Glenn Weir Report post Posted July 5, 2011 I am going to replace all the brake calipers on my 74 Urraco as the stopping sucks and I have leaks that are causing problems. I totally rebuilt the stock calipers 5 years ago and recal Joe Frazer offering the 630 BMW calipers as a match to replace the stock ones. SOOOO..what is the exact year and make that I need to get for rears and for fronts???
P400Miura Report post Posted July 6, 2011 For the front my information says BMW M1 BMW 630 76 to 79 BMW M5 85 to 87 BMW M6 85 to 89 etc. For the rear BMW 735 79 to 81 Volvo C70 2.3 Turbo T5 97 to 05 etc Note these cars have the same brake pads, I assume the calipers are also the same. Cheers Jim
Peter K Report post Posted July 6, 2011 Yes, that info is correct. I replaced pads with EBC reds at all 4 corners. Rebuild is another option again. Whitehorse and Karp resleeving http://www.resleeve.com/sleeving.htm For a real difference, send out the boosters and master/slave. Kerplop Report post Posted July 7, 2011 Leaking is no bueno. I wouldn't drive it until it's fixed if it's leaking at all. Brakes are the most important thing on your car. If you end up deciding to rebuild them: If you're also looking for a place that will treat them to prevent rust, PMB deals specifically with older cars and hard to find stuff. I've seen their rebuilds a while ago when I was visiting a local shop on an old 2.7RS. http://www.pmbperformance.com/calipers.html I ended up in a bind when my 914 caliper needed rebuilt since it cracked. I got one from these guys and the quality was out of this world! They do a zinc re-plate and can re-sleeve things as well. Really good stuff. They list specific cars, but if you give them a call I'm sure they can find what you need. Out of this world quality, they end up looking like something that would look new from the factory, just fantastic. Keep the oldies rollin'!
