norcal2 Report post Posted October 28, 2009 "The P111 model is the rarest of the Urracos, with only 21 built between 1974 - 76" So this is not even worth 15k? it is rough...
Peter K Report post Posted October 29, 2009 Rare because no one wanted it. Only built because of the power restraints imposed by Italy. Low production, yes. Low power, yes. Rough shape, yes. 15K purchase 30-40K resto or more

Rough shape, yes. 15K purchase 30-40K resto or more Peter, i think this is the US model urraco, built for emissions, bumpers and other regulations in US the model built for the italian market was the P200 ( still a SOHC 2 liter engine), it was built for our market since the under 2000 cc.. paid less VAT and taxes VS the over 2000 cc.. (like P250 & P300 models) the P200 was not a big success though, it was quite underpowered (claimed 180 hp or so...less in real life) and they built some 60 or 80 cars i believe a guy i know is restoring one (body repaint and all mecanics ) while he is at it, he had the engine modified to increase performances, with larger pistons, etc... (all the worcks done, the car is costing him some 3 times market value, but as long as he is happy with it, it is all good)
IsleroMan Report post Posted October 30, 2009 Yes, it is the US model, and yes it is also low production because there weren't a lot of buyers lined up for these cars in the mid-70s here in the US. The dealer network sucked, and there was no money in Sant #### to properly develop the cars. Besides, what little money they did have was funneled to the CT. You will never recover your retoration costs on a Urraco, Jalpa, Espada or Jarama, so you are much better off buying the best car available. Still, some people insit on the challenge, so they will spend more money than the car is worth on the restoration. Personally, I'm glad some people will do that, or there would be none of these cars left.
Peter K Report post Posted October 30, 2009 But if you read the questions at the bottom of the auction some relies that what they have there is a Italy-only P200.
Ohlgren Report post Posted October 30, 2009 What about buying the car and driving and enjoying it as is? When it self destructs, sell it as a resto project to someone who wants a project, or part it out. You could enjoy something like this for a little while and sell it off for a minor loss. If no one is going to restore it, why not drive it into the ground, rather than let it rot away without being driven? If it is not worth anything to start with and never will be, why not? OR buy the car and do a budget restoration. Fix the rust and spend several thousand on a respray. Drive it until the motor gives out. In the meantime just make mechanical repairs as they come. Considering what I paid for mine (4th production, in great but not perfect condition) this is way overpriced at US$15,000. Should be around US$10,000-12,
raging soul Report post Posted November 3, 2009 its just another grey market urraco imported to the united states. its a P200 built on a P111-late P300 body/chassis. Nearly all of the P200 came with the usa type bumpers and roll hoop. officially the only 21 of the P111 was certified for sale in the usa by the factory. this p200 is not the rarest at 66 units. i agree you would be upside down in a heart beat at $15K. making mechanical repairs isnt getting any easier with parts availability. all urracos are slow with the exception of the 4 cammers. having said that its still can be a great charismatic ride with stunningly striking design. i hope someone will restore it properly rs

In Europe, it is not a cheap car. In the U.S., a driver starts in or around 18K. The best cars are around 35K. This is for a Euro car. The detuned U.S. cars, bring a little more money, in the U.S. It is pointless to buy a U.S. car. An owner would make a mistake, to take any 930 to a P new car dealer. An independent specialist P shop, would be more familiar with the car vs the dealer.
