  1. I was in your spot for years. 2 car garage... Moved 4 years go to a wonderful town just north of Austin. House had a barn..now I have room for 10 cars. Thanks for your response. Money wise I did a little shopping. When a SV Roadster comes for sale they seem to sell for $40k over list....and falling. That would put the all-in price of a SV Roadster in the mid $500k range. Not sure what my 14 Aventador Roadster is worth. I bet the Huracan Performante I have on order will cost in the very low $300s. Money wise I maybe better off getting the SV Roadster vs the H-P and keeping my 14. When you have 10 cars (and you will if you are crazy enough...) the way to look at the cost is adding the annual projected depreciation + insurance cost. I own all my cars, but if you have debt against them add in the interest. Some of my cars are appreciating and 1 appreciated by more than double vs what I paid (89 Porsche 911 Speedster). Anyway...back to enjoying this rainy non-car day!
  2. The sport seats are brutal. Same seats I believe that were in the 570-SL. If not the *same* seats I bet they are made by the same company..Sparco. The sport seats DO look amazing. I bet that non-sport seat cars will take a hit in resell. This car should have sport seats as the fit the cars mission. I will order mine with the sport seats knowing I will hate them after about 30 mins. Someone needs to come out with a sport seat pad...
  3. Hi, Look at SV Roadster prices. Most are in the $500k range. I have a 2014 Aventador Roadster....ordered a H-Performante. Considering the SV vs owning both of the others. Opinions? Austin
  4. Considering you OWN a SV it would of been surprising if that hadn't been your observation. Confirmation bias. I have a Aventador Roadster. Its maybe worth $375k Is the difference between a SV Roadster vs my car worth $200k? Is the SV $200k better? To some yes. To be, couldn't be.
  5. this may help you... I had a: 348 07 Gallardo 11 Gallardo SL 458 Spider 328 GTSi 2016 Viper ACR Many Porsches...GT3, GT3 RS NONE even remotely compare to the Aventador Roadster that I have now. In the past I would get the car and then after a short period of time my mind would start thinking about 'whats next'. Since the Aventador came out I have always wanted to get one. I couldn't rationalize $500k+. Waited a bit and picked one up used with almost no miles. With the Aventador there really is no comparison. As much as I too love Ferrari there are no Ferraris other than their hyper cars that compares.
  6. 100% sure that would be too much car for me. Beyond gorgeous car.
  7. Hi Guys, Downsizing my search from a Aventador to a Superleggera Performante. Had a new 570 SL in 2011. Loved it. Any colors except black. Please PM me (or post links here) if you have any leads. Thanks!
  8. Thank you for your reply. Read it twice I am going to make offers $40k off asking..maybe $50k. The cars I am interested in have been sitting. There are 3-4 that would fit the bill perfectly. If one says no I will just move on. If they all say no I will wait a few months for the market to come to me. Looking is half the fun. Again, thanks for your thoughtful response. Being nosey, what did you replace your Vent with? Did you cash out or buy something else?
  9. Hey guys, Hoping to buy a Roadster over the next few months. 2014/ 15. Any colors other than black considered. I am going to take my time and do this right. I know this is a depreciating thing and that doesn't bother me. Is what it is. What is perplexing is understanding the market. 4000 have been sold since launch with at least half being sold in the US (best guess). Of the 4000 around 1200 were Roadsters. There are nearly 100 Aventadors for sale at present based on searches using the usual sites. 20 Roadsters. $429-$500k for Roadsters. There is a Roadster for sale privately for the high $300s. That seems like a lot of unsold used cars. As SV deliveries pick up there will probably be more pre-owned coming for sale. How long will it take the market to buy up the existing inventory of cars...months and months based on what I am seeing. What would you guys expect the discount off asking price to be?
  10. There are far too many for sale at present. Its realistic to expect that more will come for sale as the SV deliveries ramp up. Prices will fall. Todays wholesale is tomorrows retail. I bet the spread from whole sale to retail in todays market is $40k.
