  1. Yes, it is quite possible. Not common in a street car, but very possible. The cost to build the motor was more than $40,000. This is an 8.0 liter engine, stroked to a 522, which is 8.5 liters. Where I live you will find many 700+ hp cars, many of which are 70's muscle. A man who lives less than a half mile from me has a 900+ horsepower 76 Malibu, which is street driven at least once a week during warm weather. You obviously dont know cars well enough if you say its not possible. And yes, as I said before and aedmon said, its an ex race car. The owner installed all facotry interior when he was done racing it, and now its his street car.
  2. Yesterday I was given a ride in an 850 whp Viper, and it was amazing! Ive been in or driven almost every worthwhile sportscar and exotic, and this was by far the most intense! The Viper is owned by Tom Archer's(who lives an hour from me, and is one of the best drivers in the world) racing/business parter, who at one time used the car as his personal race car, but put the interior back in and uses it as his street car. The awesome thing is it was all motor! I didnt quite catch whether it was stroked or not, but it had alot done. At 20 mph in second, we had serious wheel hop when he got on it, so you can imagine the 40-160 acceleration which I experienced(with the windows down!). Hopefully I will have my videocamera next time!
  3. they have a single dealer here in the US so you would go through them and arrange shipping Hmm, so you have one on order and you didn't know that they are being manufactured in Oregon? e55 ordered the car, not phx Isn't that who I replied to? I have seen the debates on the Atom board about the difference between the types of welding done in the US and the ones built in the UK. The Atom is manufactured in the same way that it is in the UK as far as welding goes. The chassis is MIG(metal inert gas aka wire feed) and TIG(tungsten inert gas). I prefer TIG welding because its much easier to see what I am working with, and I dont have any spatter, the welds are always much cleaner and easier to work with. MIG produced spatter, is more difficult to see the work, and beginners can make the mistake of having a clean weld, but it wont stand up in testing, because the weld did not penetrate the base metal. TIG is always preferred by people who do custom work, like myself, because its much easier to be sure the weld will hold up, they look far better and have no spatter, but the downside is that TIG welding takes much longer than MIG. Anyone who is a skilled welder can have MIG welds that are just as good as TIG as far as strength goes, but spatter will always occur with MIG, so they will always require cleanup around the weld area, unless aesthetics dont matter. I may become a US distributor for the Atom, and if it requires that my company manufactures them as well, everything will be TIG welded. Customers will also have color options for chassis powder coating, as well as color choices for the body panels.
  4. I was at D&M awhile back actually. Just after I left Fox Valley Motorcars actually, which is just up the street They had a 91 Diablo with 12k miles, and it was in better shape than many 6.0's Ive seen around. FVMC Had a 6.0 actually, and it was in terrible shape, missing a shift knob, carbon fiber trim was all scuffed up, and if I remember correctly it had paint repair. Looked like hell.
  5. So what do you think of the suspension settings? You can have it stiff, or unnecessarily stiff! Great car though, very well put together, interior is great. Only thing I didnt care for was the handling, it felt a bit weighty(although it is a heavy car). But congrats on the purchase!
  6. I think I might need to keep an eye on that car! What Ive been wanting for such a long time is a car like that. Something heavily race inspired, very small and overly aggresive looking. I just need to make sure to place and order as soon as I can!
  7. The Union Jack flag is designed so it cannot be upside down. You could rotate it 90 degrees and it would be incorrect, but you flip it 180 and its still the same. Useless information, but I had to make the correction. Im strongly considering buying a couple of Atoms, in different powertrains for demo purposes for sale. Im in Northwest Wisconsin, so Im much closer than Oregon for many people, if anyone would like to take a test drive before being locked into buying it and hating the car in the end(which is unlikely). Im also considering assembling Nobles and Ultimas. We can build a much higher performance versions, due to my knowledge of turbocharging, and I have 2 friends who build custom turbo manifolds/full kits, so we can create anything from mild to insane. We are also considering building Elise and Atom turbo kits, due to the knowledge we have of building turbo kits for Hondas. Yes, the Elise is a Toyota engine, but I have a friend with one who Im sure would be willing to let us use it for test purposes, because he drives his V8 twin turbo much more often. So if anyone has interest in one of these cars, feel free to PM or Email me to get more information.
  8. VCR, I would put a call into Motorex and see what they can do. If you want a Skyline, you need to pay them $500 to start looking for one(go towards the price of the car when you buy it) and half of the final price is payed when they get one you want. To meet DOT and EPA regulations, it will take about 3 months. For the most part, you are looking at around $80-95k for a very new R34 GTR. Skylines are difficult to get here, as are many other cars that are now for "show and display" because they need to be bought through a legalized importer(to become one takes alot of time and work) but if you can wait, then you wont have too much trouble, as the importer does all the work for you. I know of 3 people who own Skylines, one being a friends father, a kid who lives outside of Minneapolis, and the owner of Top Speed Chicago. And as for getting a Z-Tune, I dont think you will ever get one, because they were spoken for long before they started building them. Yes, the styling isnt the newest, but it they certainly look good as is. As for the history/previous owner questions, the cars brought here by Motorex are all from dealerships, and not private owners, so they are checked from top to bottom in Japan, as well as when they arrive in CA. A Skyline is also a good choice for a tuner car, if not the best money can buy. They have nearly limitless potential and reliability, and if you dont believe me, ask Mark or Alex, they will certainly attest to it. And if you were to ever have any problems, they would be the first I would recommend you to see. My thought is that you call Motorex, ask for Hiro, and he will explain everything you could need or want to know about getting a Skyline, and Im very sure he could arrange to get it into Canada.
  9. The hood on a standard H2 opens that way(I know, I have 2 hummers) but that Hummer is changed, and the hood opens conventionally. The hood and grill are one piece, but on the H2/Escalade, the hood, fenders, and grille are all seperate pieces. It does however retain the side hood latches found on an H2.
  10. very nice  its nice to see a modified Lotus, seems to be pretty rare
  11. 911 GT1 would just be a blast, but would be for shit on the street, and thats where I like to do my driving. So my other pick is the CGT for sure
  12. Phantom is just awesome style, looks better than the Maybach, but you can have many more features in the Maybach. I would still have either one
  13. Just a Hummer with the Escalade conversion kit, pretty simple to do really. Looks great too!
  14. The Gallardo was a new design... the Avus had nothing to do with it. Even Audi wouldnt use a 13 year old concept to start with a production car. No engine similarities either( 5.0 V10 and a 6.0 W12 )
  15. Mamba=hotness  I thought about one for myself, in white of course
  16. Actually that Enzo wasnt repainted. The color from the sun and the beach makes it look a little different. Besides, how many people would pay at least 15k(yes, this is what I do for a living) to repaint an enzo if it didnt need it? when you can order any color from the factory.
  17. I like the 430 and everything, and the gallardo... but I prefer the 360 CS over both, the sound, the look, everything. but between the 430 and the gallardo, its a toss up... 500hp is good, awd is fun, but rwd is far more fun, and I like the 430s interior, and if its close enough to a 360 inside, I would fit better than in the gallardo! I guess its a toss up, I might consider the 430 more :partyman:
  18. What the hell? Makes you wonder about some people, really... but I think I need one for my shop!!
