  1. 4xchamp Thanks for your post and the photos. Very helpful i did some more investigation and looks like others have done well with the 3M Urethane Seam Sealer 08367 on the countach. Guess I will order some.   2. I recall a few years back the on-going debate between using black silicone (matte finish) vs a seam sealer (urethane, etc...) Has anyone had success using the 3M Urethane Seam Sealant on the Countach body panels? https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-...2000&rt=rud Wondering if this can be used around the taillights? For re-glueing the Front Turnsignal Housing lenses and frames or rear quarter window glass and frames.... thinking this Polyurethane Glass Sealant would work? https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-...4273&rt=rud Curious what factory used and what those who've had restorations done used.   4. Thanks Kidzvillage That would be great if you could do that. It looks to be a very good option for myself and others looking to keep their OEM gear shift knobs for shows, nostalgia, etc... and have a spare-reproduction one for normal driving, etc.... Please keep us posted. Thanks again Dave
  5. With the current age of the Countach approaching almost 4 decades, the countach shift knob is one of those items no longer available from Lamborghini. Well they do offer a replacement knob, but it looks nothing like the original. More like an Alfa Romeo/Lancia vintage 1970's Gear shift knob. I came across this company online that replicated the original Countach knob. Reproduction Countach Shift Knob Curious if fellow members have ordered one from them? Reached out to them, but no response. Looks to be pretty spot on. Would love to have a spare, but it's looking like I will have to have mine re-upholstered instead. Dave

Eddie Van Halen confirms that the exhaust sound he recorded on Panama was of his Lamborghini..... not a Countach but his beloved 1972 Miura S (which he still owns today). confirmed here at 32.30minute mark during his recent Smithsonian Interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXoHyiJUItQ Hope this ends the 30yrs of speculation ; )

  9. You are probably right as it seems they changed slightly from LP400 to LP400S/LP500S. I'm hoping someone with an LP400S/LP500S with euro fenders can take some quick measurements of the location or whole size or quick template. Heck, someone with a spare Euro Fender can also easily do this ; 0 D

  12. I know there have been a few of you that have updated your US based look to the Euro look and got rid of the ugly US day time running lights/reflectors on one of your Countaches in the past. I was contemplating going the same route but instead of buying (NEW) Euro Fenders, I wanted to KEEP my stock US fenders and have the holes for the US Fender Reflectors properly filled over with aluminum. (the dilemma) The euro fender turn signal is not in the same location as the US fender light and the US Fender light has a bigger hole with a screw hole to the left and screw hole to the right of the big hole vs the Euro Fender Turn Signal hole that is smaller and has a little slot to the 6'oclock position. Can someone that is in Body/Paint Stage and has Euro Fenders OR someone that has a spare Euro Fender make me a template or take some quick measurements of the location and size of the hole for the Euro Fender Turn Signal/marker? I just hate the look of the US bumpers and these silly US Fender Lights and Rear Quarter Panel lights and would like to remove them all while doing the body work. Thanks Dave M

  15. Thanks BlownDaytona Would you happen to have a pic of your rear 1/4 window frames that you could send me or post? I know that according to the original Parts Diagrams/Illustrations it does look like the rear 1/4 window frames were 1pc with No cuts/seams and the Frames for the Front Turn Signal Housing Covers/Glass showed a 2pc design..... but others have said/seen the rear 1/4 window frames come with all 4 corners cut. I was hoping someone on the forum has ordered (in the past) the Front Frames that go over the Lenses for the Front Turn Signal Housing Buckets AND the Rear Frames that cover the rear 1/4 light/butt windows and could verify IF what they received was a 1pc frame with NO Seam/Corner Cuts (OR) a multi piece frame with CUT corners (OR) a 1pc frame with cut corners, but tack welded corners on inside to hold frame together as 1pc? According to the original Countach 5000S (1984) Parts Manual, the Lamborghini part#s are: *007017025 Right Light Frame *on illustration it shows a 2pc frame *007017026 Left Light Frame *on illustration it shows a 2p frame *007017016 Spacer *on illustration it shows a 1pc frame *007017017 Spacer *on illustration it shows a 1pc frame I was told by someone that supposedly knows Countaches very well, that the 1/4 light frames from Lamborghini comes as a one piece frame, (Smooth/seamless all around with no cuts) and that due to the inconsistencies in measurements from Countach to Countach because of them being handbuilt, people had to make the cuts in the corners to accomodate variations in the body/actual glass? and that typically it is the body shops or owner that cut the 4 corners to 45* to make them fit properly around the glass and body cavity. The same goes for the Front Turn Signal Housing Frames that go over the Front Turn Signal Housing lenses, but for those you only make 45* cuts on the 2 straight corners/closest to front hood. Just wanted to see if Others could shed some light on this. Pictures for reference

  18. Wow...in NY. I recall seeing some photos years back of a Koenig looking white Countach with NY plates on it. Wonder IF it was that Barn Find Car. I think there have been some reproduction attempts made over the years in Europe and here in the US of the side skirts w/Air Vents. The Original car from the Poster looked to be an LP400S, then I've seen some white 5000S versions as well, and then some where the side skirt Air Vent Fins went across horizontally vs the original vertical fins. I agree, always been a sucker for the look. Of course it would have to be on a white Countach : ) Dave
  19. Anyone else have/HAD a poster of Koenig's White Countach from the 80's? Still have mine. Yes I know the side skirts weren't appealing for everyone's taste. Anyone on the forum have pics of the white one up close (Hi Resolution) ? Big Thanks going out to those on the forum (you know who you are) that helped me out and confirmed that the correct way the Aluminum Taillight Reflectors should be mounted underneath the Red Taillight Surrounds. Which of course is raised/stamped area facing up/visible through/against the Red Tailight Surrounds. It's easier to decipher which side to face up on the later style Aluminum Taillight Reflectors that had that rice grain/Euro Diamond pattern, but for the earlier year Countaches with the waffle pattern/little squares it can be confusing. Hope this helps someone down the road that has theirs mounted backwards like mine. Dave M
  21. Thanks for responding BlownDaytona. I just rechecked everything. All parts are genuine Lamborghini. I definitely have a left and a right aluminum reflector because If I position one reflector with the small squares protruding fwd, the other one cant have the squares facing up for the same taillight. It does allow for either swapping the aluminum reflectors to be mounted with the little squares facing forward or backward (square indentation/pockets) against each Red Persplex Tailight surround. Same fit regardless through the studs on the Red Taillight Surround. From pics I've kept over the years on other Countach Restoration/Paint Projects, I've seen these aluminum reflectors mounted both ways. This is why I thought I'd ask in this forum hoping that someone will confirm the proper way the aluminum reflectors should be facing in relationship to the way they are stamped (little squares facing up) OR (little squares facing down)

Hello everyone In the past I have seen Countach LP500s/LP400's with the Aluminum Taillight Reflectors that go behind the Red Perplex Taillight Surrounds mounted in 2 ways since they are reverseable. (Meaning that you can either have the little squares protruding towards you, or you can flip the aluminum reflector to the other side and have the more recessed little squares toward you, with the protruding squares area towards the trunk) I took some pics. Hi Resolution close ups to show what I'm talking about. I imagine that one way will reflect light better than the other.... I'm guessing/thinking that the aluminum reflectors need to have the side with the little squares protruding towards you, and not the other way around and prior owner/body shop put in my aluminum reflectors backwards???? Can someone confirm which side should be up so people are not mounting them backwards (IF) it even matters. Thanks David
