  1. Hi MKS, speak to kevin about stage 3 with race heads running 62 mm turbos. I have these on my LP stage 3 with raceheads and power comes on at 4000 rpm. I also make 1275rwhp with MS109. your stage 3 will be very track friendly running on pump gas on lowest setting with 800rwhp, I can assure you. If you take a brave pill you can track at 1150rwhp on pump. Only 'disadvantage' of the smaller turbos on stage 3 is that you cannot upgrade to 1R. To go to a 1R you do need the 67's plus billet manifold and billet gearbox etc. From one of Kevins recent posts, I believe he favours the 1R as the ultimate UR street version. You can always use the lowest boost setting and be very streetable. Leo is certainly a fan of the 1 R and I know Leo will never argue about not having enough power!!! just my two cents worth after street and strip driving my stage 3 after 25,000 miles (40,000kms). Whatever you choose, kevin and the team will see you right. cheers, john
  2. Certainly the case here in Australia. Also any mods have to be approved by the state department of motor vehicles as being properly engineered to make insurance valid in event of a claim. I don't know if that is the case in the US. Remember insurance companies will give you an umbrella on a sunny day and take it away when it is rains! just my two cents worth, cheers, john
  3. Hi Martin, you have probably already googled this up, but as this is an Audi valve train system, a good explanation at this site: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0013 A P0013 code refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module) or ECM (engine control module). VVT is a technology used in the engine to allow it to get greater power or efficiency at different running points. That consists of an oil control valve (OCV), also called a solenoid valve and other components. This source says it best: The camshaft position (CMP) actuator is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM) through a high control circuit and a low reference circuit. The high control circuit carries a 12 volt pulse width modulated (PWM) signal from the PCM to the CMP actuator solenoid in order to control the amount of engine oil flow to the cam phaser. The low reference circuit is used as a return circuit. The PCM has the ability to monitor the functionality of the high control and the low reference circuit. If the PCM detects an open, a short to ground, or a short to voltage, DTC P0013 sets. A code P0013 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: •Faulty oil control valve (OCV) •Open or short in the OCV / solenoid valve •Damaged computer (PCM) Possible Solutions Ideally you'll want to refer to a factory service manual for make & model specific steps and specifications. You should use a digital volt ohm meter (DVOM) and measure the resistance of the terminals on the camshaft oil control valve (OCV). Refer to the factory spec on the reading, if it's not good, replace the OCV assembly. Also use the DVOM to verify wiring, connectors, etc. leading from the OCV back to the PCM. This is also a handy site: http://www.troublecodes.net/pcodes/p0013/ I would suspect that if the OCV or /solenoid valve is faulty, then the camshaft timing might not be advancing as much as it should as the engine rpm rise, so logically you would expect some loss of power. I would suggest have a lambo dealer/indie mechanic check the voltages with a Lara scan. If the problem is mechanical, then the offending part can be replaced without pulling the engine out of the car. While the cam cover is off also check all the cam/water/oil pump chain tensioner guides as they can wear. Just my two cents worth. cheers, john
  4. Hi Kevin/KC and the team, Congratulations. A very proud record indeed! cheers, john
  5. Kevin, you will have to keep changing your signature to keep up with these new records! Oh well, "a first world problem"! cheers, john
  6. Congratulations to Gidi and UR.!! I tips me hat to all involved- driver/owner/car builder! 250.27mph just broke the 400km/hr mark at 402.8 km/hr! fantastic result. cheers, john
