  1. Correct. If you remove it, it should say 'OIL' stamped on the head of that bolt.
  2. I removed about 3 liters worth by taking off the pump pipe between the differential and tranny (just inside the rear wheel). I couldn't get that bolt out...aargh ! Perhaps you're low on fluid, but that's the amount I got out/in. After 3 liters, it started coming back out the overflow hole where I filled a little bit. I let it get to a fine drip and put the bolt back in.
  3. Mmm, they don't make them anymore, I know that. When I had my 88 QV, I was reminded to treat with care... I'm sure, if nobody here comes thru, maybe do some searching on the internet for auto grave yards. Somebody might know where exotics go to die - Sad I know. They do exist. If you check the site for wreckedexotics.com, you'll see a few. Unfortunately, they're pretty fragile actually. Basically Fiberglass and Aluminum. Good Luck !
  4. Well, I really suck at 'making' these wires. No way was I going to attempt it, so bought a Lambo set. You can get an MSD set with the long plug ends, but you're assembling them. I've worked on cars for 20 years and still suck at it ! Besides, the Lambo set has heat shielding for the wires - I liked that... Also, pulled the cap (was scored on all 8 connections) and rotor (electrode seemed wore and was craked). I'm sure you can get other OEM items, but I wanted genuine parts. Probably paid for it, but I know they'll work... Went to Evans Automotive (614) 471-7535. The owner, George, is an acquantance and has ALWAYS treated me right. Back when I had the Countach, and now with my Jalpa, he's been MORE than helpful. I believe he's certainly one of the most Exotic Car knowledgable folks around. They're the type of folks that if you're a customer, you're also a friend and am treated as such. He knows I'm in VA (they are in Ohio), so helps me out whenever I got an issue. PS: If you've got the Oil Cooler in the Rear Ear (I do), pull the cooler line that runs on the top of the firewall side cam cover... its A LOT easier.
  5. Got what I needed... Thanks folks !
  6. Hello, Well, think its that time. Pulled off the Coil Wire and the center electrode is pretty frayed - but still seems to run just fine. Cap/Rotor are fine. Plugs are recent. I've already upgraded to the MSD Blaster 2 Coil, so guess is the last step. Thinking about upgrading, just the Main Coil Wire to 8mm - any issues ? Where do I get a set of regular plug wires ? Is there any other, besides Jalpa wires, that'll fit ?
  7. Am using Lucas 80W/90. Synthetic's are better for gears, but non-syn is better for the shifting. I figure the tranny is pretty tight and the gearoil will work just fine (it has for 100 years so far).
  8. So... Eugene. Are you 'really' TOM ?
  9. "More than you can afford, pal" - is he talking about the car or his 'date' ?
  10. " I bet you get a free bowl of soup with a hat like that "
  11. Funny part is, its probably made by some unknown name. They buy it for $5/bottle, then resell for 10x that... Never understood this brand recognition with celebrities and manufacturers. For some reason, things sellout in just a day if 'seen' worn by anybody famous (including 1 month old babies). Who cares and Why >??? Does this happen Overseas from the USA >?
  12. Mmm, not a bad idea... If nobody can assure me that removing that plate is OK, that'll be what I attempt next.
  13. I wonder if removing it, would cause the fluid to drain out OR worse, that pin to drop and not be able to put back in? Can't tell by the picture on his site. Thanks for the link, I did have the PW already... Anybody removed this yet ? I'm not going to unless someone else has !
  14. What does that small metal plate cover ? I can't get that bolt out as I've already snapped my extension in half with the force I've pulled on it - am afraid I'll strip-out the threads... If that metal cover comes off, I'll just remove it ! What's it covering ? ...and a part# for the gasket would then assit me too.
  15. OK, it was supposed to be easy, but that's asking too much. Just felt like I'd do fluid changes... There's 2 bolts, side-by-side, underneath tranny. I assumed only one is to drain the fluid, but its not moving... at all. I didn't want to pull on the other bolt since not sure what its for. Bolt A is what I think should drain, but its rounded off - I used proper size '6' sided wrench (turning left) and no luck. Will bolt B work ? Not sure why they're both.
  16. One more thing - Where is your Oil Filter ? My oil cooler is rear of the car (that right ear)... The diagrams I'm finding on the VLG site, show the filter up front ??? I'm going to attempt an oil change (no issues, just time) AND a tranny / differential fluid changeout (any idea what works well in the tranny and diff - and are they the same resevoir or different). Has anyone done an oil change ? Seems we've got 2 systems the run and didn't want to starve the vehicle of oil. My radiator is up high, so don't think disconnecting any oil lines there will help. Just wondering if anyone, with the oil cooler in the back, has done it ?
  17. I believe the exhaust is the orginal Euro exhaust. I'm not sure as it came with the vehicle. It nice with two mufflers, a crossover between them, and duals (single each side). There are NO Converters. 1 bar = 14.5 psi My Redline is 7400. I checked the mounts and they appear fine, so doubt that's it. I didn't notice any tears of that nut/washer thru the mount. OK, FrankD... help me here on the 'adjustment ? How does a person perform this on a hydraulic clutch ??? Sounds like the next place to check. What type fluid does the tranny have ? Fans come on around the 50 mark, but think the temp guage is slow... I use the oil temp gauge anyway. Its a better indicator.
  18. From what I understand, they've got some rust issues. I remember hearing that some bound for the US, actually sat out during a strike. Read this; http://www.panteraplace.com/page57.htm
  19. Hello Fello Jalpa-ers; Finally got my 4 little intakes and my euro exhaust installed. The car appears to run well, but wanted a base-line from other folks out there to be sure. Not redlined it yet, but usually don't like to anyway... 1- When running it hard, is 2nd a little tough to get shifted into ? Every other time, its fine. Just when got some hard throttle and into the 5k+ range ? 2- What is your Oil Pressure at 3,000 ? Idle ? 3- Does the little yellow fan light appear while driving ? * mine does, but thought that was only for the manual switch.
  20. You'll find the folks here are pretty cool and definately entertaining ! - :supz:
  21. OK, I'll let ya know. I'm going to check locally first. Also, got a few other sites to check out... If I can't find anything I like, I'll let you know. Thanks again
  22. Chad, OK... understood now ! Thanks again for the advice...
  23. OK then Mr. Rocket Scientist- , tell me how I replace a small bulb in place of the actual headlight ? I have no place to mount this... I remove the sealed beam (crappy yellow light is NO upgrade) and there's a large hole there now. I'd have to buy the headlamp with the hole in the back of it... Its a Euro Version, not US. Here is the picture of my Sealed Beam.