  11. A 2012 listed by a dealer for $335 (or whatever) would whole sale for $40k less? I bet his friend sold it to him for what the dealer offered... I am not so sure this isn't the true market vs an outlier.
  12. I am working on getting a Roadster soon. Been watching the market. 'Slow' is the best word to describe it. I have seen literally zero roadster sales in the last 60 days. I am sure there had to have been 2-3 sales somewhere..just not seeing it. It feels like there is a price drop coming. That has what has kept me motivated to keep my powder dry. I am betting that late summer, early fall we will see a market adjustment of minus 10%+. There is also every reason to believe that there will be an Aventador v2.0 announced or a replacement. As you guys know the total planned production is rounding the bend. Lambo CEO has actually stated that they are coming to the end of the projected production run. Of course, I am a buyer so I want prices to fall. When I get one I will probably be on this site posting how the prices will never fall
  13. Thinking more on this...there was the software update that made the exhaust sound better in 2014? That too can be updated for $2500 at your local dealer.
  14. Buying used you have to factor in previous use...largely unknown. So the PO could of driven it hard and the extended warranty could save you from having to pay for his use. What does the $10k cover? Can you research that and share the results? I would go to the dealer and ask them if the policy being offered covers the usual big ticket items and if they would accept it.
  15. I asked a dealer this question. The answer was virtually nothing. Warranty mostly. If you are after a coupe vs roadster there are 12s out there for less than $300k. There were changed to software that can be added to the earlier cars.
  16. Love this thread. Honest advice with little ego. There is no right rule with justifying exotic cars. I have used cars as my motivation. If I didn't have a car I was pining away for I am sure our net worth would be less. I use them as the award for accomplishing certain goals. That works, for me. Flip side are the guys who buy these cars on leverage. They don't make millions or have yet to achieve a high net worth. Its easy to judge these types as putting the cart before the horse. I disagree. If you are young-ish ad you can somehow afford a $400k+ car I say GO FOR IT. Yes, it will be at the cost of other things in most cases. Who cares. If some dude buys a Aventador when he is 30 (financed or whatever) there is an excellent chance he will work his ass off to keep it. Going forward he will have a taste for success and the knowledge he can accomplish anything he sets his mind to. I am 45 and have been mostly financially conservative. I too can't fully enjoy a toy unless its paid for. Makes me feel like a faker as others have stated. (Perhaps those of us who think this way are too hard on ourselves.) The rules I set for myself were that I could splurge on a (financially stupid) car once: Note: financially stupid means buying something you KNOW you will lose money on. We do have other cars that have appreciated which softens the blow. 2010 GT3RS, 1989 911 Speedster, 1988 Ferrari 328 and a few others. We bought those right and all have appreciated. Nice unexpected bonus. - House was paid off..check. - 529s fully funded...check. - Retirement was funded (paid off rentals)..check. - Steaks in the freezer for a rainy day...check. - Businesses were solid and little chance for a drop in revenue..check. - 7 streams of income each producing enough to cover our personal overhead..check (truth, I only have 6) NOW, Aventador Roadster time. No financing. Hope this helps!
  17. still less than 4000 cars globally. Nice to know its 'rare' by modern definitions. Ferrari made 20k+ 458s...
  18. Hi Guys, Quick questions: 1) Roadsters pricing. Am I correct that the used prices are about the same as the cost of a new one? Base price is $442 and the pre-owned are basically priced the same. What gives? 2) Total Aventador production. I am reading 4000. Is that correct? 3) Total Roadster production? I read 500...is that correct? 4) Wait time if I were to order one? BTW, I did email 2 dealers and neither replied. I will need to call. Thanks guys!
  19. I too am considering an Aventador. The market is very strange. Seems like there are 20-25 for sale across the US with no sales. The early cars seem to sit the longest. Not sure if I want to bite the bullet and go new or wait out for a used car that checks the boxes. Has anyone recently bought a used Aventador who cares to share they buying experience and market knowledge?