  7. Hi Fortis, sorry to see that ding on your trunk lid It looks like a sharp edged bit of basalt aggregate/stone hit your trunk lid from the look of the tear in the film. That's the geologist coming out in me:) I don't think any brand of film would stop that. On one of my drives to Sydney from Perth, a bit of rock fell off a truck I was following and put a small dent in the trunk lid, but virtually no damage to the Xpel film. The rock must have had a rounded shape. Dealer did a dentless removal and you could hardly tell where the dent was afterwards on the trunk lid and on the film. I am currently having my Grigio Lynx LP paint corrected, then suntek filmed and then glass coated with 22PLE VX1 PRO Glass Coating by Benzene Detailing here in Perth, in preparation for a trip to the snowy mountains on 1-3 May 2016 with David Thomas of Driving Adventures. - pic attached. http://autohaushamilton.com.au/news/events...ns-1-3-may-2017 In preparation for the treatment underway, I peeled off the old xpel film (3 years old). The trick to pulling off the film to minimise adhesive sticking to the original paint and clear told to me by Yusree who will apply the suntek film, is to pull the film off , pulling it off away from you. So stand behind the film and pull it up so it comes off in the direction you are facing. I just had my XKE go through the process, but no film, just paint correction and glass coating and I must say looks great. The glass coating really makes the paint pop.- pic attached Apologies for the quality of the pics. just my two cents worth. cheers, john
  8. I would have to add that I am running a twin turbo setup, so you would expect heat to be generated in the rear part of the engine bay. With all the heat tape wrapping on every hot component associated with the exhaust and turbo system, engine bay temp usually sits around 44 deg C. cheers, john
  9. Hi Stoleit, you can buy from lambo stuff. p/n 400803615. I just spray canned it fluorescent orange so stands out. For events, I also remove the tow hook cover completely by squeezing the diamond shape plastic that holds it in place as I have lost a couple of tow hook covers in sprints at 327 km/hr/203 mph. <a href="https://www.please check with our franchised lamborghini dealer sponsors.com/product.asp?prid=20799&Mode=add" target="_blank">https://www.please check with our franchised lamborghini dealer sponsors.com/product.asp?prid...99&Mode=add</a> I also had the gap between the bumper and bonnet reduced a little by adjustment. cheers, john
  10. Hi Stoleit, love the look of your car. I was looking at fitting the revozsport engine cover, but have put a hold on it for now. I did fit the oem Lamborghini FLII bumper upgrade for 2014 LP560-4- pics attached. A perfect fit. The 'admirers' at Racewars 2017 800 and 1000 metre sprint seemed to like it! I have kept my front spoiler lip and struts gloss black for the squarda corse look as you have. cheers, john
  11. Hi dirty, Thanks. What a stable of UR beasts!!!! you must have shares in UR by now lol. cheers, john
  12. Hi forum members, driving back and forward across Australia to compete in half mile and 1000metre sprints, I am beginning to feel like 'The Driver" in that cult road movie "Two -Lane Blacktop". lol. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-Lane_Blacktop But loving it! cheers, john
  13. Hi Dustin, thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated, especially coming from the king of the roll-on hit- the brake boost champ!! Look forward to seeing you in action in your R8 UR TT when you get it rolling. cheers, john
  14. Hello John, Congratulations! You are killing it! I really like the bumpers and wheels upgrade
  15. Hi DirtyD916, Yes, I upgraded the front and rear bumpers with the factory oem upgrade Bumper Kit FL ii style package.-p/n OR9900005. These are the front and rear bumpers on the last of the Gallardo LP560-4 - the 2014 model. The front bumper is the same as the squadra corse model.- STS My lambo dealer purchased the style pack kit from the factory for US$8,200 Factory would not sell bumpers separately as I originally only wanted to change the rear bumper. Maybe other vendors can buy the rear and front separately. The look of the front STS bumper is growing on me as doesn't look so 'busy' as the all body colour bumper and spoiler IMHO. Local exotic car panel shop Lombardi Bros did a great job assembling, painting and fitting the front and rear bumpers. Once assembled, painted and installed, front and rear bumpers were a perfect fit. If you buy the upgrade kit, warn the panel shop that it is an Ikea like flat pack and has to be assembled before installation, so very useful if the