  1. Yeah, ever since the Ford Mustang Cobra power deficit fiasco, Ford has been underrating the power on some its vehicles, like the GT and the Lightning. The first giveaway was the ETs and trap speeds some mags were getting when they first tested the GT, that and it's not the lightest of vehicles at 3400 lbs. Also makes the vehicle's performance seem more impressive when it performs as well, if not better, than others with, ostensibly, more power.
  2. Just so you guys know, Motor Trend dyno tested the Plastic mess-06, Ford GT and Viper SRT10 Coupe as part of its December 2005 cover story. The Plastic mess-06 put down 453 whp to the Ford GT's 535 whp and 447 whp for the Viper. Factor in lighter weight and superior gearing, IIRC, and it's not hard to figure out why the Plastic mess-06 layed waste to that Cobra.
  3. How come you guys prefer the F-Con? The HKS F-CON V-Pro is one of the very best engine management systems available. It can be used as a piggy-back or standalone depending on the car or its intended use. I have it on my Supra and it is, undoubtedly, the best EMS I've had on my car. I highly recommend it without any reservation whatsoever. EVERY AEM owner I've taken for a ride in my car (three to date) has switched to the V-Pro. Besides the above, SP Engineering built my car and in Alex, Hiro and Jason, they have more V-Pro tuning experience than any other shop in the country. Hiro, by himself, has more experience than all the others combined. That said, Obiwan, is an excellent V-Pro tuner and does great work. He is highly recommended also.
  4. You obviously skimmed over my posts, particularly the part about driving the cars as God intended. I, myself, am not a quarter-miler and I understand members of this board don't get hard-ons hearing and reading about low ETs. There are, however, many car buffs that do; hence my comment about the car going for $80,000. With the Supra, a road race-biaed car, against all odds, has been made a drag warrior and, because full-weight fully optioned 6-speed street-legal Supras with sound systems and, of course cages, have become 8-second cars (the autos have been there for some time), this is what the car has become famous for. Travel to the road racing subforum of SupraForums, however, and you'll get a much better appreciation of the car's capabilities, to the degree that I'm willing to promote a Lambo/Supra road race shootout if more convincing is needed.
  5. Guys, I agree, to each their own, but my comments were directed at what I felt were absured and ill-informed comments about what almost every other car board recognizes as a pretty special car. You guys know I am a Lambo lover; otherwise I wouldn't be on this board. But the myopia and inferiority complexes of some Lambo owners never cease to amaze me. I lecture some of my fellow Supra and AMG owners about the same thing so the disease is clearly not Lambo owner-specific. And for those who think the car will not sell for $80,000, one of my 6speedonline buddies is prepared to pay that and more, and he's not involved in the Ebay bidding.
  6. I commented on the car when it was posted on SupraForums, stating it was one, if not the baddest, Vipers in the country. Reading that article did nothing to change my opinion. Unbelievable car.
  7. You might want to ask this question on any of the Viper forums. They'll tell you why people are so impressed with a 183 cubic in-line six that makes as much if not more power than their motors that displace, stock to stock, 2.75 times more than the Supra with four additional cylinders to boot. Of course a Viper motor doesn't have to be boosted as much as a Supra motor to make the same power. This is not a revelation. As great as the Supra motor is, there is still no replacement for displacement. Let me know if you think the Supra motor is still relatively unimpressive when Ryan Woon and Paul Efantis, two drivers of full-weight, and then some, six-speed Supras break Chad's six-speed quarter mile E.T. in the next 60 days or so. Chad and Marko have yet to race, but, again, if you ask Viper owners, there aren't a whole lot of them lining up to race Marko, huge displacement motors and torque curves as flat as Kansas notwithstanding.
  8. And I suggest you Lambo owners do the same thing and drive a couple of Supras with real power, not just 580 hp. Notice how you don't see Alex@SPE making some of the absurd statements about Supras that have been made in this thread. He's owned one before and built and driven more high horsepower Supras than any other tuner in the country, and all of you are familiar with the Lambos he owns. While Marko has made his mark in the quarter-mile, the vast majority of Supra owners drive and use their cars as God intended. I find it amazing how little some of you know and understand about forced induction, especially in a motor designed for it. Marko put somewhere between 5000-7000 miles on that car last year, kicking anybody's ass that dared to challenge him including any bike you care to mention. I can understand guys saying they prefer the exotic looks of ANY Lambo compared to the Supra, but when it comes to objective performance comparisons, we all know how that plays out. Super-high horsepower Supra owners like Marko, me and many others do not have to worry about bad or no A/C, clutches blowing up or throttle position sensors, among other things, going haywire on cars that are driven so little. Read Steve Millen's comments about the Murci clutch in the last month's R & T Standing Mile Shootout won my Hennesseys twin-turbo Viper, the same John Hennessey that's 0-4 going against two of my Texas Supra buddies. After one clutch drop, he chose to call it a day, believing he would destroy the clutch if he continued. It's pretty funny......Lambo owners commenting about the reliability of a car they know nothing about and manufactured by the company with the very best reputation for durability and reliabilty....from the Scion Xa to the Lexus LS 430. For those of you desirous of seeing what a Supra can do against your Lambo in the twisties, or on the track, I'd be happy to show you.
