Smash Boy Report post Posted July 30, 2005 Curious to hear everyone's opinion on the Ferrari/Lamborghini shift gates....from their first few times driving them, to how they felt after totally getting used to them. One thing is for sure....as long as both companies offer a pure manual transmission with 3 pedals, this is the only way they'll come (which is good IMHO) It's funny to see the rags complain about them....can't take much seriously what they say. After driving a few of these cars, the shifting process becomes a pleasure in itself. I think the heaviness is the big thing to used to....arming it instead of wristing it. But I haven't driven anything newer than a mid '90s 512, and I hear that the 355 and newer cars are easy to shift. Would like to hear comparisons amongst the different Ferraris and Lamborghinis with the gate. I think the Countach and F40 have some heavy shifters... Mako Report post Posted July 30, 2005 I like the noise they make, it's addicting. I do not care for the insane reisistance that the older cars (80s) have, I'm not into arm wrestling....especially on a cold morning, jesus... :axe:
Placid Report post Posted September 10, 2005 Any more views on this? "All" magazines call the gated shifts an "Italian curse"... Exactly why are they gated anyway? :?:
