  1. In the last picture you can see how the oxidation has lifted the paint.
  2. So, started some work on it today, and started to disassemble the ving to have it repainted. What I found is this: Under all the bubbles, it does not look to be the expected moisture making the bubbles. Had a friend that is the one that when time come will paint the car at his shop to come over, and he said that what have happened is that the aluminium is detoriating. Under all the bubbles ther was this fine powder aluminium turns into. The core is made from polystyrene with a layer of polyester that should not contain moisture. Took one side off to see. Inside, the alu I can see is perfect, but probably, the priming of the ving have probably not been so from new/ not used alu-primer? After all, they was delivered from a outside supplier. This ving have been tried fixed one time before, so I found the repaired/filled patches, and a new layer of filler and new paint on it. Since the aluminium have started to oxidize, it is allmost impossible to stop the prosess unless one grind it away making the THIN layer even thinner, I was recomended to put one layer of mat and epoxy over it to avoid future blisters. As the side of the ving show, it looks like it has NOT been white in a earlier stage of its life, but yellow all the time. Anyone that might be able to help out to confirm that? Car is 1121448.
  3. If there was ANY way i could change the username on Youtube, I WOULD!!! Started on a kit many years ago that is now abandoned in the corner...
  4. I havent yet found out how to get the vid to show here, so it has to be the link then:
  5. It was a cheaper way to take the pain away when not having the funds for the dreamcar, but actually, I am looking for a new Pantera too.....
  6. I don't know, nut being a -78, it might be one of the latest LP400 's or a S1. But if it was a S1 at that price, it should be nice. Maybe Chaparall can tell/ have a link?
  7. Not ment to be a bashing, but I question the way one talks up one specific car that almost nobody else seem to see the "significanse" of. But considdering what people say here, does'nt that make you wonder if the walue you think is fair might be a bit on the high side since there is a gap of $200K in what is considdered correct price? Yes, it has some sort of history, but in general, a famous owner or movie-car like the Cannonballcar has more appeal, I would belive.. It might be to someones liking that it is a FI car, but of all the different markets around the world, only in the US would an FI maybe command the same price as a qualityvice like carbed car. In europe, Asia or middel east, a carbed would be considdered supreem! A 1978 for $350K? Wery likely since that is a lowbody Bravo-wheeled LP400S1, of those there are few, and the most sought after, that collectors want. As for the 1979 Bravo car I found here in Norway, I have had over 20 inquieries of interested people. Everybody wants a Bravo-car! Prices move up and down all the time, but most upwards for these sought after cars. In the long run, 100K is shortsighted yes, but we talk of selling price now, not what it might be in 5 years time. Nobody know what the future brings.
  8. The red restyling consept supposed to carry a 7 liter engine, hence named "7000" is in a japanese collection, and the yellow LP500 (the original show car) met the crash barrier at MIRA in England in 1970 if i don't recall it to wrong. SO, the red and the green is the ONLY prototipos in existence worth mentioning in my book.
  9. The Anniversary-look TT guy that knew the owner did in the end obviously not feel like responding to my e-mails... I told I would give a offer for it, but a realistic one. Asked for more contactinfo than his nick on this site, and that ended the communication... Just another guy beliving all Lambos are gold when they are altered...
  10. I agree with Allan here This is not a prototype! A real prototipo from lambo is one of the four cars you see below here. The Fi car in question is merely a market adjustment. Any FI car is just as much a Countach as any other, since they were factory-built the way they are, only just with a few differences to a euro-spec car. Euro-spec or US-spec.... same for me, but I prefere carbs and the sound they make over the (what I belive) better drivability of a injected engine. So in my eyes, this is a FI car in a great color suitable for someone that wants the benefits of a FI car. After a shitload of year saving up money to get myself a car, I should maybe be a follower of the little group that seeks to give the general public the impression the car is worth loads and loads of money, but I prefere people that actually sees what they have, and on a forum like this understad that the members more than any understand the value of the cars, and not spend all their time trying to talk their specific car up into a class where it does not belong. Remember this: We here on lambopower are not the unaware general public.
  11. Both places. Same car. Was easy to get the feeling that he wanted people to "talk" the car up, to make it an important historic piece. Obviously to have a reason to get rich fast.. Better go get Roys LP400S2 in black, and still have around $150K to other stuff.
  12. As some here sugested, it would come for sale, and not only that, IT IS OVERPRICED to the extreme! You can allmost get a LP400 for these $$$.. Sorry to say so to the owner, but i think you have used this site to research the car, but still, you have missed out on the interest from enthusiast and their willingness to get this car. I for one see no reason to pay a premium on ANY injected car over a carbed Countach! http://bringatrailer.com/2012/03/28/bat-ex...tion-prototype/
  13. Total hight of my car to the bar that lies at the rear and is the highest point is 107 cm as it is supposed to be. ut my car has no exhaust, no fuel and no oil, so that might effect the hight when "wet". 107cm = 42,1" Official LP400 height is 107 cm. Ground Clear 12,5 cm. Official S3 and later is 107 cm. G C 12,5 cm. Low S1 and S2 is 103,9cm. G C 11.0 cm. Seems to be only 1,5 cm lower spring-setting. Groundclearence at the lowest point on my car is not easy to spot, but frame betwine the front suspension looks to be it. 107 cm - 103,9 cm - 1,5 cm = 1,6 cm!! That is less than 2/3" in height difference of the body itself.
  14. Well I hear all say so, and it is not that I don't belive them, but I want to know EXACT how much they differ if they do. If others can take these measurements, it will tell. I can do on a LP400 and a LP500S next week. Here are the ones on mine: Front (green) 93 cm and rear (red) 93 cm. That is 36 2/3" both front and rear. See on the photos exact where I put the bar over the roof, and what I considder the bottom of the rockers.
  15. If any other too would go and take these masurements (top body to lovest on rocker) both red and green line, and what car it is taken on, it would be helpful. I will on a 1982 model LP400S3.
  16. I do belive in the difference, but I think the frame inside is quite like in measurements exept for the taper to the front window. If you put two LP500S from 1983 (or any two Countach's from the same year) side by side, and measure, you will find differences. Doors from any two cars from the same year is NOT interchangable, the hole to the naca duct on the side can be a bit of from side to side on the same car, and different height to the other car. If one take a measurement on the lower part of the rocker panel, and measure it to the top of the roof at the back of the cabin and front , I would be surpriced if there was much difference other than the front measurement. I will take measures of mine, and try to get to do the same on the LP400 early next week.
  17. Allso, look at the bar that splits the side glass. On the early cars, it tapers down towards the front, and is paralell to the roof. On the black car, it is still paralell to the roof, but it is allso paralell to the ground. The lower glass does not have the same shape. Later car, higher front measure on the lower glass that early car.
  18. What I belive, after looking at some cars, is that the roof is only lower in the front. On the early cars, you can see that it has a slight tapering towards the windshield from the point at the rear end of the door. On the black LP500S you see no taper, and after test-sitting both my LP400S3 and a LP400 the same day, I have to say that they felt EXACTLY the same to be inside, exept for the view to the front, where the S3 gave a bit better view because the glass reach higher. I do not think that the total hight of the body is different.
  19. I am convinced that the Diablos eventually will go up in value. It is just the timeframe that matters. It won't be next year....
  20. So, by the end of the week, all Countach's around will be butchered to pieces, and sold of as gold
  21. Useless? Don't you love to read an article in italian on a car that is covered up?
  22. I think Scary Spice's tits looks amazing in that photo! She could do this to me anytime!
