  1. According to bugatti, 2 of the 30 supersports (that have been locked down with the $450,000 deposit) are going to US-based customers. So its not many. I met one of those future owners, he has 3 veyrons already. Ah, US is becoming the 3rd world country lol
  2. yes, exactly (actually 227mph) but it helps reduce drag if youre doing times over 150mph. The handling mode spoiler will actually drag the car down significantly after those speeds.
  3. Problem is every time they do tests with the veyron they don't do the launch control, and it always seems to be someone who has never driven the veyron before. I bet the owner of the car could've done better. Put it in top speed mode as well, will reduce drag at the 200+ kph speeds thus reducing the times at that point. Somebody really screwed up with the LF-A, no way its numbers are like that.
  4. acceleration in the veyron = the feel you get accelerating in a jet plane acceleration in the supersports = the feel you get accelerating in a jet plane + the hand of god pushing you from behind. The 0-60 is the same, but it continues to pull harder and faster the faster you go. I actually started feeling the tug on my face like the acceleration curve increases the faster you go. The spoiler comes up at 137mph in a normal veyron, but in the supersports it comes up at 115mph -- because it gets to 140 that much faster. Handling is improved as well, more responsive, and feels 'ligher'. In fact the whole suspension/esp system is upgraded. Brakes have improved cooling, but they aren't 'bigger' as some people were saying. The car drives about 1/2 inch lower than the veyron as well. oh yes, btw this car is the 'prototype', so the interior wasn't completely finished, and the supersports will come with a button to 'raise' the car to normal veyron height like a murcielago has for the front. The test driver Pierre was nervous about the test drive because it was so impromptu -- I didn't fill out any waivers, and so an accident would suck for them. Anyways, the car was returned in one piece, and I really want one.
  5. I haven't even considered the color combo right now, I've got 6 months to choose. The price is 1.95 mil euros if you want that exposed carbon fiber, but its 300,000 euros less if you pick a normal paint job. So I'll be sticking to the normal. Two deposits of $450,000 -- one on signing the contract, the other about 6 months before production. If I get mine, its going to be late 2011 before I recieve it.
  6. I just hope it isn't another murcie clone, for now it looks like the murci with 20 inch wheels and a hint of reventon.
  7. I ended up being lucky enough to be the first customer to do a test drive on it. It ended up happening because I told them I couldn't make it for their official test drive event in France early September. Depending on what I can get 'trade in' for my Bugatti, I will be purchasing one. Minor video: ps. you'll see my bugatti in the foreground -- I ended up shipping it to Pebble Beach and driving it there.
  8. They need another LP-XXX-X to carry them thru 2012 when the world ends hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  9. 1/4 = [email protected] I need to take my Veryon to the drag strip (SCC_JOE: Good time now with this weather/temperature) My car now has 5000miles -- well broken in -- and new tires. I hope to do the 1/4 at 9.9@145. I saw a Japanese show that had their Veyron at 9.9
  10. man, those are some gorgeous pics
  11. The weakness is that the sheer mass of the car will overheat the brakes after 2-3 laps on a larger track -- so you need cooldown time. It can destroy a track for a lap or two, its just that it can't do it continuously with that amount of power and mass involved without the cooldown laps. Did some beastly driving at 7am on friday morning...
  12. The brakes are better than anything I've ever experienced, especially with the airbrake kicking in. Compared to the SLR's carbon ceramics, or my LP640's carbon ceramics, this thing takes it to 0 a lot quicker. But I think its the stability of the braking itself that is most impressive. Just let go of the steering wheel on the SLR at 140 and brake, expect to die... with the Veyron, it does it in a straight line and with no loss of control.
  13. Take note the hole in the grille -- its where the tow cable gets connected. It means that its been towed before, for one reason or another.
  14. Finally got to look at those photos freakzilla posted on the initiation of this thread. Its my speculation only of course, but it looks to me that its an owner tweaking with his car. Those don't look like any bugatti employees I know of. Its either diagnostic tools you see exposed there, or they are doing their own aftermarket modification. Of course, it would void the warranty... But I do know there is a young fellow (who looks a lot like the tank top kid in the car) -- an 18 year old whose father is a uber-wealthy fellow in Russia. Supposedly was the youngest person to own a Veyron out of the factory (should be 20 by now). In their case, a Veyron is chump change, and they wouldn't be as intent of keeping warranty.
  15. Lastly: All my personal speed measurements were determined with the PDA that comes with every bugatti, giving you a number down to two decimal points of what your speed was (in graph form over a trip, or a top speed calculation). How accurate would this info be vs. a GPS verified speed calculation? Pretty close I would think, compared to the huge offset on most cars like Lambo, Mercedes etc.. How do I come up with that? On the Ehra Lessien speed runs, I saw approx. 252-253mph as my speed determination given by the car, and the GPS verification that the engineers gave me after the run was 253.2. So I would believe the bugatti to be a precision instrument in that the error variance of what it says it went at to be +/- 1 mph.
  16. fun credentials of the day: I was the first customer to do the Feel The Road program (also the client who pushed for its implementation) I'm one of only 10 clients who has done the 400 drive (doing the top speed run on the Ehra Lessien) -- but ended up doing it not once, but 3 times lol. *** I need to post the pdf file of my engine rpm graph and speed graph v/time for the Ehra Lessien run -- its on one of my computers, need to find it.
  17. fun fact of the day: The car was governed to 253.2 mph not because of the tires as its widely said -- when the car was originally designed -- the idea was to have at least 1000hp, and at least 400km/h. It was hell getting there, but when they finally achieved the 400km/h mark, they were able to successfully surpass it by a substantial amount. In the end, an abritrary decision was made to govern it at 407km/h, believe it or not, 'just because'. Also they wanted to make sure that every Veyron that comes out of the factory can achieve this, since every Veyron has some variance. I posed this question to the chief engineer while at the 400 drive event, and that was the answer he gave me (for I believed it was the tires too). Pierre-Henri Raphanel, a test driver for the car has gone over 256 mph with the stock Veyron (having the governor turned off) on the Ehra Lessien straightaway.
  18. once again I have to come back to this board to answer to a keyboard warrior. what is the point... I'm not even supposed to talk about this. Just assume it is a stock veryon, works for me. but I gotta say, why would I need to lie regards to anything about this car... I think it is sufficient to say its awesome as is. freakzilla aka keyboard warrior of this message board -- a lot of your facts about tires, speeds, governors etc.. on this car are off.
  19. For me a the day after the incident was a nightmare -- as so many random people called me and bombarded me with emails either to 'inform' me of this bugatti accident, or thinking it was my car. Wishful thinking on many peoples' part for sure.
  20. Replace the Tires, yes. Every 6-7000 miles. They're soft composites, and will run out faster than normal run-flats. I had mine replaced at 4500 miles because of so much track time and high speed runs.
  21. The wheels are identical, there isn't any difference in size, weight, balance or performance. Same goes for the tires.
  22. wtf it almost looks like my veyron with that color combo. btw: "That Bugatti Veyron was one of only 200 made and one of only about 15 in the United States, the AP reported." AP is way off, its more like 60
  23. When it comes to looks, there is no comparison. SLR is the hands down winner.
