BB6 Report post Posted April 7, 2016 Now that Michelin has discontinued 335 section tires in 18" sizes, is there an alternative to PZero Rosso/PZero Corsa for matching tires? The PZero matching sizes are 245/35R18 and 335/30R18. Toyo R888 in 335 section that would work for the rears but the closest front size is 255/35R18 which would add 1/4 inch in ride height to the front and 3/4 inch in section width. Has anyone tried these tires on a Diablo? Any issues with rubbing?

I only run the PZeros on the 6.0.
BB6 Report post Posted April 7, 2016 I have a '99 SV - RWD from the factory so no driveline issues with running slightly bigger fronts.

I just went through all of this with my tire shop, I had to order the Toyo R888 tires for the Diablo 18", not the sexiest looking tire thats for sure, but beggars can't be choosers. I can not believe Michelin stopped producing them. I have the Murcielago 18" wheels on mine with 255/35 front and 335/30 rear no rubbing at all with the Michelin , mind you I am still waiting for my Toyo tires yet to be seen. I will post when they arrive.

whiteout Report post Posted April 14, 2016 FYI, Michelins don't work with the AWD cars anyways. I had to replace the tires on my Viper and ran into the same issue with the death of Michelin 335/30R18. So I went with R888, personally I think they look great and the car handles so much better than with the PS2s. I will be putting a set on my LP640 once the pzeros wear down. whiteout Report post Posted April 14, 2016 I'm curious why everyone is avoiding Pzeros or Corsas? I cannot speak to Corsas. But they cost $1614. Here's my comparison against the Pzero: Michelin PS2: cost, life and performance are better than Pzero. Toyo R888: R888 is on a whole different level of grip. R888 life is 100 treadwear vs. Pzeros 200 treadware. Cost: $1,150. - R888 requires a 255/35 front tire BGF Rival S (only available at Tire Rack): Viper owners say that they have longer life and better traction than PS2. Cost: $1,201 - Rival requires a 245/40 front tire
Auraraptor Report post Posted April 14, 2016 Thank you. My understanding is the Pzero circa 2001 is not the same Pzero you buy today. Irrespective, the design itself is definafetly an older one.
Night Life Report post Posted May 22, 2016 Bump Well I finally installed the R888 tires on my DR, they look mean as hell, still not the prettiest tire though imo, but beggars can't be choosers. They are very very soft tires, pick up every gravel bit on the road, not sure how long they will last I am hoping 2 seasons but we shall see. whiteout Report post Posted May 22, 2016 Good choice. I run R888 on the Viper and absolutely love that tire.
k-works Report post Posted May 27, 2017 Btw, as I know Pirelli has got a PZero System model that's readily available new. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...l=P+Zero+System It's kinda that they had PZero Assimetrico and PZero Direzionale, and they had stacked both types in one style called "system". The tires do not pop up on the Pirelli website, but I've seen some shots with new stickers, so they should come up if you look after those. whiteout Report post Posted June 17, 2017 I just installed R888R on my Murci, these should work for the Diablo too. http://www.lambopower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=81073
Double Report post Posted June 20, 2017 There is a whole family of PZero tires, at-least 18 here alone: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/pirelli-tires.jsp And that's not factoring in, that they change a given model over it's life but don't always rename it. Just 2 years ago they rolled out a new "P Zero" (just P Zero) that has a different tread pattern than the immediately prior P Zero. Imagine buying one tire to replace one that is damaged; they won't match.
sulley Report post Posted July 3, 2017 I'm finding this one a bit interesting ... we're extremely limited in Australia in terms of options ... BUT at huge extortionate costs. So the Pirelli PZero Corsa ... approx AUD$910 ... so that's $1800 for the rears alone!! Then the front's are about $700 each ... so all up ... AUD$3200 for a full set of Corsa tyres. The issue I have is when I go out to the desert ... the Rosso is not rated to a high enough speed. It starts to overheat and partially delaminate. It's apparently only rated to 300kph ... but in the desert we can easily do 15 to 20 runs in excess of 325kph ... continuously. So ... I'm investigating options. I currently have Corsa Direzionale on the front and Rosso on the rear. I think the rear is less of an issue I have a 6.0 ... so the tyre rolling radii need to match. I'm interested in the R888 ... but there is no front option. I love the PS2 except the price ... but there is no rear option. We have the option of Kuhmo for the fronts here ... they're well respected and have a great reputation incl. (Y) rated in excess of 300kph ... but no rear option. What have others done? I'm thinking of I get the rolling radii to match, why not mix front and rear? Surely it's better than crappy old Pirelli that just won't take the speed of car at full tilt? Thoughts ... Cheers Andre
whiteout Report post Posted July 3, 2017 For what you're doing, 2WD with R888R seems like the best option for the price and sustained high speeds. You'll have to bump to a 255 front, but these are the best tires I've ever had on a Murci (close enough to 6.0 chassis characteristics). With AWD I was able to spin all 4 pzero with a Murci 6.2 and in 2WD all Murci's would leave a wall of tire smoke when hitting it in first gear (see avatar pic.) My LP640 makes 612-719 wheel horsepower depending on dyno and the R888R hook in first gear. The wider front tires help kill understeer in the canyons and the ride is a softer than pzero. . . and they look really good. The R888 was replaced by the R888R and tire rack has them under $1200 for the entire car.
Night Life Report post Posted July 3, 2017 Highly recommend the R888 B) They last much longer than I expected, the grip in rain or hot tar-mac is excellent.
