  1. By the way all... Went down to where the car I was looking at this weekend, and they were closed...Didnt see the car there either... But I've pretty much decided Im going to pass on it one way or the other... Its a Pearl White on white 87 qv. Its at Black On Black Imports on La Cienega (Los Angeles). Still dont know how much they want for the car... Not even sure its even still there... Last I heard they were going to put it on the lift, see if it was up to snuff mechanically, get the tires sorted out (They have flat spots from sitting so long) an smog it for registration (Like a dumby I never asked if the car had ever been registered). Sharam (SK90077) turned me on to it at the Concourse On Rodeo. Thanks Man! If anybody hears anything... Let me know!
  2. I feel sorry for the guy... Id hate to have that happen to a car I love... And he seems like a pretty nice guy... Lucky to be alive.
  3. I also went to the University of Arizona :thumb
  4. Wow, awesome story.... and something just accoured to me.... I'm not buying a Honda POS... The owner will understand the inquisition... or at least he should, because presumabley, he was there once too? Thanks everybody... This thread has been quite an education.... Glad I didnt jump in blindly... :notworthy
  5. Andy: (point of clarification... by "put 100 miles on it" do you mean drive it for 100 miles, or drive it at 100 mph? Either way:) Who in their right mind is going to let me "put 100 miles on it" before I fork over the $100K??? I sure as hell wouldn't... And I'm a nice guy! How did this work for you??? I mean, how did you approach the issue? Did you previously KNOW the seller? Heck, Im nervous about asking to sit in the damned thing without forking over a down payment! I've thought about the garage queen issue a lot... I dont think 10K Km would be a garage queen, but of course theres no REAL way of knowing... The owner could have put that mileage on in the first two years, and then it could have sat there for the next 12.... Or he could have driven it 30 miles every month or so for 15 years straight.... Anyways, I think I want betwen 5K and 15K miles on the odo. Id take more, but after reading what I've read here and on other sites, Id be leary to take much less.... I dont want a concourse car... I want a road car.
  6. So I have to admit, I lurk at another forum (but I dont post there) and they seem to be alluding to some differences starting with the 88.5 qv... Can anybody illuminate for me what these are?
  7. The morning after I got my license (I didnt even have the REAL thing yet... just a piece of paper) I got pulled over for 67 in a 35...
  8. I saw a 612 at the Concourse on Rodeo.... WHAT AN UGLY PIECE OF POO!
  9. Another thread Im involved in made me thought of my first car... When I was in High School.... And got me to thinking what everybody elses first cars were... Mine: 1979 BMW 320i White with Blue Interior.
  10. I knew that was coming when I hit the "submit" button.... yet I couldn't think of any other way to phrase it...
  11. Ive never owned a Toyota, so I dont think Im expecting much... Ive always owned BMWs and MBs and until VERY recently, the germans couldn't make an A/C to save their asses... So I dont have very high expectations... as long as something BLOWS on me, I'm happy, even if its hot air....
  12. Great info as always.... Now the one where Im sure to get an  What about A/C??? I know the 25 ann cars have it... Not sure about the earlier versions... When did it start being added and was it standard or option? (is there a place I can look this stuff up so I dont have to seem like such a dumbass??? )
  13. Interesting.... Aren't carbs a big PITA to keep adjusted??? And how difficult is it to change to the euro bumpers?
  14. Which brings me to a whole new topic (Mods, I feel like an ass for totally hijacking this thread... redirect me if Im out of line....) "Euro spec" I guess thats what all the "Downdraft" and "Carb" talk is about??? U.S. Specs are Fuel Injected??? RIGHT??? OR is it just the bumpers and such... Can somebody give me a quick primer (Or a thesis if thats your inclination... Im all ears) on the pros and cons of carbs versus FI? Why there is a difference, legality, maintanance, etc...
  15. I think I saw one online recently for like 12 grand or something.... My boy needs one...
  16. So figure that, plus probably ten gs to bring it up to snuff mechanically is 25 grand over whatever they want for it....
  17. Is that area of the Lambo a different material than the rest??? Soooo... How much to do a GOOD repaint on a Lambo??? Im guessing 10K?
  18. Yeah, I just looked at the pictures of Johns car in the member garage, and it didnt have the discoloration I was talking about... Ive downloaded a pic of johns car to show where the discoloration was on the one I looked at (same color, but Johns looks MUCH better) The one I looked at, this area was BANANNA PUDDING YELLOW... (hope you dont mind John...)
  19. What about the fenders... The front portion, there seemed to be an area that was discolored from the rest of the car??? almost like it was made of a different material from the rest of the car... Is this "normal"? Anybody have any idea what Im talking about?
  20. What I'm looking at right now is pretty "close." I would prefer a WHITE car rather than a Pearl white, and I would prefer a wing... And, I think I want a few more miles just to evidence the car hasnt sat for 20 years... The other thing, for a car thats never been driven, the paint job was not in THAT great condition... There was some yellowing discoloration on the rear fender "bulges" Forward of the wheel well... I think maybe the car wasn't washed or waxed in 20 years either.... Thats probably the thing that struck my wife and me the most... The paint just didn't look "right." Maybe it was the 'pearl'. I don't know how that's 'supposed' to look. But to us it looked "dingy" and considering the thing was in a showroom that morning, I would imagine they had cleaned it up as best they could? I'll go over and take another look at it if they ever call me with a price (Big slob me in crappy Smiths T-shirt may not impress, but my business card generally DOES.... ) especially if its a decent price... But I'm leaning towards waiting for another one... The interesting thing, when we drove in, their was a customer WITH THE EXACT car I want... So, I know its out there... its just a matter of waiting for it to go on sale...
  21. I havent TOTALLY decided to pass on it... I dont even know the price yet... I mean, they may make me an offer I cant refuse...
  22. So we have a consensus on the garage queens... Theyre show cars... not go cars... Is there a mileage LIMIT beyond which you wouldnt buy? I mean how many miles is TOO many miles? (Figure the same car, 85-89 CT)
