  1. You "suggest I do too"? I'm sorry, but who are you again? Wow. I never crowned any car as the King, did I?
  2. There are dildos in both owner groups, Ferrari and Lambo.
  3. Maybe take some of your own advice and save your judgement as well. Have you driven either the Superleggera or Scuderia? If not, then how can you pass judgement? From what I understand from those who have driven the Scuderia, it is similar to driving a street legal F430 Challenge Car (if there was such a thing), with more compliant ride characteristics. And I do have experience with the F430 Challenge Car. How is it that you are able to pass judgement on this car, I can't? Interesting. And refresh my memory again, which cars have you owned and/or substantially driven?
  4. I take it you didn't watch the video?
  5. Cool test. Listen to that transmission.
  6. Anti-Ferrari crowd: It is sad that you cannot recognize a great product, regardless of the badge. To say that Ferrari is relying on perception of the brand, I think that statement holds more truth regarding Lambo. And F1 inspired is nonsense? Come on now. Get real. No disrespect to Lambo, but L-P is probably one of the very few places where many of the people would take a G SL over a Scuderia. The GT2 is a great car. You posted Porsche marketing material. What is your point? Let's post the Ferrari and Lambo marketing material while we are at it. The bottom line is that some people here have a burr in their butts about Ferrari. That is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion, although it is refreshing to know that there are still some unbiased enthusiasts on this site. There are so many great cars in this segment now, that it is difficult to justify bashing any of them (Scuderia, GT2, GT3, Superleggera).
  7. Aram does those too. Sometimes on the straightaways...
  8. Really? That is surprising, the brakes in that car seemed to be pretty robust looking. How long did you guys stick around for after I left? I wish I would have had time to stick around, but I was running late as it was.
  9. Now he will be able to impress the patio restaurant patrons again.
  10. Various sources on the internet. Type in "SLR weight", and go from there.
  11. That's interesting, because the SLR is spec'd at a weight of 3985, dry.
  12. That's an impressive looking structure, but I wonder where all the weight in the SLR comes from? And I agree that the SLR is lighter than the LP640, but the 599? From all data that I have seen, the 599 is roughly 200 pounds lighter. Am I missing something?
  13. I haven't raced an SLR from a roll yet, but it would be interesting to see the result. As for the race we did, I shifted into 4th gear just before the finish line. In order for me to get into 4th gear, it had to be in the high 130's. I don't know about you, but I think the SLR would definitely need some good mods to beat my GT. The other thing to recall with my car is that it dyno'ed at 640rwhp, and 602rwtq. That was only after 2 dyno runs, hot engine, no cool down (I drove the car to the dyno, threw it on, and got 2 quick readings). I have a feeling that if we let the car cool down for a few hours, then did the dyno run, the car would actually give a much better result. So, I have a feeling that my car is possibly more than 640rwhp if we allowed the car to cool properly.

    722 GTR

Wow, really? I would have thought that it would feel identical, considering that one of them is automatic with 1000hp, and the other is manual with 550hp. Hmmm.
  15. I guess our video was staged also. Unless you've got more hp than a 722, at significantly less weight, in the words of Ivan Drago from Rocky 4..."you vill lose" So then, what does your car dyno at, and what is the actual weight? And how does that compare to a stock 722?

    722 GTR

Oh, gotcha. I can't comment on SMG, don't know enough about it.
  17. You wish. Your car has 130 less hp at the crank and weighs 500 pounds more. Does your car defy the laws of physics?

    722 GTR

Those guys are just feeding you bullshit. There are plenty of manual transmissions that can handle far more torque. The transmission in the Ford GT is rated to over 800 lb-ft. My car has about 690 lb-ft, and the tranny handles it easily. I recognize that car is a race car, but the interior is absolutely ridiculous. Even race cars should have interiors that look reasonably appealing.

    722 GTR

Huge cash grab, and a way for them to use up chassis's.
  20. I wonder what this will mean to V12 purists. Many enthusiasts associate "real" Ferrari's only have 12 cylinders. I wonder if this change in direction by Ferrari will change their minds, or if they will continue to lust after the Enzo's and MC12's of the world? Would this mean also that the long-term value of the Enzo will continue to escalate based on the V12 platform?

    722 GTR

I love the fine detailing of the 722 numbering. Classy.
  22. I used to think that way, until I drove the 599GTB and F430. The modern Ferrari transmissions are awesome. And dare I say, waaaay better than E-Gear. I know that isn't a popular comment here, but it really isn't even close in that department. If I was buying a Lambo, I would take manual 6-speed, but with a modern Ferrari, I would definitely go F1 tranny for sure. Hopefully the VW/Audi parent company will allow the DSG to find its way into Lambo's at some point in the near future. Then it would level the playing field in the transmission area.
  23. I just watched the AutoCar video test of the 430 Scuderia, and wow, that gearbox is unreal. It's like watching an F1 race (in terms of transmission shifts). Makes me wish that Lambo would use the DSG gearbox in the Gallardo, and offer RWD.
