  1. The consensus is goo-gone. It worked well for me.
  2. I have yet to see one with buttons that didn't just need the top layer of goop removed. Lots of threads about that. What do you mean by worn out?
  3. That's beyond my high levels of OCD, so no.
  4. It was a great suggestion of yours! In this head on photo, it really looks like the circle part blends in with the airbag in a factory looking way, and the shield pops nicely.
  5. You'll love it. I did the add on mirror thing for years with my other exotics (with similarly bad blindspots), and I only wish I had known and tried this mirror adjustment method sooner.
  6. Yes, that is possible. Still working on prototypes and gauging interest in the emblems before putting anything together to sell them.
  7. Brass shavings and that roll pin are bigger problems than a transmission fluid change can fix. Brass is from the synchros. The roll pin could be something to do with the shift forks. You are on the right path to open the transmission to inspect, the sooner the better since parts are so expensive. Did you take out the screen filter in the front of the transmission? Were you having to force it into gear in the past? I have read several Diablo threads of people breaking their shifter from forcing the gear change, and Lambo had to make the shifter stronger in the Murci. Maybe making it stronger was a bad idea because instead of the shifter breaking, maybe something will break inside the transmission instead. When I drained my fluid and pulled the screen, there were no shavings at all, so that is not normal.
  8. Please report back on that. It would be a great benefit to the entire Murci community if someone could come up with a way to remove the transmission like most every other car without have to move the engine. However, I think you will find the bigger problem is being able to move the transmission forward far enough to clear the studs and the spline shaft. If you have a fabricator, I am thinking the only solution there is to make the tunnel side panels removable. I don't think those side panels are structural, and if so, it's just a fab thing. The transmission is basically wedged in there with no room to move forward as I see it. Good luck! BTW, do you have any answers to those questions I posted? It will give an idea of the source of the problem.
  9. Here's the prototype. It's not perfect, but it gives the idea of the matte around the gloss shield.
  10. If you think those add on mirrors are the best thing since sliced bread, you should try using your mirrors correctly! You'll be blown away when you see a full picture of what's around you and get rid of the blind spot. Those silly fish eye/blind spot mirrors are terrible compared to using your mirrors right.
  11. I think I can work something out to try that.
  12. Prince came up with the great idea to try a matte finish on the emblem to blend better with the interior, so here's a comparison. Which is better, gloss or matte?
  13. It needs to be a circle because there's a bull embossed on the wheel and that will stick out of the sides of the shield and look bad. You could look at use some kind of gold metal looking paint to fill in the embossed area to make the bull show. That was another idea I was going to try, but I like the stick on emblem because it can easily be removed later and that's how most cars have the steering wheel emblem.
  14. Oh, I see, you keep saying "latch" when you really mean "hatch." Yea, I have no idea how to move the whole thing over because mine is ok and I have never needed to mess with it. You can see if there's play by loosening the screws you pointed out, but if not, check and see if there are any shims in the hinge where it attaches to the body. Lambo clearly loved shims when they built this chassis.
  15. I am getting another batch made with the logo closer to the edge of the circle (2mm from edge instead of 4mm), and the circle slightly larger to fit just a little better. If that looks good, I'll order a bunch. But I can already sleep better at night just having the prototype on there instead of the generic grab-any-steering-wheel-off-the-shelf-look of the stock wheel... And I just ordered the DCTMS steering wheel. I went ahead with the Alcantara grips for that contrast. I decided it doesn't really need a match in the cabin, but if nothing else, the floor mats provide that furry compliment. DCTMS said it will be here in time for the Lakewood Concours in Kemah. The new emblems will be here by then as well. They take about 3 weeks after every change.
  16. I guess I better add it to the preventative maintenance list... That's pretty sad for it to fail so quickly.
  17. What year is your car? And how old was it when the hose went? It sounds like it didn't last very long...
  18. Since you went there, that does make me feel better about how I feel about your wing
  19. The gas struts that hold up the hood? There aren't any struts holding up the latch. The latch is on a platform that is attached to the decklid. See that platform in this pic. To take off the gas struts holding the hood up, you need to wedge a small flat screwdriver into the clips on each end and pull those clips most or all of the way off, then the struts will release easily from their ball joints.
  20. You should center the latch itself, not the hood hinges. The latch has 2 10mm bolts to loosen the latch, and then you can shift it left to right. You have to take off the grate with 8 screws to get to it. When you put the hood down, you can visually see if the latch is in the right place just before you put the hood all the way down. I have done these adjustments what seems like a 1000 times now since I have been trying different exhaust set ups. You can use washers under the latch for height adjustments, and you can also raise the rear deck lid a little bit when bolting it down to get it at the right height. And you can use washers behind the bracket on the deck lid to move it backward. In the end, my best set up is 1 washer under the hood latch, one thick washer on each side of the engine compartment deck lid latches to move it back a bit, and tightening the deck lid while holding it up about 1-2mm. With that setup, everything lines up beautifully.
  21. Here's the wheel with perforated leather.
  22. Sounds like it's #21 on this diagram. It's around $45.
  23. You are correct, no other carbon or Alcantara, and I am probably won't add any to the rest of the interior beyond the steering wheel. My idea was to have the Alcantara on a part that I don't touch often because from what I have seen of other cars, the Alcantara looks pretty ratty from being the oils and crushing effect of hands. If I was to add perforated leather, it would be the same as adding Alcantara because there won't be any other perforated leather in the car. But I would still like something to add more textures to the wheel without going over the top and needing to upgrade the entire interior. So I will sleep on the Alcantara idea. But big thanks for giving me more to think about. On the emblem in the airbag steering wheel, good news, it doesn't open through that circle. The circle stays intact, so there's no way an emblem is going to interfere at all with the opening of the aribag. The stablemate for my Murci is an Esprit, and it has basically the same airbag with a different surround. Not so coincidentally, the circle in the middle of both airbags is exactly the same diameter on both the Esprit and the Murci. You can see from the pic of post airbag deployment that the circle with the logo stays intact. In the case of the Esprit, it's a metal emblem that clings to the airbag with a few little tabs that are bent over. These types of emblems are very easy to remove. I know because I replaced one of them on another car. If instead of using tabs, you use a strong double-sided adhesive, it would probably hold better than these tabs, and the tabs doing a pretty good job. The emblem I am sourcing is a soft gel, not a ridged metal. So it doesn't pose the risk of a sharp piece of tin. Plus, if it did come off, it would swing up and away hitting the ceiling since that's how the flap is moving when the airbag is deployed. Here's teaser of my first prototype for the emblem. More tweaks are to be made, and it's a slow process, but you get a good idea from this pic.
  24. LOL, check out 1:40 on this video: Just because you've been driving for 40 or 50 years with your mirrors adjusted the wrong way doesn't mean there isn't time to make a change. Can you imagine if he had taken out 2 Lambos on YouTube? He would have been the most famous Murci Roadster driver on the whole interweb 4ever!
  25. Cool. It is peculiar to me that with all the emphasis on making cars safer by the government, and the insurance companies wanting to reduce their payouts, and people tired of being stuck in freeway traffic because of these lane change accidents that happen just before everyone gets out of work (which are a very high number of accidents per year from an article I read), that there isn't more effort to spread the word about a technique endorsed by the SAE.
