  1. No affiliation. But one of my friends pointed me to BaT and apparently my old 914 that I sold to make room for the jalpa is now on there. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-porsche-914-16/ Not gonna lie.... it's mad tempting to bid on it and buy it back. I MISS that car, dearly.
  2. Jalpa is good. Was driving it all over last summer, but ended up running into a self inflicted clutch issue. Ended up doing a full engine out to fix it. It's fixed now, and I haven't had time to slap it all back together. I need to pull the intake runners off and do some repairs on those. Appears my machinist tightened them down way too much, and 3 of them cracked where he overtightened them. It isn't affecting vacuum or performance, but I don't want to wait for it to because that could mean melted pistons. So I'll pull them off and weld them up and slap them back on. It'll be back on the road probably mid december. It's got a pretty solid street tune at this point, I really need to take it in on the dyno and smooth out the last bits I have on it. But it's now pretty solid, I love it. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.
  3. still got the ducati. just going with my jalpa, the 997, ducky, and my trackday project that i've had forever. the rest are sold or in the process of being sold. work just doesn't allow me the time to work on stuff as much as i used to, so i'm reducing the number of cars i need to work on. So far i'm loving the C4S. I'm usually a RWD type of guy, but with us having snow here in the winter, i figured i'd go with the C4S and give it a try.
  4. So I decided to sell off most of my cars, kept the Jalpa and am keeping my little trackday fun project. Made some room and decided I'd upgrade and go to something more modern for my daily. I've been driving my little 931 for ages but in the winter time I get tired of the lack of creature comforts, and really, I missed having a 911. Like really really missed having a 911. So say hello to "Bast" (my girlfriend named her). My 2008 C4S. Sport crono, PSE, 6 speed.
  5. Don't waste your disposable income on crap you don't need. Use it to invest (be that in the market, building a business, or otherwise). The time will come once you're doing well enough that you can do that, but if you're in a position where disposable income isn't hefty, don't piss it all away on stuff to /look/ like you're trying to get somewhere (don't go finance yourself to the teeth on stuff you don't need). Don't let people who haven't accomplished such a thing tell you what you need to do if they were in your shoes. Find a mentor, someone who has built great things, gotten somewhere, demonstrated they know what they're doing, and listen, take notes, learn. Don't join an MLM lol. Almost every person I've met on here who has done badass stuff has either been heavily into investing, or started a business, or sold an idea, or found a way to fill a need. Also for what it's worth I have massive social anxiety coupled with clinical depression and hindsight being 20/20, the attention a lamborghini brings in the wild is uh, always interesting. I've learned to deal with it in time, but it's still always a bit of an odd experience for me when people just walk up and start getting excited at the gas station. My spidey senses go, "Am I getting robbed? Oh, no they're just excited to see the car."
  6. I haven't been on here in quite some time, but I'm back. So a couple things: The jalpa headlight motors are basically fiat x1/9 motors. They're a bit odd the way they work but there's a few things to keep in mind here. On the 4 wires on each motor, you will have 1 relay per headlight, and you will have a diode per headlight. The diodes are in the fuse box, and the relays are near the motor. The headlight motor is kind of a bear to get out, you'll need to remove the headlight lamp, so that you can access the rods, and disconnect them, so that you can get to the bolts that hold it in (10mm). In the case of it not coming up, you could be dealing with a bad ground to the relay itself. However, it's also possible it could be a diode. You could narrow this down by swapping a good known diode from the other headlight motor to the diode in the fusebox for that motor and see if it changes, same with the relay.
  7. Move to an island. Have private race track put on island. Buy multiple lambos to race on track on island. Never worry about being around people again.
  8. So... had a buddy rip apart the turbo on my K26 today because I simply do not have the time with work lately. Exhaust manifold: Cracked in 4 places Turbo: Cooked alive and stopped spooling Result: Somehow has managed to basically melt the turbine wheel without grenading.

    You're not the only one. I watched my neighborhood which had no houses built for about 6 blocks, just empty lots, since I bought my house after 2008. Then this year, suddenly 30 new houses in my neighborhood. Like watching weeds grow. My neighbors nextdoor rent the house, and are paying more than double what I pay for my house. The new houses are even more. The median household income here has not hardly budged, and makes very little sense. Construction jobs soaring through the roof, but once we hit that plateau, then what? Poof.

    Yeah, it's tempting. It feels like a huge crunch is coming and it feels similar to the last time. I'm usually a bull but the market feels... weird to me. Then again I don't have the expertise of romandad and many others, i'm still learning (aren't we always?)

    I might go ahead and wait for now and see if it pops up a hair more before I do that. There are some that I'm still down on but am not /too/ terribly concerned because they're high dividend paying stocks and they'll eventually make it all back. That said... I started in at 192 on my SPY and it hasn't done anything but go up up and up. Once that correction hits, you know it'll hop back. I'm really, really tempted. It'd be real nice to buy another lambo.

    Housing here in central oregon is insane. property is insane. cost of living is insane. it feels like 2007 here in central oregon again.
  17. Valid point, makes more sense they'll hold onto it for serious investors and become another huge stock like google.
  18. I wonder if they'll split again. It's way up. Given their previous stock split history I feel more like it's a question of, "When will AAPL split again someday?"
  19. I have not. My machinist expects around 300hp. Then again, Derek E's Jalpa dyno'd in at like 180-190 to the wheels. Stock is 255. I'm uncertain if that's an engine dyno or at the wheels. Either way, regardless, it'll be better than stock and that's all I care about, with efi that starts up happily, runs happily and has zero issues that don't require me constantly fcuking with the bastard DCNFs. Sorry for the late response everyone. Work has been insanely busy, and even tonight I've gotta get back to it, but I wanted to share the progress of the airboxes, which are ready to print. At high quality, 100 microns, it's going to take roughly 14 to 18 hours for each piece. Should have it on the car by the end of the week if I time it right. Can't wait to see the first one on the car. Finally can have some airboxes to fight the heat of the engine bay!
  20. Alright, finally working on the airboxes. My brain hurts enough for one night. Used Rhino to do a quick sketchup of what i want them to look like and am slowly working in google sketchup to get it where it needs to be. My brain hurts enough for one night so that's enough progress for tonight.

  22. got all of them printed out and in. the flow /seems/ much better, i need to flow test with a meter. but since there's no lip it's unmistakably better. response seems good. i need to get some pretty hardware to make them not just a test fit. after multiple revisions i've got some perfect 100 micron printed 40mm DCNF style velocity stacks. I already had one guy ask to buy a set on another forum so I was like "alright" and printed off another pair and sold him some. perfect 40mm DCNF velocity stack fit because why settle for retrofitting right? Haven't slept much. Quit my miserable corporate job to go to work for a local company with a paybump and amazing work. But it's a lot of work. Slept maybe 12 hours this week? Doesn't matter, love my team, love what I do now. This weekend is sleepy time and lambo stuff.
  23. Got a finished product at last. Multiple revisions and made some that fit them PERFECTLY with my own flare. Tried one out on my way to breakfast and the fit is perfect. Printing the last few and i'll have a full custom set. Plenums to be printed next. Got another 8 hours of printing to get these out since last 2 are at the same time. I need a larger printer already lol.
  24. So the velocity stacks from the original 42mm DCNF webers are a flow killer since they don't match. Been working this week on making some that I can print out. After that i'll print out some air boxes. These are 40mm, with a 7 degree peak at the top, then used some bends and flares to make a nice round bit at the top and merged them. Should be a nice improvement.
