THEY ATE PEOPLE... Did ya ever see the movie "The Ghost And The Darkness"? Thats a true fcuking story. In 1898 just TWO male lions killed between 35 and 140 people in Kenya... Heres the deal... As is the way of the world in the 21st century, Africa, is being taken over by Africans.... Ive mentioned this before, but these apex/ "big 5/7" animals are a giant fcuking pain in the ass if the dolly do-rights of the world ever actually thought about having to live near the mother fuckers. They require huge amounts of land and food to survive, and they can be incredibly destructive if left to their own devices.. If there were no incentives to keep them alive, the answer would be simple- Kill them all off and get on to building schools and hospitals and housing that Africans so desperately need, rather than worry about your mom getting eaten by a lion, or your entire villages' crops getting wiped out in the middle of the night by a bull elephant with the munchies... So we incentivize them to set huge portions of their land off as reserves so that they DONT exterminate them the way we do a nuisance wasp nest or ant hill, but the animals inside those reserves still have to be managed. You leave your mudhut to take a leak at night and nobody ever sees you again, who do your relatives complain to? And what would the response be? "we live in Africa... Thats what happens." The Tsavo incident became famous because it interrupted a western business venture and it involved so many victims it couldnt be ignored. I've sometimes wondered if the world would be better if they were just killed off altogether. They are mean animals that will kill anything, including innocent deer, zebras, etc...they aren't predators, so they don't do it for food. If you go into their waters, you'd better be in a big enough boat because otherwise they'll come and turn the boat over on you. I read one man had his wife bitten in half by a hippo.
