  1. I believe most of the inside cars were there by request from the Motorclassica committee. The goal was to get a timeline of cars from across the company's history so the inside vehicles were picked with that in mind. Several of the cars were from the local dealer. The outside display was organised by the Lambo club, open to any members regardless of model.
  2. I was chatting to the owner about that car - apparently many years ago he tried unsuccessfully to squeeze it between two trees at around 230kph (about 140mph) and pretty much destroyed the chassis. When it was rebuilt he had the bodywork widened slightly from the original and obviously used some different body panels here and there. The yellow was a respray also, though I can't remember what he said was the original colour.
  3. Forgive the crappy pics compared to those earlier in the thread - I was relegated to the outside area of the show with the rest of the 'B-List' cars...
  4. As I'm sure anyone who has met him will attest, Valentino Balboni is an absolutely great bloke. I could not imagine a more genuine ambassador for the brand, even in semi-retirement. Of course the highlight of my weekend at Motorclassica was having him sign my Balboni Gallardo.
  5. Thanks all for your feedback. Looks like my car will be sold with the SL wing still fitted so I'll live with the standard wing on the Balboni for a while before deciding if I need to buy a new SL wing for the new car.
  6. Thanks Will - I have seen your email (thanks) and replied.
  7. Thanks! It's an 05 Gallardo in Nero Osiris and originally delivered with silver Cassiopeas. I bought another set of Cassiopeas and had them painted black, added the LP570 bumper and SL wing (from SP Engineering here on the forum), and had a vinyl wrap done in a colour we've called Verde Campo di Fieno.
  8. G'day all, Does anyone have any pics of an LP550 Balboni with a Superleggera wing fitted? I've got an '05 G at the moment which has an LP570 front bumper and the SL-style carbon wing and I've fallen in love with the more aggressive look of the rear end with the wing installed. I'm thinking seriously about upgrading to a Balboni but the rear of that car just looks a bit plain now that I'm used to the wing. I've been trying to find pics on the net but it doesn't seem anyone has gone down this path with a Balboni. I'm not sure if the wing would look out of place without the coloured stripes that cover the rest of the car? If anyone has any pics of this combination (even better if they're Verde Ithaca) I'd be very keen to see them. Thanks!
  9. The new owners took over from the Smiths around 12 months ago - the notification email went out to customers of the dealership at the same time as the Christmas party invite in November 2011. 3 key customer facing staff (the 2 sales managers and the service manager) left within the next few months. I don't know jack about running a car dealership, but that Christmas party was the first and last time I ever really heard from the new owners or their staff. Once those 2 sales managers left the regular email newsletter communications stopped, as did the invites to drive days, social functions and the like. Twice during the last 6 months someone from the dealership called me to 'check my email address' but heaven only knows what they did with that information as it certainly wasn't used to send me an email. Like Fortis, I had to push and push to get them to even acknowledge the recall to my Gallardo - there was certainly no communication from either the dealership (which is where I purchased the car) or Lamborghini Australia to let me know of that issue. Like I said, I don't know a thing about running a car dealership, but I would have thought talking to your existing customers would make a mighty good start when it comes to selling cars.
  10. No problems at all - thanks for the title.
  11. Thanks - assuming that was directed at me!
  12. Thought I'd throw my hat in the ring for the prestigious Lambo Owner title and knock off my 5th forum post at the same time - gotta build up the courage to stop lurking sometime... My 05 Gallardo as it was when I bought it: Figuring out how to drive the thing: LP570 bumper and wing update (thanks to SP Engineering): From an outing with my favourite co-driver:
  13. The head sales guy there at the moment is Josh - very nice young bloke. The showroom door is usually kept locked as the street gets a lot of foot traffic (and they're right next to a backpacker's hostel) but I've never seen them turn anyone away. I'm sure if you introduce yourself as a Lambo owner / LP member you'll get off on the right foot - there's probably a good chance at least one of the sales guys lurks around this forum anyway. Sadly the dealership isn't really located all that well in terms of test drive opportunities - they're right in the centre of the city and most of the roads around the dealership are either stop-start traffic, littered with speed cameras or both. If you do get out for a drive though be sure to return to the dealership via the William St tunnel which has the most fantastic acoustics.
  14. I can't help directly as I'm from a land with metric measures, but last year my stock 05 Gallardo clocked 144.4mph over a standing 1000m sprint (0.62 miles). From that I would assume that at least 160mph should be attainable over the full mile.
  15. Nowhere near as exciting a first post here - just wanting to stay alive on the forum long enough to order some stuff from SP Power.
