  1. I've been having decent luck finding tolerable prices on Armslist Then there is always finding out what local stores will be getting shipments in and checking in ASAP the morning of those days to see what they have. I was able to score a CCI 500 rd brick or .22 LR for $40 at Dick's the other morning.
  2. Nope, just a basic LCP....no laser. The ammo was 25 rounds Hornaday self defense, 100 rounds of the "zombie killer" stuff, then another 60 of target loads. I'll be checking back towards the end of the week to see if it's there. The way I see it is you've got a $250-$275 pistol, $40-50 between the two holsters, and another $70-$90 in ammo. $390 sounds like a solid grand total for everything in used market value....def not $490. I just got a little pissed yesterday that the employee felt like $350 was a laughable, lowball offer. There is a lot of people with more money than sense in the area, so some yuppie with no knowledge of what he's getting will buy it thinking he got a good deal I'm sure.
  3. Went to my local range/store today. I stay away from their new inventory because the mark-up is ridiculous, but every now and then they have some decent deals in the consignment counter. I've noticed an LCP package sitting in the consignment counter for at least the past week now. It includes the pistol, about 180 rounds of ammo (.380 acp), 2 extra mags, and 2 holsters. The price tag said "Make Offer", so I wanted to tell a store employee that I'd like to offer $350. He basically laughed and said the consignor won't even consider it. Apparently this guy's bottom line for this USED LCP is $490....and that "bottom line" just got reduced. Am I alone in thinking that is absolutely ridiculous? Are Ruger LCPs not still $300 pistols new? I wasn't aware this "scare" was affecting low capacity pocket guns too.
  4. Gun show back in town, saw some pretty optimistic prices. Got a few Pmags for $20/ea, factory Glock 17rd mag for $36, two BX 25 mags for $45/ea
  5. Nice buy! Went to the Dixie Gun and Knife show today...biggest show in Charlotte. Prices were, as expected, ridiculous. Lowest price AR I saw was $1200 for a Delton, AKs at $999, 9mm ammo at ~$1/round. I did buy a few Pmags at $30 for 30 round mags (unfortunately a good deal) and some .22LR sensitive exploding targets at $20/lb.
  6. glockstore.com has high cap factory glock mags in stock.
  7. I used this link a few weeks ago and received this from Robert Pettinger Thank you for contacting me to express your thoughts regarding the national discussion about gun control reforms in the wake of the recent shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. I am glad to have the benefit of knowing your opinion. The tragic loss at Sandy Hook Elementary School cannot be put into words. The actions of this evil man took the lives of the most vulnerable in our society. My heart and deepest sympathies continue to go out to the families who lost their loved ones. Over the past several weeks, I have heard from many of my constituents who are still trying to understand the actions of a mad man and attempting to have an adult conversation about gun control. In ordering the Constitution of the United States, our Founding Fathers placed "the right to keep and bear arms" second in importance only to "the freedom of speech". With every right comes an equal responsibility. Careless exercise of these rights can be detrimental to society as a whole. The actions of an errant few who abuse their freedoms should not curtail those of the majority of law abiding Americans. I believe the Second Amendment is foundational to our Republic. I am honored to hold an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association for my commitment to preserving the Second Amendment for future generations. As this vital issue moves through Congress, I promise to look at all facets of the matter, especially how pervasive violence has become in American culture. We can work together for a comprehensive, lasting, and true solution to the problem of gun violence in America, while also recognizing the mental health issues affecting our society. Thank you again for contacting me. I am honored to serve as your United States Congressman, and I will continue to fight proudly for the people and the values of the Ninth District of North Carolina. If I can ever be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to call. Sincerely, Robert Pittenger Member of Congress RMP/ek As well as this from Kay Hagen. I haven't heard anything back from her office, but according to a seperate email I signed up for her newsletter. Dear Fellow North Carolinian, Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts and opinions. This automatic e-mail is to confirm that my office has received your message. Please be assured that we will get back to you as soon as possible regarding your specific concern. In the meantime, please feel free to visit http://hagan.senate.gov to find contact information for my offices and information about what I've been doing in North Carolina and Washington. Sincerely, Kay R. Hagan United States Senator, North Carolina
  8. What price are you looking to get if you don't mind me asking?
  9. New Century Arms WASR-10 with 5 surplus 30rd steel mags, bayonet, and 120 rounds for $900. Is that a deal worth jumping on in this climate? I wouldn't mind having an AK, but $900 for a WASR?? I think I would rather spend a little extra and get a nice 1911. On the other hand, the same gun is going for 12-1400 in stores and online.
  10. So what exactly is the deal with purchasing AR15s in CT? From what I can tell in the legislative definition, they are illegal. http://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/Chap943.htm#Sec53-202a.htm
  11. That's pretty cool, I can see where you're coming from. It definitely deserves an archived listing if it ever came to an end....with some type of epic last post. I'm thinking exploding targets and a Ferrari.
  12. Found this picture going through my computer, wanted to share... BTW...why no firearm subforum?
  13. Haha, I didn't think I'd make it through the whole 4:25 before I started it, but that's a good laugh.
  14. One of my favorites out right now. This one also makes me chuckle every time
  15. That's the biggest problem right there. James Holmes was BANNED from the University of Colorado for threatening a professor, how was that not a black flag on a BG check? Military personnel that are dishonorably discharged and convicted felons can simply obtain firearms through their spouses...WTF!
  16. It seems to be a great choice with the projectiles used. I pray I never have to test that theory, except for maybe a couple of experiments at the range. The blast from the picture is from a Winchester AA clay round, I'd like to capture the blast from a PDX1 round
  17. I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to beat on one at a road course...
  18. As stated earlier in this thread, my night stand weapon is a Smith and Wesson Governor loaded with Winchester PDX1 .410 rounds Proper training is definitely important. Basic firearm handling and care is a must. When available, I'd recommend advanced self defense classes as well. Good ones will train you to use your firearm in high stress situations. Shooting at a still, paper target at the range with a resting heart rate of 70 bpm is one thing, being rudely awaken by an intruder, who is awake and alert, at 4 am is another. Shotguns are popular for home defense since they are so lethal at close range and obviously spread the shot pellets...creating a 'point and shoot' situation instead of a critical 'aim and shoot'. You have an average of 3 seconds to react in a critical situation. In a worse-case scenario, if someone were to barge into my bedroom in the middle of the night, I'm ready to fire 6 lethal .410 rounds just by reaching my hand to my night stand. By no means am I saying my gun is the 'end all be all' to home defense, but it's why it's my choice to be my first go-to until I'm able to arm myself better after the situation is accessed. In the end, any defense is better than no defense...I don't care if you have a .22 pistol at your side, it's better to be armed than not.
