  1. You could, of course, import an 82 ore 83 Jalpa. You might even be able to import an 84 model-year if its build sheet reflects it was built in 1983. I'd call DOT prior to shipping, though. EPA restrictions end for cars 21 years or older... I think the bigger problems would be getting a PPI, filing the appropriate paperwork and shipping the car. If you have a trusted friend or agent overseas it would be no sweat. Otherwise, it may be a little hard to arrive at an appropriate level of trust without getting an ulcer. Let me know if you decide to ship and have any questions. I've been through this and may be able to help. Jeff
  2. Daniel -- D96 is a standardized shape and size that does not necessarily correspond with a pad manufacturer's part number. If you search for them by this number instead of by car/caliper, you'll have some very quickly. Jeff
  3. Baron, just in case I've confused it, the back pads are certainly D96, and they are very easy to come by. I don't want to say conclusively the rear calipers are from the 2002Tii, although they might be. I just remember them as near the end of my cross-referencing to find the right pads. Jeff
  4. These sound like the same calipers for the Jalpa. They're an ASE caliper that were used on the early 70's BMW 2002 Tii models... If it's the same caliper on the Urraco, the D96 pad-shape fits the caliper, but it comes in two pad depths, and only the thinner ones will fit around the rotor. Jeff
  5. Congrats on the new car, Michael! A guy near me owns a cherry-looking one, and I have to admit I see green every time he drives by. I can't wait to see your finished car! Not sure if block porosity is important to you, but awhile ago I saw a thread on a product for "sealing" aluminum blocks. I think it was Loctite 990, and as I recall, the folks who used it were extremely pleased with the results. I'm not sure how it would work with the No-Rosion, or even if you could if you wanted to. With some care I guess you could seal it, then use the NoRosion on areas of connection with dissimilar metals? Just a thought, but I'd be interested to hear your take since you're the one doing all the restoration/upgrading. Cheers, Jeff
  6. QUOTE(jalpa95 @ Jul 12 2007, 03:53 AM) The things you just Here's some math from Reimann: R(3)(x, t) =δ(1)(t −√x2+y2+z2c) / 4πc2 sqrt x2 + y2 + z2 Like that? It's an interesting equation for non-linear wave functions in three dimensions -- or at least most of one, I don't have the symbols available to make it whole. For my next trick I'll pull a 72 Miura SV out of my fourth point of contact
  7. The things you just listed are facts indeed, beachbummed, but they don't correlate at all with what I conveyed as having been my concern. Nature of the call and the context of your posting.... In any event, you're absolutely right that I should have PM'd you first -- I'm sorry I didn't. Jeff Here's some math from Reimann: R(3)(x, t) =δ(1)(t −√x2+y2+z2c) / 4πc2 sqrt x2 + y2 + z2
  8. Topcarbon -- There's always room for interpretation, which is why I said "suspect," and left it at that. The issue concerns the nature of a phone call to me and the context of a subsequent posting. In any event, it's nothing that important in the grand scheme of things, and I should likely have not aired it publicly. Sorry for that, I just got a bit chapped...
  9. Mike -- Raymond did recently sell his car, but to someone else. He helped me buy my Jalpa, and was kind enough to monitor the engine rebuild that was part of the purchase deal. During this time Raymond delivered the new motor mounts , and took the photos he posted on his site as a matter of interest for Jalpa owners. So, it's ELA 12095 (mine) you see under the "Broken Engine" heading on www.jalpa.ch.
  10. No sweat, Michael. I appreciate your perspective and clarification. I was only interested in avoiding any ambiguity about the work that HAS been done to my car for those who might be interested in it. The market for these cars is undoubtably uncertain, so I have absolutely no issue with your considerations. It's your hard-earned money! "Caveat emptor" in every case is an outstanding rule of thumb. I wish you the best of luck finding the car you want. Cheers, Jeff
  11. "but $30k is more than i want to pay for a jalpa that has not at least had a valve job by now." Sorry for the obvious miscommunication, Michael, but the valves were certainly done when the engine was rebuilt in Switzerland prior to my taking delivery of the car. (Check out the engine at Raymond's Jalpa.ch website, and look under broken engine.) Gearbox was rebuilt in Virginia after I brought it home to the US. It lost it's reverse locking pin (?) at the hands of Lambo Bruxelles (in Belgium) who decided to throu it into reverse at a significant forward speed. During the rebuild, all synchros were replaced except the one for 4/5 gears, as that was pristine. I don't want to get into a sales pitch on the board, but am happy to discuss in detail with anyone interested via PM. Cheers, Jeff
  12. Hey, Robert -- The choke cable connects right below the lever, and runs through the tunnel, up the firewall (inside the engine compartment) and to the junction linking it to the carb banks. The switch for the dash light should be accessible from the tunnel as well. It's easy to get to with the car lifted just remove the 20 or so bolts for the cover, then you'll see what you're looking for. As for the connections to the carbs, I used some thin-diameter rod cut to size (think a little thicker than a wire hanger). The parts manual doesn't seem to list what's needed for the choke linkages, and as for the choke cable, there are about 6 to eight parts for this and it's a bit of a pain in the ass -- you even have to thread the cable through the separate rubber sheath. I'd recommend saving a bunch of money and time and use quality bicycle brake cable ordered/cut to size. If you choose the factory way, you might want to check quickly as these parts may be on the list for discontinuing -- see please check with our franchised lamborghini dealer sponsors to be certain. This is at least how a Eurospec is connected, I doubt it's the same if you're afflicted by the US spec fugitive emissions boxes. Let me know if this helps.... By the way, where are you in Richmond? I'm about 45 minutes north in Stafford. Jeff
