  1. That's awesome! I found the two pin connector and removed the cap. I have the full instructions in the shop manual for using diagnostic mode. Once I get the car back together later this week, I will test it out. It will be very easy for me to add a on/off switch that can be accessed under the dash so it will be easy to turn on/off diagnostic mode without pulling the panel and crawling under the dash. I'll be able to those errors in the shock system. I haven't had any dash lights with the lift system, so it is the shock stiffness system that I need to diagnose. Thanks again, Jeff!   3. I have sat in my car without the seat, and at 6'2"ish, I felt like a midget. You gain at least 5 or 6 inches of headroom.
  4. Oh ok. Anyway to get that without having to buy a grey market kit for $10K with questionable license keys and no updates or support? If so, put me down for a cable, otherwise it's just a $500 paperweight.
  5. And what software do you use with the cable? My regular $14 wireless bluetooth OBDII adapter works fine with a $10 iphone app to read standard OBDII codes and reset CEL's for my Murci, so unless the cable comes with the software to read Lambo-specific codes, or talk to the Koni ECU, or Air Bag ECU's, I don't understand the value.

  7. Since I have my front shocks off, I am going to go ahead and replace some hoses on the power steering like these return lines. FYI for those that have the Koni system, there's an extra low pressure return line that Old Guy doesn't have on his later car. It's a right angled hose that looks like it will be fun to remove because the hose clamp going into the block is buried.

  9. Yeah, I definitely would start with changing the regulator if the alternator went out. But if I ever need to take the accessory belt off again, I am changing the alternator for a new one because I believe mine is still the original 15 year old unit. Regretting I didn't do that change out when I changed the AC compressor in February.

"What is the cost of lies?" - Valery Legasov Well, in this case, we can answer that it is somewhere between $982.00 and $1982.00 Great find on the regulator, especially since you are right, it's an absolute bear dealing with the belt and tensioner, even worse on a Gen 1 Murci! I would recommend that if you ever have belt off, change the belt and put on a new alternator if they are original. Someone posted that the alternator is available for around $150 new at Napa from a VW cross reference, so given what a pain it is to deal with the belt (getting access, and doing the crazy gymnastics for tensioning), it's better to just replace both while you are in there if they are old.
  12. Ah, makes sense. The angle of the seat doesn't bother me, if fact, I completely forget it's offset until someone at a car event asks about it. What about the idea of relocating the parking brake, or converting to an electronic parking brake? That brake is taking a ton of space. The Esprit put it on the door sill as a much better solution than what Lambo did.
  13. Amazing project, dude! Congrats on the progress where others have failed -- namely egear to gated. What exactly about your project of adding a bucket seat makes it an extremely custom job? The factory seat is just held in with 4 bolts, so if someone wants to replace the seat with a racing shell, they either need to find a way to mount it to the factory holes or make new holes. The seat is not part of the seat belt assembly, which makes the whole thing much easier than other cars. A while back, I had a a 90's Esprit and they had very little room. On that car, I took off the seat rail and drilled new holes in the floorboard to mount the seat directly to the floor. That same sort of thing can be done with the Murci with the stock seat or a replacement.
  14. If you take the seat out of the Murci, what you basically have left is a fully functional seat (that isn't well padded) with a ton of room. The seatbelts will work the same, you have a seat back, etc. It's not a like a 4 door car where the car is useless without a seat. You really need to just buy the car, then see how much extra room you have without a seat, and then find a seat that will fit in that extra space. For 6'5" with a helmet, it will probably be something along the lines of a racing shell type seat, but you can definitely fit with right seat. If you were over 7 feet tall, I would say to just stick some foam pads to the bottom and back of the tub and call it a day.

  16. You won't pay VAT if you are having it shipped to the US. At least make sure they don't charge you VAT.
  17. If it has the same specs, it should work. You can bet Lambo used an off the shelf part. How much is that switch? If it's inexpensive enough, it's worth the gamble.

That box exists on the 2002-2003 Murcielago, but they took it away starting in 2004. However, if you look at the diagram in the shop manual below for the Koni computer, it's still the same unit without the switch (#3 in the diagram). The switch just puts 12V onto one of the pins going in the Koni computer. So if we can figure out which pin it's adding the 12V, we can add the switch back and get the same onboard diagnostics. Anyone happen to know which pin?
  19. Good catch. If you look at the insides of the doors, they didn't wrap everything, and you can see it was either a dark grey or black before the wrap.
  20. Interesting that Coparts lists the retail value of a good 2004 gated with 36k miles at $225k.
  21. That's also a good time to change the coolant hoses. Almost all Murci's are overdue for new coolant hoses if they haven't been done already.
  22. Has it always been bad since you had the car? Mine works great. It can definitely be adjusted with an "adjustment sleeve" at the back of the car. You should also check the pads look good in the separate handbrake calipers and everything is moving freely.

Only difference is the connector on the compressor wire, but you can splice in the one from the old compressor. https://www.ecoclim.net/en/compressor/sanden/fix-r134a/sd7h15/p200D71/detail.php This is a super popular compressor on many cars around the world, but the exact configuration is not common in the US. If you don't get the exact one, you risk issues with the pulley and high/low connection points.
  25. You gotta give us a few more details. How many miles on the car? E-gear? If E-gear, what's the SNAP reading on the clutch? If manual, what's the explanation given for needing a clutch? Does that price include a new throw out bearing? What was the stated cause of the check engine light? What was the stated problem with the A/C compressor? Did your front tires look worn? What's the date code on all 4 tires? Honestly, you may need all that stuff, and that price is not surprising for a dealer, or you may need next to none of it. The clutch could have a lot of life left, the AC compressor may not really be the cause of your AC not working (e.g. the refrigerant is leaking out of a Schrader valve), and you may not be due for a valve adjustment. A dealer is expensive. For instance, they are going to charge you $4-5K for a compressor and $500 for a drier, and the exact same parts can be purchased from Ecoclim.com in France for $400-500 for the compressor and $50 for the drier. It's a royal pain to change the compressor while the engine is in the car on a gen-1 Murci. I know because I did it, but it's not crazy difficult and can definitely be done in the car.