panel shop knows how the Gallardo front and rear bumpers go together The colour of my lambo is grigio lynx, paint code LZ7S. With the gloss style pack, the front bumper spoiler lip is black as per the STS. You can paint all the front bumper the body colour as well so looks very much like the attached pic The paint match to the rest of the front of the car is pretty good, but in certain light angles you can see some difference. Not helped by the xpel film on the rest of the front, but not yet on the bumper. Always hard to match metallic paints of different ages. Of course, to the average bystander, they cant tell the difference between a pre-LP, LP and 2014 LP. Apologies for the ramble. cheers, john
  16. Hi Forum members, Last weekend I drove my 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 egear Stage 3 UR from home in Perth Western Australia south down to Albany ~260 miles and then after the event drove it back home another 350 miles for a roundtrip of 610 miles. At Albany, I competed in the Racewars 2017 event with some 150 cars competing. Most of the really high powered cars were trailered to the event. The lambo ran well, a tribute to the UR engineering of my street car stage 3 with race heads. As posted previously, the lambo had just returned from being driven to the Snowy Mountains 1000 event over east, a drive around Tasmania and drive back to Perth, covering a distance of 7,200 miles. I must confess that before driving down to Albany, I did change the engine oil , front diff and reardiff/gearbox oil, air filters, installed a new set of spark plugs and set of Toyo R888R's all round. At the race track, conditions were ok at 25 degC, other than headwind of 12-15 mph on both days! Of the 150 cars competing, all from Western Australia, the majority were street cars running on pump gas or E85. I ran with VP MS109 - 1275rwhp. On the Saturday 4th March, lambo ran the fastest 800 metre (half mile) roll on at 190mph from the 100 metre mark to the 800 metre mark. On the Sunday, lambo ran the fastest 800 metre (half mile) standing start at 196 mph. On Sunday, managed to squeak into first place in the standing start 1000 metres by 0.4 mph at 201.92 mph to be Grand Champion V max. As I am running oem gearing, I hit the rev limiter in 6th right after crossing the finishing line. Also 1st awd, 1st turbo car and 1st greater than 8 cylinder class. Everyone at the event was amazed at the reliability and consistent speeds and times the lambo ran in the 800 metres and the 1000 metres- 12 passes in all. In the 1000 metre standing start event on Sunday afternoon, I made five passes at 201/200/202/201/200 mph. Comments were made that the lambo had to be the fastest legal street car in Australia over 800 and 1000 metres. Braking distance was ok but still a challenge and I am trying to convince the organisers of the event to switch to Vmax for 800 metres ( half mile) and drop the 1000 metres. The lambo also attracted its fair share of admirers-see pics. I also must have had over the two days of the event a hundred kids sit in the drivers seat while in the pits. This was the first time that the Racewars event was held in Albany. A very professionally run event and tribute to the organisers and volunteers. We only had to stop racing on the runway a couple of times to let a Royal Flying Doctor Medivac plane land. If you want to kill time, you can also read about the event on the Racewars 2017 facebook https://www.facebook.com/racewarsau/ There is a video of my 800 metre run on Saturday 4 March at 4 march 3:09pm post. The lambo features at 5 March 6:22pm post and a video of one of my 1000 metre runs at 5 March 2:22pm post. On the way back to Perth, youngest daughter Sarah visiting from UK, drove the lambo. She commented it was very fast ,but so easy to drive. As usual , once you had your fill of the lambo engine and tyres aural experience, we both donned noise cancelling headphones!!! Again, the reliability, consistent performance and ease which the car can be driven as a street car is a tribute to the UR engineering of my stage 3 with race heads.. Love this car! Enough rambling- level of competition was junior high school grade relative to WGF, TI, etc, but all good fun!!! cheers, john ps more astute observers will see that I upgraded the front and rear bumpers with the factory oem upgrade Bumper Kit FL ii style package.-p/n OR9900005.
