  1. I wholeheartedly endorse this philosophy.
  2. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the input; this is incredibly valuable, and I really appreciate it.
  3. I'm experiencing an odd situation at my house and was hoping to get some feedback from other forum members. About a month ago, at 9PM on a Saturday, I had someone rapidly ring my doorbell. When I went to the door, no one was there. I went outside to investigate, and then I heard a loud car drive away past the front of my house without any lights on. The person braked as they went by, and I recognized the distinctive tail lights of an older Jeep Wrangler. Flashback to Sunday night, when again, at 9PM, we hear a rapid series of doorbell pushes. Again, we go outside to investigate. My wife sees two men (who she describes as teenagers...wearing jeans and one with a white hat) hiding about 80 feet from our front door in the bushes and yells at them; they appear startled, and run over the hill at the edge of our property. Immediately thereafter, a loud black Jeep Wrangler (2-doors, black soft top) speeds off from behind the hill in front of house towards the street exit (3 people inside). It was dusk, but I could see that the car had no license plates. We live in an upscale neighborhood off a main road; there are eight homes on a loop, all on about 2.5 acre parcels. In both cases, it was clear we were home. There were cars in the driveway and lights on in the house. I realize this probably is just teenagers being stupid, but I'm having difficulty understanding their motive here. They know we're home...and they want to see what the people who live there look like? I don't get it. We have a 2-year old daughter. No one else in the neighborhood has had this happen to them; they seem to be specifically targeting our house. We called the police after this happened the second time, but they had no other reports of similar behavior. I'm not sure if this is car-related. We obviously have some exotic cars that are fairly unique to this town. While I've been careful to ensure no one has ever followed me home, it is entirely possible that someone saw me turn in to the loop at some point from the main road, and it would be easy to figure out which house it is (spoiler...it's the one with 4000sqft detached garage under construction). Questions: * Does anyone understand the motive here? * Am I over-reacting in being concerned with this? * We have a security system on the house (and will in the new garage), but I don't like the concept of people sneaking on to the property. What else should I be doing? My wife is freaking out a bit about this, so any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Congrats! I'm almost positive that's my old '04 that I owned for six years in Oregon. If it is, you got yourself a fantastic car.
  5. I'm purchasing a lift for the garage I'm building; I will likely go with either BendPak or Atlas.
  6. A bit off topic, but do you use skid plates on your LP640?
  7. I'm a bit late in posting this, but I figured rather late than never. I ended up purchasing the '03 SP Engineering Murcielago a few months ago. I had been looking the last couple of years for a manual Murcielago after selling my manual '04 Gallardo a few years ago. When this car popped up, I knew I wasn't likely to get another chance to purchase a manual in Monterey Blue. The car definitely needs a bit of deferred maintenance (the front lift hose leaks and the engine idle surges), but nothing that can't be readily resolved. I've already replaced the tires and have ironed out a few of the minor interior items that needed to be addressed; my hope is to have everything else worked out by the time Spring arrives. I'm fairly confident that several members of this forum know a lot more about this car than I do. It does have the MS Racing Stage 2 exhaust (with no cats), a few MaCarbon interior bits, a custom stereo, and is currently running RWD. It's in fantastic cosmetic condition for having 28k miles. I also wanted to say thanks to Kaoss who gave me the full low-down on his former car! Here are a few pics:
  8. I just ordered a 19/20 set of these tires for the Murcielago I just bought. It's definitely hard to find tires for the 19/20 setup.
  9. '04 Gallardos have the Lamborghini logo embossed in black. Starting with the '05s, the logo is in gold. Best of luck on your search. My first exotic was an orange '04 Gallardo manual. I owned it for six years and sold it a year and a half ago. The car was absolutely bulletproof.
  10. From the tone of his eBay ad, it appears he's getting tired of dealing with $280k offers...
  11. For whatever it's worth, this car was first on eBay on 11/28 for $317k, so it's been for sale for over a month. I know the phase "should sell quickly" means something different in the realm of exotics, but if this was an unbeatable fantastic deal, you would think it would have been snatched up by now. I'm curious at what price point this car would be a no-brainer purchase decision - $275k?
  12. Just to clarify here, was the 2012 suspension just stiff, or rather bouncy? These seem like two different things per the descriptions in this thread.
  13. I'm thinking of replacing my R8 with an '09 or '10 LP560 with between 10-15k miles. Any opinions as to what price range I should be looking for? Asking prices seem to be around $150k. Thanks in advance!
  14. Congrats on the purchase...now post some pics!
  15. The price somewhat depends on the color, doesn't it? I imagine the Verde Ithica and Monterrey Blue SVs fetched more than some of the more "common" [irony implied] colors (yellow, matte black, etc.).
  16. Hi Jirre. I confess I haven't read this thread in detail, but I did find a couple of references to members saying you should wait out this summer and purchase an Aventador next. I'm in a similar position to you (i.e., 6 months of summer driving), and am contemplating a similar decision (i.e., buy a Murcielago/Superleggera/Performante now, or just wait for an Aventador). If you really are in a position where you can wait a summer and then purchase an Aventador, I would highly recommend that. I think the Aventador is the best looking car I have ever seen...and I would buy one in a heartbeat, even if it meant waiting a summer. I think I'm about two summer's away from being comfortable with Aventador depreciation, but I can't think of anything else I'd rather own. Patience is your friend. Just my 2 cents...
  17. You're referring to Apple's CarPlay, correct? This is Apple's forthcoming technology to have your phone be the "brain" for your in-car stereo (navigation, incoming email/texts, Siri, etc.). I don't believe there are any current aftermarket receivers with CarPlay compatibility, but I believe Alpine will have them available by the fall: http://www.macrumors.com/2014/04/13/alpine-carplay-console/
  18. Prices vary from dealer to dealer, but in my experience it has always been a fixed cost. BMCD charged me $567 for the '03 Murciealgo PPI.
  19. Wow, thanks for that info. This is completely different from what the current owner and San Francisco Sports Cars told me about the ownership history. The claim was that the current owner had owned the car for 10 years since 800 miles. The CarFax for the car is completely inconclusive. It shows only two owners, but has no entries since December 2008, when it had 10k miles.
  20. Yeah, that's exactly what I tried to do. The owner's response was that even though he had represented the car as being recently serviced and needing nothing mechanically, he was selling the car "as-is" and was unwilling to renegotiate the price based on the PPI results.
  21. Congrats Jason, what a great looking car!
  22. Here was the other thread where some people thought it was stock: http://www.lambopower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=70732 That said, you could very well be correct that it was a custom job. Also, here are the detailed pictures from when the car was at San Francisco Sports Cars that show the green footwell lighting: http://sanfranciscosportscars.com/2003-lam...extras/gallery/
  23. I thought it was determined in the other thread on this car that the alcantara interior was actually factory? The green interior lights appear to just be in the footwell. Does an '03 Murcielago normally have footwell lighting?
  24. Thanks for this Roy. I PM'ed you some more specific questions regarding this.
