My G-Wagen gets an upgrade

Okay, the Mercedes G55 is one of the more pointless vehicles in existence; it's built like a tank, weighs 5500 pounds, has triple locking differentials yet comes with street tires, low-mounted side exhaust, beautiful paint and a supercharged 469 HP engine. :lol2: For most people, it's a love/hate vehicle and I love my 2005 Grand Edition G55; it's a big awesome box with great performance (if you're careful to not turn the steering wheel while on the gas) that embarrasses sports cars. Some video is at the end of the post for you lazy people.

So what do you do with such a stupid vehicle? You make it more ridiculous! :D Over the past two weeks I've had a mixture of Kleemann parts installed on mine, using some portions of their stage 3 and stage 4 packages. The work was done by Chris and crew at C2 Design in Tampa: http://www.c2dusa.com/ They do a lot of Kleemann work as well as tuning on exotics. I hope to have them do some exhaust work on my Gallardo in a couple months. They were very good to work with, kept me in the loop on everything, and I even left a digital camera with the truck and asked that they take pics for me as things came on and off so that I could put together a nice review of everything; came back with 150+ pics on it. I'm going to do some practice runs this weekend and then hit the drag strip in the next two weeks to get some real times out of it.

On that note, here's what I had done:

1) Smaller crankshaft pulley to increase supercharger's rpm's which creates higher boost (new pulley doesn't actually go on the supercharger, pic is just of the supercharger itself for reference)

2) K&N air filters

3) Kleemann headers (pic with Kleemann vs OEM)

4) Lighter weight Kleemann down pipes (going from headers to mufflers & cats)

Heavy OEM

Light Kleemann

5) High volume water pump for increased cooling (pic with small OEM unit)

6) Lower temp thermostat to keep the engine at normal temp after the upgrades.

7) Larger throttle body

8) New engine computer programming from Kleemann

Theoretically, I should now be making somewhere upwards of 600 HP; there's no four-wheel dyno in Tampa rated above 450 HP though so we'll just have to guess at HP based on what I end up with at the drag strip. It is definitely faster going by the seat of the pants measurement, it really jumps now when you mash on the throttle and the engine sound is incredible; I love the supercharger whine you get from the increased boost.

Last but not least, here's some casual acceleration video, keep in mind the daytime video got started coming out of a corner so I was not on it hard. It does about a 5 second 0-60 and should be able to hit the high 12's in the quarter mile:

Any plans for the other G?

My only complaint is that the G55 could really use a sixth gear (3500 rpm in 5th at highway speeds) but the tranny on it is bullet proof so guess I'll deal.

I'd like to get the SP exhaust and Gruppe M on the spyder, ideally in a couple months when I'm ready maybe SP will sell it as a kit so I can it installed locally since I don't want to truck the car cross country. I don't think I'm going to do anything too crazy with that car.

Awesome! That'll be alot of fun at lights and stop signs... Post some videos when you start messing with people!

LOL, I've been messing with people non-stop since I got it back, it will pretty much pull on most cars I run into outside of a Plastic mess-06 but most will try me because they figure how could they get beat by a big SUV. :lol2: Just don't try to turn the wheel, corners are the enemy. :)
