Sprite, so how much traffic are you getting so far?

I suggest you integrate a quantcast tag into your site, let it recognize the kind of Audience is visiting your site, then depending on your audience, sign with a few (5-10) ad networks and It can be a very good income source. (rather than google ads)

I use your site often, if you have any questions I can help.

It's not doing much traffic. Around 150 uniques/day.

Blackberry do you have any good ideas how to monetize http://www.amacite.com?

I am doing 1,000-2,500 uniques day on that [1,000 being weekends when no one does homework]

Traffic data is here: http://www.quantcast.com/www.amacite.com

I tried running Adsense but had extremely low eCPM. I just switched to CPA yesterday and it is doing even worse. 8k+ impressions 0 clicks.

I was hoping at least the NetFlix would convert as it pays $24 per conversion, but nothing.

The problem is your unique visitor count. When I sold 3dfiles.com to Ziff Daviz back in 1999, we had 850,000 unique visitors per day. That's ad revenue! Paid for a lot of cars over the last decade. The average price for 1000 pageviews is going to be only a few dollars, like $1-$3-ish. More targeted ads bring more. Netflix pays a lot but they advertise EVERYWHERE so nobody ever really gets conversion $$$ and they get all of the free branding as you just found out.

The problem you'll have with amacite is its a site people come to "do" something, rather than read news etc so unless the ads are targeted, you'll get VERY low conversions or clicks.

I'm not too familiar with AdSense since that came after I got out of the online stuff, but there are sites dedicated to making money with it, in fact some bloggers who blog about adsense make money via it and that's how they survive too. :) Weird eh?

Kinda random thoughts, but hope some of its useful nonetheless.

Here is another site I just put together. Not 100% done yet, but will have it done to a point tonight where I will be able to determine if I am going to spend any more time on it.

http://www.g4m3.net/

It is basically a flash game portal that integrates with twitter [yes I know most people here don't use twitter].

Google has nothing on Stumblepics! SP is way better quality.

As for monetizing these sites, market these sites for growth in interisted audiences,

an example of such is my personal favorite Niche site (similar to stumplepics) http://www.airliners.net/, they have a highly engaged audience of airplanes and aviation. therefore a high conversion rate to their travel ads, and in return more $$$.

If you can somehow grow and market your sites to requirments of ad networks:

http://casalemedia.com/application_requirements/

http://www.burstmedia.com/publisher/eligibility.asp#nogo

http://www.valueclickmedia.com/pub_display...fications.shtml

http://www.tribalfusion.com/SmartPublisher...quirements.html

and of course apply to 5-10 networks, You've got some online $$.

all in all, monetizing on the internet is all about what kind of engaged audience you can withhold on your site.

hope that helps,

  • 6 months later...

Spent a few hours today on this site.

Massively increased the speed of initial search. This should make the site 100x more usable.

Also fixed a few bugs that were causing the site to crash ever so often when stumbling pictures. Give it a try and let me know if you run into any issues.

I am thinking I should move tags to left sidebar now that they are actually usable with how quick it pulls up images.
