Tommy Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Damn it! We need a cool, secure and easy-to-access chat room! The one JimmyJ created (http://www.chatzy.com/924964164566) is totally insecure, everybody could use everybody's nickname and talking bullshit! The one on the bottom of the homepage is secure but pretty gay. And no, the chatroom will not kill the forum, some are using it for monthes now, and are still there! It's just a different way to say differents things

NuclearJACK Report post Posted June 1, 2005 I think I mentioned it before but msn group rooms have a decent chat option. You have to register for the group in order to chat. the moderator can then host the room giving them the option to remove chatters and ban them from the group if needed aswell it has a nicer layout then chatzy. if there is concern that the msn group will take over. it would be easy enough for the mods to remove any messages posted in there. (groups have thier own forum section) The key to a great new chat would be to have the mods pick one and make it a sticky as you dont want people chatting all over the place. Tommy Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Problem of MSN chat group, you need to install an ActivX thing, boring... Mirc is another option, but you need a Mirc client and do some command to join the good channel. The best of the best would be to have a private mirc server (like irc.lambo-power.com)
PeterKrieg Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Yeah, both chats are crap. We need a simple, java based chat that: - would allow only for LP members to log on, every member that wish to use the chat would get a pm with key code working with his nickname - showing unceasingly who's online, even if you're not active for longer time - has an option of banning someone from the chat by a LP moderator - not connected with LP forum like the current one, because it doesn't mark new messages that were posted when you're on the chat - doesn't have a private talk option, this would kill the conversation on main screen - allows writing longer messages, and doesn't erase all of them after a few minutes

FLYINRYAN Report post Posted June 2, 2005 Tommy - that real chat looks cool. Who is going to fund the $495 for it? :| Ryan
Tommy Report post Posted June 2, 2005 We can use the evalutation copy ... look at the features in the demo version, that's enough
NuclearJACK Report post Posted June 2, 2005 NO annual fees: All prices include a one-time chat server license fee. Unlike other chat vendors, we won’t charge any annual, per-user, or maintenance fees. come on big spenders its a one time fee
Travis Report post Posted June 2, 2005 per Tommy & the free eva. version - The free evaluation version is limited to 1 room and 30 simultaneous users. The administrative manager functions are not available in the evaluation version. All other features work the same as they do in the full version. from what little I've seen of the chats - that would be enuff - ~T~