  9. LOL, that's some funny shit. Nice work, Allan. You have much to look forward to when your wastegates are operating properly.
  10. Now that is a beautiful Viper. One of the best and most tasteful I've seen. You are right to be careful about when and where you really put your foot in it. There's really no gathering up these beasts when you're making that kind of power and torque. I have the Race Logic Adjustable Traction Control installed in my Supra. I highly recommend it even though you've had some excellent AEM tuning. BTW, FWIW, I wouldn't touch the rear lip. Everything is nicely proportioned. Once you drop it, I don't see much out there matching your style and taste. Very nice work and congrats to you.
  11. Yeah, I know, but was hoping for some 996TT owners, and others, might have an interest.
  12. I have two BRAND NEW Continental ContiContact Sport 2s for sale. The tires are sized 315/25/19 and were delivered to SP Engineering last week. A friend of mine is selling me his brand new Michelin PS2s in the sizes I need (275/30/19s and 315/25/19s) for a killer deal and I would like to sell these tires first. The price is exactly what I have in them....$575 shipped. Tire Rack sell these tires for $310 each, plus shipping. I also have four BRAND NEW BFG KDs, sizes 265/35/18s, front, and 295/35/18s rear. Again, I am selling them for exactly what I have in them....$1,000 plus I will split the cost of shipping 50/50. Thanks for considering.
  13. Allan, You're missing my point. The Enzo tests I cited were with private cars and occurred here is the U.S., not at Fiorano. R & T drove the Enzo for 1500 miles over a week when testing it. I'm not citing any Fiorano tests except for the 430. I'll save my comments about various Lambos owning various F-cars for later.
  14. Allan, I see you've been busy. So have I, which is why I've been MIA the last few days. In any event, I was aware of the of the portion of the article you scanned when I made my original prediction that the F430 would outperform the Murci in everything except terminal velocity. It still doesn't change my opinions on this matter. If you'll read my posts carefully, you'll note I said you had a bias against F-cars that was not supported by the public record. You keep accusing Ferrari of cheating in its tests, and I've never knowingly cited Ferrari performance tests of any of its cars. I inadvertently cited manufacturer's performance data when I referred to Evo's "The Knowledge", which I subsequently deleted when you called the matter to my attention. All of the tests I've cited have been conducted by mainstream magazines, and it is those various tests of various F-cars that you have chosen to ignore unless, in your opinion, they support your position. For instance, you ignore C/D's, R & T's and Motor Trend's tests of the Enzo, all of which were well under 4-seconds in 0-60 and continue to cite the fact that Top Gear, historically one of the worst testers of cars relative to other magazines, could not break 4-seconds. The information I cited shows, without a doubt IMO, that various Ferraris tested by various magazines in various conditions have demonstrated the Ferrari's performance claims have been met time and again by independent testers. This, apparently, is not good enough for you because you continue to accuse Ferrari of cheating. Even when you toss out the best and worst independent tests of the same vehicle, it supports the fact that these cars match factory performance claims. As I said in the other thread, this reminds me so much of the same discussions I have had on SupraForums, 6speedonline, a couple of Busa forums and other performance car forums. Flat Earth Society members just refuse to believe anything that runs against their preconceived notions about various cars. Until vids were posted, there was NO WAY a Supra could beat a built Busa from a roll, or a brand new Murci or a ten-second Viper at the same event; the same way I couldn't beat my brother in a 996TT when I was rolling in an E55 (S/Ced). I believe you know the launch is everything in a 0-60 sprint. I believe you also know that launching cars with small displacement motors with torque peaking high in the power band are notoriously difficult to launch consistently, so you would expect some variance in performance data solely because of this fact. The Modenas have only 275 lb-ft as I noted and still Motor Trend went 3.92. Oh, I forgot. You categorically dismissed that. I understand such categorical denials must take place when facts get in the way. I also understand the disappointment, because I share in it, when larger displacement (with more cylinders to boot) AWD Lambos can't keep up with the certain F-cars. Last, I understand all this is even more difficult to take when the relevant F-car is the entry-level Ferrari. So let's skip to the other end of the spectrum. You tell me what top speed test of the Enzo was Ferrari cheating in.....the one where the car went 211 mph, 217.5 mph or 221 mph? Inquiring minds want to know.
