  1. Well the car was sold to me as having a new clutch , the car had a couple small issues so the dealer i bought it from sent me to a local upercar garage near where i live , they checked it all over and said the clutch was slipping . I hadnt at all noticed this until they mentioned it , but then it never slips shifting gear but does req a little more pedal in first gear to make it move . The dealer i got it from has today said he has sent the rar to lamborghini ( not seen the proof yet ) and the test says its still got 98% left on it which is good . But they said the odd way its acting they think is down to a faulty throttle body ( its ticking over a little high ) could this be the case , i have had a couple issues with the dealer so will call lamborghini directly to back this up , seems odd as i was told on friday it was booked in with them but when i called they said it wasnt . Taken me a long time to get my dream car and it has to be right . Thanks in advance

What year? e-gear or manual? And what do you mean it requires more pedal in first? Do you mean it's hesitating as you get on the throttle?

  2. I'll be in Portland for turkey day... and out in Bend is a Defender 90 I wanna see.

You should come check out the Jalpa! We could probably introduce you to the rest of the LP members here in bend too. There's a few of us, we'll just have to give them a heads up. I certainly can't guarantee the weather will cooperate to cruise in it, but you can at least come see it.

  3. Some new-ish reports are saying he was a former Sunday school teacher but now hated religious people...I haven't heard anything about his political affiliation but honestly I'm not sure how much it matters. He was in jail for a year for beating his wife and kicked out of the military because of it, how in the hell did he get a gun? DV charges, much less convictions, typically result in not being able to own firearms, so was this an old gun he kept? Did he purchase it after his conviction? If so from where? Neighbors say they heard him shooting (or at least someone on his property shooting) at odd hours, and no one from LE checks up on it, given his conviction and subsequent discharge? And yes I know, he's a criminal with a gun, like many criminals with guns, but he was pretty open about possessing a gun and I wasn't like he was trying to hide that fact, given the fact he openly bragged on Facebook about having one, and no one thought to ask why this crazy assbag had a gun?

From what I've read so far this morning:

    - Did not have disqualifying history at the time he bought the gun

    - May have been targeting his mother in-law, as she apparently went to that church

    - Dude is a piece of crap

  4. Alright, got my alignment pretty damn well eyeballed. I started with 1/4-1/2" toe out (could actually fit a finger width on the back measurement).

I fought the nuts off of the old union after... a lot of fighting. I'm baffled how in the hell anyone drove that thing so poorly aligned. Anyway, it's now at a happy 1/8" toe in. I'll have it brought in for a professional alignment though at some point, but that should solve my steering walking issue of it going all over the damn place. Soon as I'd get on the throttle it'd walk a bit here and there and I thought, "ok yeah that feels like toe out."

My trackday project did that when I first swapped suspension, and it was the same thing. Though I haven't taken the suspension apart in the front on the Jalpa, which is why I was confused. Part of me wonders if the previous owner had someone just put it back together and that stuff was apart at some point, or someone dabbled with it, or put new parts on it and never aligned them. Who knows.

    Either way, much better now.

    Toe out before, geeeeeez

Toe in now on both sides

  5. Well, took it for test drive #3 today. Steering was still walking a little. Went ahead and measured. Was told by someone very familiar with the Jalpa and Countach that the toe should be 1/8" IN. I'm nearly half an inch OUT, which explains a lot. Soaking the nuts for the tie rod adjustment and will fix it in the morning. Easy fix, but that means it's nearly 3/4" off total, that's nuts. Mind you the front suspension wasn't apart the entire time I did this, so it isn't like something went out of whack from putting it together, it came that way.

EIther way will fix and remeasure in the morning.

  6. Friend came over last night and detailed the hell out of it. Paint really came back to life.

Here's the before. Yes that's blood, no I didn't hit anyone, it's not a mustang. I sliced my finger open on a piece of metal and was trying to get the damn latch to close. Apparently there was a nice little bur on one of the pieces of metal I cut off in there and forgot about. I was frustrated and I said "fcuk it." and kept trying and unfortunately it was just blood all over. I did get the latch closed and adjusted though yay.

  7. Well done Derek. That car was majestic in its first life and deserved the new lease on life you gave it. My hat is off to you for the labor of love rebuild/restoration of #359. Welcome to the club & enjoy your LAMBO.

I plan on reviving the ultrasmith stuff on it that was damaged from the mess of everything, poor car. I want to put some interesting twists to it with some modern tech, but I feel it would do the car justice to be just as majestic as it was. That'll be stuff i'll do over the winter though, but should be rad as hell. Any luck on finding any of the old photos? Thank you for the kind words. Means a lot.

  8. Wow that must be the best feeling in the world, it’s amazing that you restored this Jalpa on your own and now it runs and drives! Huge congrats to you.

It's a weird feeling I'm still processing. 4 years ago I felt overwhelmed and it was a crazy amount to take on. Now I'm driving it down the street going, "holy shit! this is mine? I DID IT!" it feels fantastic.
