  1. The reason I can afford this car is by not wasting money . I figure why replace it if glue will keep the housing on. Again, the posts aren't visible. Its behind the glass. I have the mirrors covered in 3M clearbra too. Of course, if glue for some reason won't bond it well enough at speed I might have to replace it.
  2. I thought it was carbon fiber, but it looks tan under the paint. A cyclist hit my sideview mirror (I was stopped) and the housing broke off (it is held on by 4 posts behind the motor that the glass sits on top of. I have seen pieces of the underside of the front bumper (where it scrapes) look tan as well under the paint. Is it fiberglass? Can I just use superglue to put the mirror housing back on (the posts are behind the mirror, so it won't show). I'm lucky the mirror didn't break, just popped out.
  3. I just had my wheel rewrapped in alcantara. Looks FANTASTIC! I'll post pics after intallation. Price was about 70% off what others are charging. Anyhow, according to the service manual the airbag screws are to be tightened to 8nm. However, nothing is said about the 4 screws holding the steering wheel on. Anyone know the torque specs?
  4. Just wanted to comment that you should NOT be using power steering fluid, at least in the 02 Murc. I looked up the fluid specs, and it actually uses a specific synthetic automatic transmission fluid rating. Presumably because of the hydraulic lifting system?
  5. Allan, which generation Plastic mess-06 were they? fjb, I'd be curious to know if the Murc has cheap easy mods for power gains.
  6. Put a crescent wrench on the bottom shaft (it'll have two flat spots for it). Hold wrench, twist top portion. Takes 20 seconds. And yes, fchris' knobs are much lighter and the shaft thicker, the way the factory ones should have been!
  7. +1000 on both points. I've been on track with the Plastic mess-06, and it's fast. I drove it on track as well, and with no seat time in the car my lap times were almost as fast as my Viper. I'm guessing that with equal seat time, I could probably run faster with the Plastic mess-06 (but I still choose Viper, it looks better ). I could leave my Murcie in the dust with the Plastic mess-06 or Viper. The stock braking is terrible, and the AWD just doesn't allow me to drive the car like I want. I laugh when I hear comments like, "I'd take that Import/POS/etc.car over a Lambo/Ferrari/other Exotic." Not true. I actually offered my car to a guy who said that. He didn't know what to say. Let's face it... most of us who buy exotics do it for the cache. If we wanted the ultimate fastest car, we'd buy a gutted CRX/POS/etc. and mod the crap out of it. One of my previous Vipers was over 1000hp. Was it fun? Yes. Would I trade my Murc for it? That's like asking if I want a bag of concrete to quench my thirst. It's not in the same consideration set. If the Plastic mess-06/ZR1 didn't look like the othe 50,000 vettes out there, I'd get one in a heartbeat. Still might, but not when the pricetag is close to that of an exotic. I'm 80% performance, 20% looks. The ZR1 maxes out performance, scores low in looks.
  8. Do you have any exterior pics? By 32" I'm guessing you meant 32'? Or does the 32" measure something else like clearance?
  9. What are you guys actually spraying? Just the butterflies, or are you spraying the carb cleaner into the intake as well?
  10. Glad it worked! You can let me borrow the LDAS one day and we'll call it even
  11. With car off, hold wings button. Turn key to on (not start), and hold button until wings go up and then all the way down. Let us know if that fixes the problem.
  12. Sold to me Although I rarely listen to music in the Murc, it's probably because the bass sucks. Hopefully this will improve it! Thanks for the tech support last night Infamous... in case anyone didn't know Infamous has his own shop and knows his stuff!
  13. Yep, that's me! Haven't been on the Alley in a while, sometimes on the VCA boards. Too many cars, too many forums
  14. If the price were right, I'd buy one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hamann-Side...8#ht_500wt_1182
  15. GREAT! Glad it worked for you. I spent hours trying to research exactly what to do (many thanks to people like Jeff Lambo who directed me towards the valve), and it justifies the time spent if others can benefit too. How much did you have to turn your screw to fix the problem? Do you think if you turned it a little more, the suspension error would go away too?
  16. That looks great! Can you PM me pricing info, or just post it on the thread?
  17. OK, figured it out. Radio fuse is strange. It is constant on. The mirror fuse is switched, though. When connected, the V1 boots up very slowly (starts crackling at first) but when ignition is on for a second it works great. The best part is the V1 turns off with the ignition off. Problem solved! EDIT: I hooked up my car to a battery tender. My battery must have been low before. Quick charge, and the V1 boots up fast just fine. Mirror fuse works great. I recommend using an add-a-fuse so you protect the circuit.
  18. I started doing that by plugging in V1 into each fuse. Didn't want to damage anything unnecessarily by turning on/off and pulling out each fuse to rewire. I was hoping someone else had already figured it out lol.
  19. I wonder if any of the fuses are switched. The radio fuse on the driver's side I thought would be, but it turn out not. Neither are the fog lights. Strangely, by tapping in there the V1 only works when the fog lights are on. I may just have to get used to turning the V1 off/on.
  20. What does the error light on the suspension control panel look like? You mean the panel on the center console? I don't remember exactly if that flashed, but I THINK it wasn't working either when I was getting the lift error light. I assume the lift light affects the suspensions control as well, since they both involve the front shocks.
  21. Hmm, I may have done something with the spoiler while resetting the bat wings. I think there's a method to resetting the spoiler, too. I'll try that. Thanks guys!
  22. Thanks Sprite (not sure who Aaron is, I assume you meant me ). I called them, and they said they tap into the ignition wire itself. I would rather not do that. Anyone else successfully tap into one of the fuses that are switched? There's gotta be at least one...
  23. I'm trying to hardwire my Valentine 1 radar. I thought I could tie into the radio fuse in the driver's fusebox, but it is not switched power (radar stays on even after car turns off). Anyone know what a switched power fuse would be on the driver's side? If not, is there one on the passenger side?
  24. OK, got it. I'll have to let my car decide, and see if the spoiler error comes up again. Anyone else notice if the spoiler goes up if the bat wings are locked up?
