Stimpy Report post Posted January 20, 2018 Anyone see how it did? Yes, I saw it live. No sale at $340K. Not many cars made their catalog estimate last night. The Jag D Type sold at less than $10M when it was expected to be $12-15M. The catalog had this statement: "Importantly, the Murciélago has recently received its 15,000-mile major service at a cost of over $32,000, including new valve guides, a new battery, as well as a full fluid flush and new filters." I have always found that to be a really bad idea to spell out what was spent on maintenance. In this case, it sends the message that every 15,000 miles, the engine needs major work and you are going to be screwed out of the equivalent price of a brand new car for that maintenance. Why this car needed new valve guides at 15K miles is troubling.
JohnN Report post Posted January 20, 2018 They don't need guides as part of the 15k service. It is valve adjustments.
JohnN Report post Posted January 20, 2018 Either way, 340 plus buyers fee for a 15k mile roadster is keeping the values steady.
Stimpy Report post Posted January 20, 2018 They don't need guides as part of the 15k service. It is valve adjustments. So you're saying it costs $32K for valve adjustment, fluids change, and new battery? It wouldn't cost that much for a new clutch, valve adjustment, fluids change, and battery. For $32K, it must have had something go wrong at 13K miles.

JohnN Report post Posted January 21, 2018 Yes daddy. And RM went along with it misrepresenting the description. Maybe.
LamboNutter Report post Posted January 21, 2018 manual lp640 roadster, is epic. what was the reserve price, at which it would've sold? that is a ridiculous priced service ! I'm at 22k miles, and never had such a costly service.

I'm at 22k miles, and never had such a costly service. They don't list the reserve, but the catalog was something like $375 to $425, so that would lead me to believe it was close to the reserve. I was watching Barrett Jackson yesterday, and all the American cars were doing great, but the prices seemed soft for foreign stuff.