  17. Hi GQ, if you do remove the heat shield, make sure you completely wrap the exhaust system with titanium heat tape, so heat does not crisp your rear bumper and wiring! I have also gone one step further and completely shielded all of the inside of the bumper and diffuser with the following adhesive heat shield. http://www.jegs.com/i/DEI/186/010399/10002/-1 Call me paranoiac, but no crispy bumper, fittings and wiring for me!! Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and paid dearly for it!! just my two cents worth. cheers, john
  18. Hi Leo, very nice photo of the beast. And that is a spectacular looking ficus tree! cheers, john
  19. Hi Leo, great car and that Verde Ithica really pops!! If I could have bought a LP Superleggera, it would have received the same UR treatment as my LP560-4. UR Stage 3 with race heads is the best for the street. Stay safe my friend. cheers, john
  20. Hi Fortis, a lot off topic. did a uniworld land and river cruise as part of ticking off the bucket list . lol. Fantastic land cruise portion living like a maharajah in the best Oberoi hotels in New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur!! Then saw more of 'real India' on a seven day cruise up the Ganges. Then capped it off with visit to Varanasi. Talk about land of extremes from poverty to wealth. Crazy traffic and didn't see many lambos. Land cruise certainly worth doing. The river cruise and Varanasi can be a little confronting if you are not used to or haven't seen Asian poverty- wealth extremes before, as I have. cheers, john
  21. Hi Fortis, I agree. Luckily for me I am in pension mode-just a pensioner with a seniors card- and bought my lambo with tax free super. TT mods also paid with tax free super! Of course, they are changing the rules, so next lambo will not be tax free:( Having just come back from two weeks in India, I do like your statement: That's what you get for living in a country the size of the USA with the population of a small Indian village. cheers, john
  22. Hi Plastique999, Indeed! The run down through the infamous corkscrew would be a challenge for a TT! I went to the track in my UR TT, but couldn't get on it that day for a drive. probably lucky for me! cheers, john
  23. Hi Fortis, Thank you for your comment. Just telling it how it was. I forgot to mention that we were running R888's properly warmed up on the track and I also had the R888's on the car driving around Tasmania. The race driver controlled the car very well as I said with the R888's. My control on the track at 1150rwhp, even with R888's, was how would you say politely - very sub optimal!!! I would never try the track with big power on street tyres -that would be suicide! cheers, john
  24. Hi LPdaddy, thank you for your posts. Much appreciated. I agree with the points you have made. From my own real world experience with my UR stage 3 tt, at our local track, i asked a very experienced race driver to take me for a couple of fast laps around the track- barbagallo raceway, Perth- so I could feel as a passenger how the car went. We were running the 1150rwhp tune, no traction control. He made it look easy- no drama, car hooked up well on turns, no sliding, insane speed down the straight-240km/hr. As a passenger, a touch scary for me- eek! He did comment that chassis felt it was at its limit with this much power, getting some front end lift over rises and needed bigger brakes than the 390 mm Alcons. He also advised don't try this at home to me. Even though this track is a power track, he said about 600 rwhp is really all you needed to drive fast and be comfortable and put in respectable lap times. So I then took the car around the track at 1150 rwhp, spun out on the third turn with a 'wtf just happened"!! -eek. I then drove the rest of the day on the track with the 'valet' 800 rwhp tune and felt a lot more relaxed with no drama and a lot more comfort. Lap times not super fast, as I am no race car driver by any stretch of the imagination, but at least at the valet mode tune, I felt like the car was not trying to kill me! On my recent drive around Tasmania with the Lamborghini Club of Australia, driving on Targa Tasmania roads, the drive was quite comfortable and not too scary at the 800-1000rwhp setting. The 1150rwhp setting is way too much for the road IMHO. But I do like the half mile and 1000 metre sprints, and the high speeds that can be achieved safely in a straight line at 1275 rwhp -200mph+ are a buzz! I concur with Fortis that street racing is a no-no as innocents should never suffer. In my callow youth, this wisdom eluded me! I do love my UR tt car:) just my two cents worth, cheers, john
