  1. As a previous owner of an ’84 Cab (cable clutch and all), I agree 100%. For me though this example doesn't carry over to a Countach/Aventador comparison. If an early 80’'s 911 gave me a thrill just looking at it, or turning the key, then maybe. But in truth an early 80’'s 911 is just an old 911. I’'d never consider a Countach just an old Aventador, just like I wouldn’t consider a 300SL an old SLR. That's why I say buy both…!
  2. I tried that, and either they weren’t available or the people behind the counter were a bunch of morons.
  3. Same here. The new cars are nice, but outside of great AC and the ability to conduct business meetings via bluetooth on the way to work there's no sense of pure driving experience. They look nice when new sure, but in 10 years today's modern cars will just be old newer cars like the 360 & 430. Nice but outdated, with limited character.
  4. Found a great source for relays Texas Industrial Electric: http://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/relays.asp Talk to Sherrie No affiliation other than being a happy customer. 0332-019-151 (supersedes 0332-014-151) 0332-209-150 (supersedes 0332-204-150) 0332-209-151 (supersedes 0332-204-151) $9.75 ea . Received in two days I have yet to find a direct replacement for the Italamec fuel pump relay (S in the book). This is essentially a 0332-019-151 with a fuse on the top. Hella makes one but I don’t trust their parts. The KAE fuel pump timer relay 3.304.100 cross reference # is 12 63 1 277 245, popular on BMW’s, is about $35 on ebay. Next on the list is the Italamec 70A 384 Larry
  5. One owner, low mileage, all original, can’t ask for much more than that. $5K or so to remove/replace the DOT bumpers and get rid of that 25th shift knob and it would be good to go. Why hasn’t it sold? IMO it’s overpriced by $100K.
  6. 50% there w/the 328 which runs on one bank of the CT's FI
  7. So I'm gone for a few weeks and this is what happens?! Congratulations Alberto on you next adventure. I've learned a lot reading your posts over the years. You're a true enthusiast. If you're ever in California look me up. You're more than welcome to take my car out for a spin. Sorry it's white, FI, and has skirts, but hopefully you can over look that
  8. Isn't it strange that they advertise a RHD car in the UK in MILES?
  9. ^^^ maybe, but for the pure enjoyment of the drive and sound I wouldn't over think it. Regardless of the year any CT is great to look at, drive & share, and will always be the topic of discussion at the local cars & coffee which to me is much more fun than trailering in or paranoid driving that perfect example for a wine & cheese party In a way I don't want them to go up in value too fast. I'd be too scared to drive it.
  10. Congratulations, excellent choice. I have a 328 also, purchased with less that 6K miles several years back. Love that car. In fact it gets treated the best even thought it's the least valuable car in the stable... maybe because it was my first real dream. There's nothing like owning and being able to compare both the CT and 328 side by side. Love it!
  11. I compared the new & old systems side by side and definitely saw a difference. Granted the systems are old and it could have been more about the state of the systems than design, but the newer 88.5 system had much more air flow. Having the electronic "controls" I’m not sure I like them as much. There’s a temp sensor that’s prone to quirkiness, and the fan & temp buttons take a proper touch to scowl through without jumping. + I like the look of the mechanical controls better too. In CA I'll take better AC any day. As with the diablo’s, it’s common for some to put in a manual compressor on/off switch.
  12. Catching up on this thread. Yes, that was Ken & QV. Here’s another one. Because I spent years looking specifically for an 88.5 I collected a lot of data.
  13. .... or high valued. If there’s any truth in these numbers then Albert’s car should sell immediately. I wish him luck, kinda (selling will be bitter/sweet)... The problem with inflating prices is that the cars will no longer be driven, or they’ll be driven in fear. 10 years ago I’d see 288 GTOs & pantina’ed Dinos every other week at Cars & Coffee. 20 years ago you’d even see an occasional 300SL, definitely a rundown 190SL. Now nothing. In a way I don’t want the CT to go the way of the GTO’s, Dino’s or now the BB’s. I don’t plan to change my driving habits, and it certainly won’t materially change my net worth, but what it will do is make me a little more paranoid when going for a Sunday drive and having to pass a cement truck on the freeway.
  14. My last renewal notice from Heacock, underwritten by American Modern Insurance Group, for the same agreed upon value went up $0. When I increased the agreed upon value, as a % of the policy cost it went up almost linearly to the increase in value.
  15. You might be referring to these Ken. I snapped these screenshots years ago. I hope this is not a no no...
  16. Funny how all of these great vids are now now considered classics and oldies. When I think of oldies I still think of the 50's. Guess we're the oldies now
  17. Just bought a set yesterday, received a phone call in 30 min., then a shipping notice a couple hours later. Rear date codes late 2012, fronts 2013.
  18. I have a copy. It actually has some stuff in it not found in any other manual. Calls out CO2 adjustments for FI, the temperature settings for the fan thermostats, cooling diagrams, and more. The funniest section is on how to replace the starter motor without removing the engine. Makes it sound like an hour job. I will pdf it for you guys tomorrow. I also have a pdf of a 25th Maint Manual that I got from a fellow owner with a different cover but it has some footer data on it and may not be exactly the same. Larry
  19. That's got to be hard on the cats (if there's anything left).
  20. Not surprising considering the information out there on this car. Most of it boils down to crappy body/paint work, hack mechanic(s), and deferred maintenance.
  21. Well said. I know two owners that will not be going to Concorso because of this type of BS. Personally I have mixed feelings. On one hand I tell them who gives a $hit what people say, on the hand there IS a crowd that seems to get a kick out of being the first to point out an imperfection. It's too bad...
  22. Here's an answer that shouldn't offend anyone, except for the buyer: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lamborghini...#ht_1270wt_1021
  23. If you have the clearance they do make some pretty beefy long throw heavy magnet 4 inchers, as compared to std 4". Check out MB Quart. The problem may be the dome tweeter protrusion.
