Tspringer Report post Posted January 6, 2006 Well, not really..... I put a "Wanted" Ad at the Lamborghini Registry to perhaps help in my search for an LP400 or S1 LP400S. I got an email late Wednesday evening in reply. Here it is: "Hello, I have for sale Countach LP400 .Please contact me if interested. regards," From: [email protected] Right away this looks suspicious. But what the heck, I'll play. So I sent an email back saying I was interested and to please forward the VIN, pics, details on the car, where it is and price. Here is what I got back: "Hello, The car is in perfect condition and when I say this, I mean that it was never been in any accident and the engine is like new. No damage and not even a scratch. I am the first owner.I've atatched here some pics with my car. Version: 5000 S QV Chassis: HLA12094 Year : 1987 Km: 65.400 Km Colour: Red First Owner US version originally supplied to Los Angeles main dealer in April 1987. Exported back to Europe by official Lamborghini dealer in 1999 Sports injection and exhaust system. The price is $30,000 negociable. The car is in a perfect condition, the mileage is accurate, no scratches, no damages, no hidden defects.Kept it in a warm garage. My company has relations in the States and I worked there for 2 years. I had the oportunity to buy it from there and bring it with me when I came back. The car was bought from US, so it is US standards,so stay cool it´s perfect compatibile to your standards and you will don´t have to pay more duty taxes on it. And this is an impediment for me to sell it here cause, first, we have different standards and second will be very expensive for me to register it here.I have to pay an very expensive duty taxes. The car it is still registered in the States. What other info. would you like on it? It will be shipped from United Kingdom and I will pay the shipping and insurance charges.I will do the arrangements for shipping from here. The original receipt and all remainded warranty information packet with enrollment number is included for you. You have 10 days to inspect the car. I will wait for your email to let me know if you are interested in knowing more details about the purchase. Please note that I will use only an third party service for this transaction because they will protect both buyer and seller. Best Regards" Plus they sent some pics. The pics are of an absolutely PERFECT LP400. Ahhhhhh the VIN he sent is NOT for an LP400 and he says his car is a '87 5000QV..... clearly not the same car as in the pics. I will attempt to attach a couple of the pics: DRAT. Cannot add the photos it says they are wrong size and I have no idea how to resize them. Anyhow.... I emailed back asking why the VIN wasnt right, he said he had an '87 5000S QV and yet the photos were of an LP400 and to please send me copies of the title and most recent registration. This was the reply: "Hello, I am located in Franklin TN,USA.I can't send you copies of title and certificate because I currently have a loan for this car and the bank is in possession of the title. As soon as I receive full payment from seller, I will pay the bank and forward the title to you as soon as I receive it. We will not use anymore a thir party because I am speaking seriously about this It was a mistake in my previous e-mail at car's year. Please escuse me, best regards," So.... I sent back another email asking for the name and phone number for an agent as his bank where the title is held so I can verify his ownership, plus his address and phone number in Franklin TN. Clearly, this is a scam artist. Probably located in Nigeria or something. How do you guys suggest I screw with him in order to best make his life miserable? ken qv Report post Posted January 6, 2006 How does he expect to scam money out of someone with this trick I wonder?
Tspringer Report post Posted January 6, 2006 How does he expect to scam money out ofsomeone with this trick I wonder? He will ask me to wire transfer a deposit for the car before he begins the process of having it shipped back to the states from Europe.... Of course once I send the $2500 or whatever, he will vanish. Or some variation of the above. A common scam. Terry

Peter K Report post Posted January 6, 2006 When the hell are these guys going to learn?!?! These guys use the same scam for years...almost exact wording. I emailed a few to tell them the scam is old and the Lamborghini communtity is very small, it's useless to use a Lambo in the scam. One dude had the balls to email back "thank you for info" You can't really screw them. The best to do is tell them you'll do one better and fly out there to hand them cash.....and see the car. There is a sport practiced by a few along the lines of scaming-the-scammers. http://www.419eater.com/ Its a riot!

taz5 Report post Posted January 11, 2006 Terry: Surprising enough I just received the same email from DChambers the other day selling Lm002. Would not give alot of information only saying car is in perfect condition, no scratches, 90k mileage and would use a third party for transaction. Get this DChambers would pay for overseas shipping, local transportaion warranty and 10 days to inspect vehicle at my location. It sounds to good to be true. When asked for additional information, which any smart person would ask, DChambers response, "I am to busy to provide that information." How stupid do people think we are!!!!!! Beware my friends.
