  1. Interesting this has come up. A little update.

I was playing a rugby match in the early part of Jan, a player came in from the side made contact with my head with his knee. The movement in the ruck meant I got moved in a difficult way.

The ref asked me to leave the pitch for a head injury assessment.

The result was concussion and a week off work.

A week later I could not understand why I had such horrific back pain.

I saw a chiropractor and had some treatment but I was not responding well.

Fast forwards a bit, I get an x ray. I have the smallest of small fractures on a disc.

More time off work and excruciating pain not just in the back but up and down the siatic nerve. Like electric shocks and hammering pain combined. It has been a proper pants year

  2. It is amazing how we write off Porsche as being an exotic. For years I did (and clearly others here do to) then for me a visit to the museum in Stuttgart has changed my opinion completely.

If they were a movie character they would be Patrick Bateman: Smooth, stylish and completely unhinged.

  3. Because Porsche is actually doing what they should have done from the get go: Give their customers the car they wanted, a GT3 with a manual. Not a wingless GT3 (911R), not a 911 engine in a manual car (GT4), but an actual current GT3 with a manual. The new 991.2 is more like "It's about damn time" :lol2:

    I actually disagree with this.

Porsche did exactly what it should do and listened to their customers.

They watched what their cars on the market were doing.

They wanted an exclusive run stripped down basics yet finely packaged car so they delivered in the R.

They have full order books on the gt3.2, the turbo and the Panamera turbo.

When you hear that McLaren are already discounting the 720s and some dealers in the US are discounting the performante you see what a first grade job Porsche have done.

Out of all the brands that get mentioned on this board they are the one that is always on the money.

  4. I have a Qnap TS453A with four WD red drives, 8T storage with full redundancy. Have a portable HD hooked to it that double backs super critical stuff. Drives can be hot swapped right through the front if you ever need to.

Works as my private email server, wifi backup for all our devices, will stream 4K movies as a media server (or hdmi directly into the tv). Comes with a few licenses to run ip cameras, and tons of available apps.

It's a little overkill for typical home use, but it works awesome. The biggest thing for me was the awesome user interface, im not an it expert so it needed to be pretty simple to use.

    This

Qnap do some wicked kit that would meet your brief and more. Time capsule is a very expensive overrated nas box.

  5. I think there will be a rerun of this year's championship. Strong Ferrari representation for 3/4 of the season but a fall off.

Merc will a little clumsy here and there this season, only really when the summer break approached did they truly tighten everything down. Bottas is good for sure, how good remains to be seen but the car works.

Mercs biggest problem was the aero following a car, they cannot rely on the pole position all the time. Will they sort that in 2018?

The real juice is around the other teams. McLaren switch from the fourth worst engine to the third worst engine is interesting, I hope it works and works well because Hamilton on Vettel on Verstappen on Alonso are stories that only come along once a decade if that.
