RedGTS Report post Posted October 23, 2012 This is pretty cool, if it gets produced. It uses a sensor in the plate frame to detect the camera flash and then triggers its own flashes quickly enough to overexpose the picture and make the plate unreadable. I've never thought the photoelectric plate covers that can go opaque with the flip of a switch were of much use, because they're either on or off. You can't drive around with your plate obscured all the time, and if you have to remember to turn it on every time you go through a camera you could just as easily remember to slow down briefly (or not "run" the redlight). This setup solves that problem and only works when you need it to. I doubt I would buy one just because there aren't very many cams in my area, but if I lived in an area where they were more common it might be nice. Hope they produce it though as anything that is bad for the cam tax collectors is a good thing IMO. NoPhoto
Placid Report post Posted October 23, 2012 Considering how much a Lamborghini get's photographed, having this would be a lot of fun While most traffic cams still uses flash, new ones are infrared thus rendering this useless though. RedGTS Report post Posted October 23, 2012 They are shit and do not work. You sure we're talking about the same thing? The company I linked to hasn't started production of these yet. Someone else could have, but just wanted to make sure you weren't talking about the spray on plate blocker crap or something else. Some variations of the concept have been around on the market in Europe especially the UK for years and they do not work. I think you are under estimating how much light would be needed to make a photo unusable and how much power and how big it needs to be. The info on their site says they use xenon strobes and the demo of it firing looks pretty bright, but I have no idea if it works as intended. sk24iam Report post Posted October 24, 2012 just got a speeding ticket the other day from a camera. there are so many in the washington dc area, this would come in handy if it actually works. I'll have to checkout some reviews when their product is released.
Juice it Report post Posted October 24, 2012 I have the escort that gps detects red light and speed cameras and it works great. More than paid for itself by now. Now if my wife would get off the damn phone and quit getting these tickets in the same damn spots all would be good!
