistic power ratings. I do however feel, that how the car is set up will determine the difference of anything up to 50bhp. These engines were not built by computers. This being said, aerodynamics will always take over and the very top end, however much power you have. That being said, the '88 evoluzione managed 204mph without too many aerodynamical or mechanical mods, instead opting for a massive weight saving. Incidentally, except for the rev limiter it was pretty standard- and produced a confirmed 494bhp. How do the us injected cars perform?
  4. Take a look at www.mobile.de and you can see what countach's can fetch over here. One recently sold for £89,000......or $157,000...albeit a v.v.v. low miler.
  5. Ok, ok......Jack Barclay indeed....but its owned by the HR Owen group. Had no idea vw owned audi though.....
  6. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. With 7000 on it my current 25th has dynoed just shy of 500bhp / 404 lbft, so is running well despite the low miles. Personally, I am still struck by the fact that every time I see my car, it looks as though it has literally just rolled out of the factory- for me that is important & is only possible with a well maintained low milage car. (sorry but restorations aren't the same)
  7. Not necessarily so....mine only has 7000 miles on the clock but is driven most weekends for at least an hour.....and most importantly.....hard. This is the main thing, these engines welcome a good spanking. If you pussyfoot, dont hit the high revs etc...then you will have problems. Old school & proper.
  8. Although definately a one one up of ferrari ( :vom: ), it seems strange that despite having no ties to Lamborghini whatsoever the Veyron would appear to be for sale only at OfficiaL Lambo dealers the world over. Over here in the UK, it is solely available through HR Owen lambo. Maybe it would be a little odd having this thing sitting next to the latest golf tdi in a local showroom! Also, am i right in thinking that unlike the earlier and wonderful eb110's, the veyron is in fact predominantly designed and built at a special VW department? In effect it's a vw....as good as it may be, those boys at st #### need a talking too.....the most outrageous has always been lambo's crown, no?? How times have changed....1987; VW-8v 4cyl Golf Mk2....Lambo-48v 12cyl Countach. Hmmmm.....houston, we have a problem!!
  9. Alos, points taken on keeping the ct and buying a diablo in addition...unfortunately thats just not an option right now! Also good news, i've just seen rather a special 94 diablo for sale...not in this country though, but boy what a looker. Im a bit worried about posting it though in case someone goes and buys it!!! Will keep you up to date!
  10. Ok guys, wow, hugely appreciating all of this!! Ok, Ive driven another one....and someone must be frowning on me because Im still far from convinced?? Im beginning to doubt the performance difference in the 0-130ish bracket, which seems logical. A good ct can be in the high 400's, like the early to mid diablos, but weighs some 200kg less? The diablo feels heavy by comparison on smaller roads, not nimble or flighty. Never going to get used to that interior either. Im off to try an SE 30 tomorrow....heres hoping- expecting some serious performance. Comments on the 6.0 taken on board...wow what a machine- and that interior....I could live with that!!! Gorgeous.
  11. Ok, thanks for that Autotech. That makes a lot of sense.
  12. Hi Romandad, yes apparently it is, but when adjusting something that big- where do you put it?? Also, just take a look at it....it's ugly as hell, it's lambo sacrilege!!
  13. Thanks Qvpower- point noted! I went to test drive a '94 Diablo about an hour ago. I was hugely dissapointed! For starters there is this montrous block for a dashboard, as big as a tv set which stops you seeing out properly, not to mention hideous to look at- what were they thinking??? Very not Lambo. The clutch pedal was much harder than my car, and a lot less solid. The car rattled and bumbed on all but the smoothest surfaces. The gear gate looks cheap and under designed. On putting the power down it didn't howl like the 25th? If this is typical of the diablo im shocked, I was expecting a whole lot more. The whole driving experience was genuinely a lot less in your face than my car- and up to 100 it didn't feel nearly as fast. My first impressions are definately (I hate to say it) but it's no replacement for a good Countach. Please tell me I was just unlucky!! Maybe I should look at a later model- an SE 30 possibly??
  14. Im hoping someone can give me an honest opinion here. I currently own a 25th Anv Countach, which is genuinely one of the best around. i have maintained it to the max, although to be honest, apart from an ecu NOTHING has ever gone wrong! I drive it very hard on a regular basis, and although it has only done 6000 miles, they are virtually all by me and flat out. The car has been dynoed at close to 500bhp, and it gives a Gallardo a hard time until about 130- thereafter the aerodynamics take over unfortunately. Lamborghini uk tell me its the best countach they've driven.....but im thinking of selling it. How would a mid 90's Diablo compare, without stating the obvious.....better brakes....more modern etc... Id really appreciate some opinions,
  15. How much bhp/torque in your lexus? If it's capable of beating a 360 you must have spent more than your car is worth on mods? Or you have stripped it out of everything except for its wheel and shifter!
