Mike_S Report post Posted November 22, 2010 My radio has been giving me problems with ejecting CD's. Where can I get another radio which will bolt in? Dealer quoted me $10,000 for a new radio and I chuckled. This is what my current factory one looks like. Apparently they changed the units for 2008 for another model. Mike_S Report post Posted November 26, 2010 Thanks guys, I'll have a look and just double check on here so I don't purchase the wrong one accidentally. Edit: On the post above, will that unit "plug and play"? I don't want to have to splice and solder wires.
BLACKBULL Report post Posted November 26, 2010 Are you looking to DIY or have shop do the work???? 99% confident in saying the unit is a straight plug & play. At most you might need a harness adapter if that is even required.
EURO_C Report post Posted November 26, 2010 Are you looking to DIY or have shop do the work???? 99% confident in saying the unit is a straight plug & play. At most you might need a harness adapter if that is even required. Just be careful not to scratch the leather and carbon console. You can use the provided radio keys on the new unit to remove the old unit. The old one can be repaired and keep it as a spare or sell it. Infamous Report post Posted November 26, 2010 You will need to rewire for the new models. Shouldnt be much of an issue though..
Mike_S Report post Posted November 27, 2010 Thanks for feedback guys! I was planning to DIY if it's just plug and play. I have done a few of these on the older cars myself and it's quite simple. I wouldn't want to splice any wires though, not in this car. A harness would be the best solution. Are there any audio shops in the USA you guys know of that supply such a thing?
