  1. I would love to see some pictures of the crash scene, skit marks, tree damage etc. It wouldn't take much to calculate the trajectory and velocity required to attain it. What is the over/under that this calculated figure is give or take double what driving miss daisy is claiming? Ray - by chance did you have an onboard datalogging system in that thing? AEM or Motec?
  2. FWIW, I say he got lucky that it was Peak's car he totaled. I know of one particular person who's car he has worked on that not only has more $$$, but would have taken an entirely different approach to the situation. Hope it all gets worked out reasonably amicably for everyone involved.
  3. Ever driven a car on a big slick like that at literally 3psi? fcuk if I'm trying that on a runway with a less than perfect surface! Plus you're talking about top fuel tires, there isn't a god damn chance that would fit on anything reasonably resembling a street car. As JRR stated, the lifespan of those tires is only a couple runs, and mere seconds at those speeds. A single mile pull would exceed the stress time of the tire multiples beyond it's normal lifespan. Besides, IF the car starts skating around, a soft wall slick is FAR more likely to tuck an edge and roll the car. At least with a road race type slick it will slide and give you half a chance of at least keeping the car on the ground.
  4. From one perspective tech/comp firms (see playstation, IGN/Gamespy, blizzard, google, blah blah) see CA as a hub, lots of talent close by and the atmosphere works. But truth be told MANY of these companies are not only looking, but pulling the trigger on moving out of state. TX is and has been a hot spot for relocation for multiple reasons, Austin/San Antonio specifically. Google has massive server locations in various states out of CA. While IMO it's romantic to have a CA based tech company, even the big $$ guys are growing wary of the taxes and general overhead associated with the area. To some extent the top talent wouldn't want to move, so an office here may be required for some, but the major money expenditure could easily be moved.
  5. Me Too! SP600 is a great looking wheel at an amazing price for sure! Curious, what are the specs of the turbo build? .96 AR turbine, 76mm E series cover turbo? Are you running AEM or a Vec box? Where is it fat, where is it lean? Do you have a datalog of a cruise to pull transition? I've personally tuned a few of these cars and 10:1 is way fat! at 10psi if you bump it up to 11:1 You'll pick up some decent power. Timing wise, truthfully (much like the 318/360 sb mopar it's based on) they don't react to timing advances that impressively. Giving your setup, there isn't much need to get above 18 degrees at 10psi. I like more timing down low and in vac (cruise). Find the happy zone in 4th-6th at 60-90mph (vac vs a/f) and dial it in. In this area you can run up to 15.5:1 without hurting anything and bump timing into the mid 20's. The result, that TT V10 will kick back HIGH 20 mpg economy just loping along. I've seen a best average of 28mpg running from 70-90mph in a TT GTS. Those random times when you roll into the throttle in 6th and pull it up to 200 turning only 4k rpm are hard on fuel, but so much fun! We call it concord mode
  6. I read this a while ago and it was extremely interesting! Makes me definitely want to avoid general pop prison, and it that ever happened I would pump as much cash in as I could and spend my time studying and being loading lol. The "rape" comment about the guy with the tiny peenor was hilarious!
  7. a drag tire would scare the bejesus out of me at those speeds, they really aren't rated for that type of thing. I have a set of 15w" x 28"T x 18" Rim ALMS roadracing slicks sitting around for just this sort of thing. Same tire they run on the rear of the ALMS P1 prototype cars. They need some heat to really hook but with some good tire warmers and some smoke action they grip VERY well, and are safe well over 200 mph continuous.
  8. I don't care what anyone says, the GTS is one of the best looking cars ever built! Those stock SRT wheels on it now? Looks good!
  9. No SHIT! Throw some ice in the tank, CO2 on the gates and lets see what it will really do!
  10. Looks great. I wonder if it would do anything trying to integrate the stock intake ducting to an airbox surrounding the cone filters. Try to keep it from sucking all the hot air in the engine bay.
  11. Swil... thanks for the info, sounds like you're very experienced. If you feel like writing a novel via PM i'd love to hear more about it
  12. I can definitely see the major market that is available for something like this, but the capital expenditure would be massive. Beyond that, there is a pretty significant labor overhead operating a business like that. Building out a call center, training employees, dealing with what is sure to be a significant turnover rate, etc. Legal expenses, federal licensing (aren't you a financial institution now?), regulations, could all become outrageous. Marketing expenses would be in the 7 figure range/yr without a doubt. The overall formula of credit vs deposit vs income would have to be sorted out, most likely some trial and error. It definitely seems like a feasible idea, but wouldn't really be a money maker until you had clients numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Could something like this be done without $50m liquid?
  13. The noise makes people look, you can bet on that. Plus it's a great socal ride with the top off. Why not just do what we all know you want to do, buy an SLR Roadster and be done with it?
  14. Laguna Niguel is not Laguna beach Signed, I LIVE right down the street.
  15. Where are you guys getting Newport Coast from? 92677 is Laguna Niguel, while being a very nice place is not anywhere near the range of Newport Coast (92657). I'd be surprised if the house in the picture is over $1m currently.
  16. You guys are missing the fundamental issue that you just can't bolt viper wheels to a murci. Viper = 6 bolt x 4.5" circle Murci = 5 bolt = fail! This isn't even worth considering because you couldn't bolt them on if you wanted to.
  17. Come on Allan, every reasonably successful dentist/cpa drives a Porsche of some sort. And the fact that to the uneducated your $150k 997 Turbo S is indistinguishable from a 2001 996. It's the upper middle class accord, what do you expect? Sell the bentley and the porsche, keep the lambo for going fast, buy a standard length phantom for pimpin. LWB would be too much of a bitch to drive around town.
  18. Uhh, Viper is a 6x 4.5 bolt circle. Good luck with that.
  19. He's not only a comedian which I quite enjoyed but a graduate from Harvard law. Could have happened to a lot worse people.
  20. Interesting that it's only a 2dr. Could be a great looking car if they don't just rebadge a CL65.
  21. I'm sure he could build something amazing as far as the hard parts go, but building the motor and making the e-gear (assuming it is) work and live is another story.
  22. No specific time frame, but looks like she'll be held till the Probation Trial on Oct 22nd, so it looks like 28 real days.
