  1. I watched the car roll up to the block and not hit the reserve. I video taped the whole thing. I will try to attach it if I can figure out how to do it. It was very cool seeing the car that made me lust for a Countach. It was like walking up to a celebrity. AFTER ALL THE YEARS OF SEEING IT IN THE MOVIE, HERE IT IS IN THE FLESH!
  2. The weather looks questionable. I don't know if it will happen for me. How about if I bring my rag top Audi with new 19" wheels. LOL
  3. Better to spend 10 or 15k more and get a better example. You'll end up paying for it in the end going cheep. Remember, there is almost always a reason a car like this is sold that much lower then normal value. Pony up the extra cash, get the color you want and a good car to boot.
  4. Could be that the Mach 5 wheels were copied by Lamborghini.
  5. I purchased my 88.5 countach red/tan about a year and 1/2 ago. Yes the car was a dream car of mine. I had the posters up on my wall in high school and college. I've owned Porsche, Ferrari, and other great cars. Yes I could have purchased almost any car I desired but I chose the countach. Why? First and foremost no matter what car you can conger up, weather it's a concept car or Speed Racer's Mach 5, the countach WILL get all or most of the attention. People will follow you. You will get photographed wherever you go. You will get the thumbs up and people waving at you, women want rides and men are either jealous of you or want to hang around you. I sometimes feel that the car makes you some sort of celebrity if you will. That’s enough about the esthetics. Let’s talk about driving the car and which one was the best choice for me. I researched the CT for some time before looking to buy one. What I found was that I like the body style pre 1989 anniversary edition. The 88.5 has the digital climate control that has better cooling. I said better cooling not great cooling. If the temp is over 90 and humid, you might want to take a towel with you to dry your brow. I live in Palm Beach Florida and feel the car keeps me cool enough during the day at 85 degrees. It is a late model car at the end of production so most of the bugs had been worked out and it has the QV FI engine I am 5'6" and fit very comfortably in the cabin. If you are over 6'1" YOU MIGHT BE IN TROUBLE. This car is a true driver’s car. It is raw with lots of feedback. It will take some time to get used to driving her and learning how to judge things around you. The car can and will be intimidating the first time you get in it to drive it. I suggest that you acclimate yourself to it, go over the way the interior is laid out and take your time. The clutch is a bit heavy and the pedals are close together. I cut the bottom corners of the break and clutch pedals off like the 89 anniversary to allow an easier driving experience. I have found the reliability of the car to be very good. These cars are made to be driven. It's those cars that have super low miles on them or the ones that have been in storage for a long time that you should stay away from. I put 5,500 miles on my car last year with only minor issues and I expect to put on about the same if not more this year. The engine is a gem although you don't feel the real power come on until 4,000 rpm. It almost feels flat until you hit 4,000 and then it's like turbos come on and kick you in the ass. I feel the pick up is better at 100mph then 60mph. You want to keep the rpm's in the sweet spot when you want to have fun (4,000 - 7,500). The breaks are not great and it was a real shocker when I first drove it. I would love to find a better setup. Best bet is to cut the rotors and get aftermarket hi performance pads. It made a big difference for me. The car seems to run hot (about 85-100 degrees C.) Just keep an eye on the temp on hot days. IF driven properly it will reward you with a truly satisfying and exhilarating experience. One that will take away the stress of the day or the argument with your significant other. The other cars mentioned in this thread are all great cars but a countach is an icon. There has never been anything like it and there will probably never be anything like it ever again. It is a car that was designed not for the everyday person but someone very different. It's a car that was designed with one thing in mind and that was to blow away logical thought as to what a sports car is supposed to be. It is a car that looks arrogant and intimidating. It is a street legal race car from a time of 80's excess. It is a car that only approx. 1,600 lucky people can own. They will not stay at the current price that they are at for long. I looked for a year and looked at a dozen of them before finding mine. Be patient, find the best one you can. You don't want your emotions getting the best of you and you end up with a basket case for a good price. You will end up paying for it in the end. The window of opportunity comes along only once in a while to own something like this. Good luck man. Eric
  6. I do apologize but I feel like this board just dropped down a few notches in the grammar department. LOL
  7. Great shot Dave! I can't wait to see the rest of your pics. When will you be able to post them?
  8. It was a great run to the west coast. Alex, Bill and the gang put together a well organized event once again. Thanks for inviting my co-pilot Shelly. Angie handeled my aggressive driving better then I expected even when we topped 75 mph + 100. John, I hope the damage to your car will result in some trick or updated panels that normally you would think twice about doing under normal circumstances. I really enjoyed the ride back to the east with you. I'll see you this week at your shop. Alex & Shelly it's always great hanging with you. I have always fount it so easy to just chill out and talk with you two. My top speed on the way home was an astonishing 80 mph. Cheers, Eric
  9. I'm sitting here at my computer with my morning coffee knowing that in 3 1/2 hours I will be in the company of lots of exotic muscle! Cheers
  10. It's gonna be a hell of a run. Lots of Lambos. Sorry I haven't been in-touch guys. It's been a busy time in my life. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone and taking down the alley again. Bill, I saw Nicky tending bar down in Mizner last week. After catching up with her we went looking for you Atlantic Ave in Delray. No luck though. Is she coming on the run?
  11. Every time I see that video I get chills....................And then I go down into the garage, turn the key and experience the thrill of Countach ownership all over again.
  12. I thought Speed Racer came out in the 70s? My favorite show growing up.
