  1. Is anyone else concerned about the fact that '13 Aventadors have had 9 Recalls in the past 6-7 months? From what I'm hearing, there is a growing lack of confidence in the car and Lamborghini's capability to make a reliable product for a high price. Could be one reason for the soft after market sales of these cars.
  2. Well worth the $. My cost was $2,500.00. Significant and needed improvement.
  3. Back on June 15, I posted a thread here on a problem with my Aventador engine overheating at low speeds. The cause and potential fix for the problem may be of interest to other Aventador owners. The cause of the overheating problem was due to a stone being kicked up by the right rear wheel and lodging in the right rear fan housing and jamming one of the fan blades which prevented the fan from operating. At speeds above 45-50 mph, there was enough air velocity to keep the engine operating within a normal range. The fix was simple-remove the stone. No damage to the fan, blades, sensors etc. Working with Greg Miller and Casey at Lamborghini of Washington, a fine mesh screen was purchased and installed in the left and right wheel wells to prevent any further stones etc causing any similar problems in the future. The mesh was sized to allow sufficient air to reach the fan. The screens are not visible unless the rear wheels are removed. Thanks to both Greg and Casey for a job well done.
  4. Not sure where this is coming from, but I had the stock upgrade done yesterday.
  5. Was caught in a large stop and go traffic jam yesterday in my '13. After ~ a half hour, engine temp. started to increase. Had to pull over and shut down to cool things off when it got into the red zone. When I turned the engine off, some coolant blew out the overfill. When the traffic started moving again, enough air was getting to the back to keep the temp in the normal operating zone. First time with this problem. Anyone else have this problem? As a side note, I understood the side vents were set up to automatically open if the engine temp got too high. This did not happen. Not sure if the vent operation is predicated on temp and speed.
  6. For those of you who have tracked an Aventador, what cold and hot tire pressures for the stock tires have you been using? Thanks.
  7. There is good advice here. I would also suggest you think through why you want to purchase an "exotic" and what you want to do with it. Keep it for a year or two and sell it, Garage Queen, DD, "Arrive" Car, want to check out tracking a car etc? You might decide that you would like to do a couple of these alternatives. Each one will have a different financial impact over time. I recommend doing the why and what homework first, run the numbers on the "cost" to make this happen, cosider Fortis' advice here, determine the alternatives, make a decision, and enjoy. Once you get to the alternatives part of all this, there are a number of folks both here and on other car boards who can offer suggestions as to what you might consider based on their experience. Best of luck.
  8. On one of the other Lambo forums, there has been a discussion on how to manually raise and lower the rear wing on the Aventador. A picture was shown of a button located just below the electronic parking brake switch to do this. My '13 does not have this button. The Owner's Manual, however, does show such a button and a detailed description of how it operates. My question is do those of you who own a '12 or '13 [or both! ] Aventador have this button on your cars? Either I have the wrong Owner's Manual or my car is missing something. My other question is whether one of the "expensive" CTek battery charger/maintainers was included with your car when you purchased it. Thanks.
  9. If someone has taken the divider out of the trunk, please let us know how you accomplished this. It looks like there are 2 circular fasteners holding it on the luggage compartment firewalls, but I'm not sure how to get these released.
  10. How do you manually turn off the cyl. deactivation?
  11. My vin is a higher number than your vin.
  12. Appreciate all the kind comments. VBOXKING, I have not driven a '12 and cannot comment on any possible difference in the suspension between the two models. I can say, however, that the suspension in the Aventador using the Sport and Corsa settings feels "softer" than a 430 Scud and a Viper ACR.
  13. Start/Stop not a problem-just switch it off dyring start up. What is a bit of a "problem" is the gear box switching to neutral after 6 seconds when the car is stopped and the driver's foot is off the brake. There is a faint warning chime when this happens that is difficult to hear. Have had a couple of situations at stop lights when this happened-light changes, down on the gas, engine revs, car does not move, car behind thinking"Drive your new Lambo much?" Just have to keep your foot on the brake when stopped or check the display before starting off. Can't say much about the cyl. deactivation. It has come on once-small display in lower right hand corner of display. Slight press on the gas turned it off. Did not notice my speed or gear when it was activated. The car is, as I have said, absolutely great. One small negative[to me] is the difficulty getting the seat belt connected and disconnected to the right side "female" recepticle. The recepticle needs to be 2-3 inches higher. And this is NOT a driver's "gut" problem! Enclosed are a couple of pics.
  14. Something from a different perspective-my first impressions of a Lambo owner. Was at an Italien Car Show in Pocono, Pa. with my son and a new 550 Ferrari back in '92. Took the car out to the track for the Track Day, coming off the North Course onto the banking, chain of cars waiting for the point by from the slower cars in front, and a black Diablo comes roaring by all of us. A couple of laps later, same thing happens. Back in the pits when the session ends, and I walk over to the Diablo where the driver and a couple of girls were standing around. Introduced myself and said, "Just a suggestion, but it might be a good idea to wait for the point by before passing when we come out on the banking. Someone might be pulling out about the time you are going by and we could wind up damaging some great cars." So Mr. Diablo, all 5ft 6in of him says, "You talkin' to me? If you wanna talk to me , you talk to me like a man. And while you're about it. why don't you suck my c..k?" Fortunately, my son was there and quietly pulled me away back to our car. I realizes this jerk was not representative of all Lambo owners, but the experience did sour me on everything related to Lamborghinis for a while.
  15. Picked up a '13 Aventador just before Christmas last year-nero pegaso, yellow shocks, stitching, calipers etc. First Lambo I have owned. Previously, I was never attracted to Lamborghinis due to the various designs, angles on the cars etc. This one, however, looked different in a positive way. And I must say it is much more attractive in person than what one sees in pictures and videos. Still working on the break in miles-only have ~ 350 so far as the weather is not cooperating. Couple of questions. Do Lamborghinis, particularly the Aventadors, need to have a battery maintainer/charger such as a C-Tek hooked up when they will not be driven for a week or so? This is an absolute requirement for a number of Ferrari models due to their crappy OEM batteries. What is the torque for the lug nuts? Can't find anything about this in the Owner's Manual. There is a divider in the front luggage compartment which reduces the amount of useable space. Can this be removed? It appears that there are 2 "screws" on the sides of the divider holding it in place that could possibly be removed. Does anyone have the stock suspension settings-camber, caster, toe, ride height etc-for the Aventador or know where they might be published? At what point does the cyl. deactivation come on? Is it speed and/or gear related? I'll attempt a driving impression write-up after some more seat time and compare the car with several other non- Lambo models. Suffice it to say, so far the Aventador is one impressive automobile. Thanks.
