Bentley Arnage Final Series

BENTLEY ARNAGE PRODUCTION TO END WITH SPECIAL “FINAL SERIES” MODEL

For ten years now the Arnage has been the four-door flagship over at Bentley, but it’s time is quickly coming to an end. To celebrate the end of an era, Bentley is building 150 “Final Series” models which will take the best of the Arnage T and R models, to deliver unprecedented luxury and performance. Bentley also plans to add a dash of excitement with some styling cues taken from the new Brooklands coupe.

Exterior styling will only be changed slightly with body colored headlamp bezels, blacked-out grilles, 10-inch wheels and dual exhaust pipes. The Final Series model will, however, feature a retractable “Flying B” ornament and will have plenty of “Final Series” badges.

Inside, the vehicle also remains mostly unchanged but receives some gimmicky touches, including a “Final Series” flask and shot glasses, as well as four umbrellas. Proving that even a car with as much old-world charm as an Arnage can also be technologically sophisticated, the Final Series will come with an iPod interface and an optional 1100 watt 10-speaker sound system.

The Arnage Final Series will make use of Bentley’s famous 6.75-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, which in this vehicle will produce a reasonable 500 hp at 4200 rpm and an outrageous 738 ft-lbs of torque at just 3200 rpm! Mated to a six speed automatic ZF gearbox, this is enough motivation to launch the 5,700 lb sedan to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, to 100 mph in 12.1 seconds and to a top seed of 179 mph.

Will this car have a replacement? It would be a shame if it didn't, the Arnage is the most elegant car of its kind.

Yes it will. Bentley has been developing a Phantom killer for the past few years.

A Bentley has always been a car that you can drive yourself or be driven in. Their interiors are excellent but Rolls-Royce is always a clear cut above. The next gen MAY be the Quad turbo 16 cylinder unit from the Veyron at around 850HP. It could be AWD or RWD. They did give the Brooklands 775lb/ft of torque and it's RWD. I'm kind-of excited.

NOt the quad turbo, but they are entertaining the 16 cyl engine. They just have to figure out if they can sell it for as much as they would have to sell it to include that engine and make money. It will be tough to do. They have also entertained the diesel unit from Audi. Twin turbo 12cyl diesel would be amazing!!!

A diesel in a Bentley? What is wrong with you people? Just out of curiosity, have you ever driven a diesel car? If so how can you imagine a tractor sounding engine in one of the most refined luxury vehicles the auto industry has to offer?

Brother, you obviously have not been in ANY of the new diesel stuff that is coming out. Go drive a MB 320 bluetec. Thing is quiet as a church mouse. Have you heard the Audi R10 race car at the track, probably not as it makes next to no noise. They have been thinking of bringing the R8 to the states with the 12cyl twin turbo diesel but have held off due to the fact that it does not make the normal performance car noise. I think the biggest drawback personally would be the fact that you will have to pump diesel and it stinks.

Latest diesel car i had, was a q7 3.0 tdi. You can feel it's a diesel. Also my daily driver now is an Alfa Romeo 2.4 jtd. Diesel is still a diesel... It has no place in a Bentley. I am not refering to noise inside the cabin, new diesels, are quiet, and i am sure Bentley will do a great job with sound insulation but outside it will sound like a tractor no matter what. Open your window when you drive your next diesel, see how it really sounds...

No diesel will ever make the performance car noise...
