kinnsella Report post Posted July 2, 2015 So we purchased a farm last year, short sale with a LOT of deferred maintenance. We purchased the most coverage available through First American and they came out probably 35 times to fix all manner of issues. AC, appliances, central vac, lots of minor electrical, a burst pipe, water pressure regulators and pumps, pool equipment etc. Naturally now they will not renew us. We haven't had any issues in the last 120 days as we have buttoned everything up, remodeled and upgraded the house, but I would like to continue with coverage. Any recommendations? kinnsella Report post Posted July 2, 2015 35 times that's quite extreme, good luck with finding another insurance company. 10 of those were for redo's of repairs done by their contractors.... There are options. We are looking at the following. None seen concerned about previous claims and I expect this year to be almost zero. Fidelity Home Warranty Old Republic Home Warranty American Home Shield Anybody have any experience with any of these companies? SYNYSTR Report post Posted July 2, 2015 I have been with this company for over 3 years. http://www.hwahomewarranty.com/ I have only filed 3 small claims with them. The one thing that stood out was when my water heater started leaking. I didn't want to wait so I ran down to Home Depot and replaced it myself. Although it states in the contract I needed to go through their vendors, I received full reimbursement. I was even reimbursed for the solder, coppper tube, and overflow pan. Obviously I was not reimbursed on my own labor, but it was a better choice than dealing with water damage and mold. Would recommend.
