q8ylambo Report post Posted June 3, 2011 Audi has revealed this lightweight, high performance GT version of its R8 Spyder. Power from its 5.2-litre V10 engine has been increased from 518bhp to 552bhp, its 0-62mph time has been cut to 3.8sec and its top speed has been increased to 197mph. A six-speed R tronic transmission is standard. See the pics of the Audi R8 GT Spyder Audi has also slashed 85kg from the all-wheel drive R8 Spyder’s kerb weight to 1640kg in the GT, mainly with the adoption of cabronfibre for some body panels, the modified front spoiler, fixed rear spoiler and new rear bumper. Styling changes include add-on parts in titanium grey, a dual lip front splitter, a revised front bumper, red GT badges, round exhaust tailpipes, an enlarged rear diffuser and dark LED taillights behind clear glass. Read Autocar's first drive of the Audi R8 GT coupe The all-black interior is where the most drastic weight saving has taken place; the addition of new bucket seats saved 31.5kg on their own. Like the GT version of the coupe before it, production of the Audi R8 GT Spyder will be capped at 333 units, around 10 per cent of which are likely to be sold in the UK. http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/257492/

Assman Report post Posted June 11, 2011 how much more for the GT? The U.S. cars’ equipment and options haven’t been finalized, but we do know that 90 or fewer examples of the Spyder will be offered in this country. We expect pricing of this now-top-of-the-line R8 to be commensurately range-topping: figure on around $40K more than the R tronic 5.2 Spyder’s base price of $176,150. And, with the added power and weight removal, look for a 0-to-60-mph time of about 3.6 seconds. Roughly $216,000k to start. HannibalACP82 Report post Posted June 13, 2011 I love tasteful wings on cars. That being said very few drop tops can pull of the look. I just can't seem to like the look of this or the Preformante. I like the way it looks from the side but it just looks off from the side. The Diablo Roadsters and the wing Jpegs put on his Murci Roadster are amazing though. I can't figure it out. Destructo Report post Posted June 23, 2011 I drove a new R8 Spyder in this color with the 4.2 and to be honest, really liked the car. Sounded great with the top down, a visceral experience for those Audi lovers who lust for this car.
TRANSAMERA Report post Posted June 23, 2011 One for the ladies...or Slowpoke Nice car, but anyone would drive it with 200 miles opened? I've done 300km/h + several times with the top down, makes you think wtf you're doing.. I drove a new R8 Spyder in this color with the 4.2 and to be honest, really liked the car. Sounded great with the top down, a visceral experience for those Audi lovers who lust for this car. Yeah, but the R8 with V8 sucks, it really has to have the V10 to be the "supercar" it is..
