I'm with you. Make up your mind but buying a car and changing out the seats for aftermarket ones is crazy.

Fortis, we are the same height and weight. I sat in the sports seats in Frankfurt - loved the look but couldn't believe how hard they were. Tried them again in the dealer a couple of weeks ago and didn't mind them. Bottom line - each choice has its pros and cons. I'm getting electric seats on my Coupe (car on showroom so no choice) and have ordered the Roadster with sports seats.

Fortis, stop beating yourself up about the gearbox. It's only one aspect of the car.

No, only sniffing around at this stage. I got interested in Lambos again after this year's trip to Alice Springs. I don't need another car but you never know.

I avoid new jeans and take a worrying interest in any passenger's nether garments. Assuming there are no obvious marks, I Lexol once every couple of months. Looks as good as new. Disclaimer: I'm talking off white/very pale grey.

Congrats Fortis. What options did you finally go for?

On the issue of year 1 problems, I had an 04 Gallardo which blew its engine so I got an 06 SE which blew its e-gear. My LP640 was very reliable though. I've had a 458 for 18 months (27,000km) and it hasn't visited the dealer once for warranty. Not all first year cars are bad.

Shame about that gear change - that's SLOW to anyone with a double clutch.

That's the same point I got to. I've had 2 G's and an LP640 and there was nothing new to go to. The Murci replacement will be too much money and probably too much car for me. The 458 suddenly looks good value with SV performance and new tech.

Is anyone really surprised that the 458 has gone straight to the top of the class? Lamborghini right now has no answers - the brand is at a low point with a low-tech Gallardo now overdue for replacement and the "excitement" of the Estoque to look forward to. Thank god the Jota is nearly here.

I had an E60 M5 with SMG and hated the gearbox. People would tell me it shifted fast in S6 but that's crap - you needed to be at 8,000rpm to get a decent shift speed. In Auto mode it was hopeless. It ruined an otherwise basically good car.

I agree. I had titanium on my Gallardo SE and they looked great. I've seen the same wheels in black and they look very ordinary.

I gave them a $10K deposit 3 years ago - and ordered a Fiat 500 from them too, just to be safe.

Call me crazy but I wouldn't buy a red Lambo and I wouldn't buy a yellow Ferrari. Well, a pearl yellow 458 would look pretty good, but after two pearl painted cars, it'll be nice to relax for a bit. That triple coat needs too much care for someone who likes to drive!

On Friday I sold my LP640 after 2 years happy motoring. I bought the car at 10 months old so my depreciation wasn't too bad. I added 20,000km in 2 years so I got my money's worth. After 2 Gallardos, I enjoyed the Murci more. It seemed a better sorted car with nothing much to report at service time (the G's always had plenty of small stuff for rectification). I ordered the 458 in '07 before the name of the car was known. I haven't had a Ferrari before. I was expecting to have to wait till 2011 but the dealer called a few weeks ago and said he could do me a September build. I'm still interested in Lambos and I'm keen to see what the new V12 looks like. How do I get "Lambo owner" taken off my profile?
